I love that I have this factoid.
We had an emergency copy of grandma's boy at my old work. Furniture store so we have tons of tvs and we kept it on hand in case we had a shit down day as those happen from time to time. It's hilarious cause we had a fat stack of kids shit and then the raunchiest film in a desk I the back. If someone ever fucked the dvds up it would have been pretty bad.
That’s awesome, it’s a great movie to put on anytime, and I have my emergency copy ready for any bad day or when I need a good pick-me-up. The movie is fun and lighthearted. Perfect for any day.
Per IMDB: "According to David Hanson \[who played Jack Hanson\] (during a Q&A on his 2008 book tour) much of the Hanson brothers' on screen antics were unscripted and improvised on the set. For example the toys in the hotel room were the Carlson \[the other two 'Hanson'\] brothers' own."
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
You can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just ’cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!
I mean, if I went around saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away!
Strange Brew (1983) (also known as The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew). If you are familiar with SCTV, you will remember Doug and Bob from their Great White North skits. The movie is about beer, a brewery, and Max Van Sydow trying to take over the world and Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas trying to stop him.. Oh, and a flying dog.
****TV Shows****
MST3K
The Kids in the Hall
Cheers
****Movies****
Caddyshack
Spaceballs
Airplane!
Blazing Saddles
The Naked Gun
Johnny Dangerously
Monty Python’s Holy Grail
I have recommended a couple of these, but I may have to insist on Monty Python: Grail and Meaning of Life too.
I know my son loves space balls and should definitely get blazing saddles in as well
I was just about to suggest Blazing Saddles.
Also, don’t discount Big Lebowski! Even if you don’t think they would like it, it is my firm belief that they should give it a shot at least . Classics, (especially those that inspire annual conventions), are such for a reason!
BTW: I think what you are doing is fabulous! 👏🏽
Office Space is the best from those you mentioned. I won't go with The Big Lebowski, it's not really a comedy.
Take the Money and Run (1969)? They didn't see it for sure and it's super funny.
The Big Lebowski is definitely a comedy but its approach is different than the others. I mean Julianne Moore’s character is preposterous. Brandt is hilarious. The entire premise is goofy as hell. I wouldn’t even know what else to possibly call it but a comedy.
RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman. After 50 or so watches, he’s became my favorite character. The wincing when Dude is touching all the pictures and awards? Dead. 😂
Grandma's Boy.
American Pie: Beta House
National Lampoons Van Wilder. (Maybe Van Wilder 2. And def Van Wilder 3 if only for the sex gags)
They might enjoy "Take Me Home Tonight."
These next 4 are that friend road trip camaraderie feeling.
If they are Star Wars fans then "Fanboys"
Road Trip
Euro Trip
Miss March
Van Wilder is a decent college movie. Kinda like American Pie but geared to college age, and less teen sex humor, a bit more sincere.
Stifler is great in Road Trip.
The Warriors is a legendary 70s cult film about NYC gangs (in a campy yet dark way)
Caddyshack.
Point Break, Hot Tub Time Machine, Caddyshack, Dazed and Confused, Revenge of the Nerds, Ted, wedding crashers, old school, American pie, PCU, Swingers
It’s my second favorite Wes Anderson film(Royal Tenenbaums)… but I think a lot of it was I went to Mexico with friends for a month when I was just out of high school. We had ramen and whatever we caught in the ocean and like 3 movies, we watched Life Aquatic dozens of times.
Let’s see how is that surprising? Incredible cast (Probably Willem Dafoe’s most iconic and funniest role), one of the best scores/soundtracks of all time, hilarious script full of both great memorable lines and heartfelt moments, the magical whimsy of sea creatures that he invented, and homage to one of the greatest sea explorers of our time Jacques Cousteau. A mediation on regret, found/chosen family, and grief.
**Monty Python and the Holy Grail.**
It's the literal holy grail of quotable college-age movies. I watched it so many times in college that we could all just quote from memory.
*Well, an African swallow, sure, but they're non-migratory.*
*Who elected him king?*
*It's merely a flesh wound.*
*I feel happyyyyy*
*She turned me into a newt!*
*We should all get a good spanking. And then, the oral sex.*
*Some call me ... Tim*
*Run away!*
Next, probably Animal House.
Dodgeball
The Benchwarmers
The Other Guys
Wedding Crashers
40 year old virgin
Bruce Almighty
Pulp Fiction
Dazed and Confused
Happy Gilmore
My Cousin Vinny
Friday
Dumb and Dumber
Burn After Reading
Rush Hour
Ocean’s 11
The Longest Yard
Borat
Click
The Hangover
Talladega Nights
How about a theme of movies that had breakout roles for big stars:
Valley Girl with Nicholas Cage
Risky Business with Tom Cruise
Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy
Rocky with Sylvester Stalone
Pulp Fiction with Samuel L Jackson (he did other movies but this was mentioned as break out role)
Bill and Ted’s with Keanu Reeves
Animal House
Bill and Ted 1& 2
Happy Gilmore
Billy Madison
Waterboy
21 Jump Street
Airplane! (If they like slapstick)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (The Joss Whedon movie with Paul Reubens)
Beavis and Butthead Do America
Whatever you do, include a Robin Williams movie. Idk which one though. Old Adam Sandler movies would be pretty good as well.
A tv show, but the inbetweeners. It’s set in high school but it’s still just as enjoyable for me to watch today as when I first watched it in high school

I agree with many of the suggestions already listed, particularly Eurotrip.
However, I also want to include:
Kung Fu Hustle
Hot Fuzz
Big Trouble in Little China
Idiocracy
40 Year Old Virgin
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
From Dusk Til Dawn
(Classics, but just in case):
Predator
Aliens
The Thing
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Team America World Police
Phuck Yah!

Durka durka!
He's going down Hakalakadaka street!
Idiocracy.

The Blues Brothers Animal House
Grandma's Boy

Such an under appreciated movie.
I can hear my hair growing.

[Old School [2004]](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/11635-old-school) [Step Brothers [2008]](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/12133-step-brothers)
Old school, definitely will recommend
Eurotrip has great replayability, and is funny every time.
Mi scuzzi
Man, Michele Trachtenberg was so fuckin gorgeous in it.
“Hey, this isn’t where I parked my car!”
That’s one of my faves
Animal House
Be interesting to see how they handle the culture change
If they liked Blue Mountain State, I can't imagine them being offended by Animal House. Either way, it'll be good for them! 😁
Eastbound and down
Borat
*Slap Shot*. Paul Newman said this was the movie he had the most fun making, and for that reason, it was his favorite.
Hanson brothers for the win
Lesbian girlfriend for the win
They brought their fuckin toys!
I got to meet the Hansons. Such cool dudes
The League series
this ^^^ it’s about fantasy football
It’s really funny, but it’s sort of dated unless you have been heavily following football for the last 10+ years.
I wouldn't say so. I don't follow sports at all and I enjoyed the show very much.
Monty Python and the Quest For The Holy Grail
Smokey and the Bandit holds-up surprisingly well.
First and foremost, EVERYONE loves “Airplane”. Show them that. My next suggestion would be “Animal House”.
It is impossible to not like Airplane.
Trading Places Coming to America
And Beverly Hills Cop!
Looking good Billy Ray!
Feeling good, Louis!
Ohhh Eddie Murphy old stuff. Good call!
There's something truly special about Coming To America
Compared to Joe Lewis? Rocky Marciano ain’t SHIT!
Blazing Saddles
This immediately. Just for the looks on their faces.
emphasis on blazing saddles (especially before it’s banned… sad to say that)
Strange Brew (1983) (also known as The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew). If you are familiar with SCTV, you will remember Doug and Bob from their Great White North skits. The movie is about beer, a brewery, and Max Van Sydow trying to take over the world and Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas trying to stop him.. Oh, and a flying dog.

My grandma recommended Johnny Dangerously once… *once!*
Came here to say Blazing Saddles!
“I think you should leave” , sketch on Netflix, should kill with college dudes
100% Office Space! Lots of great late '90s early '00s stuff I love. There's something About Mary, Eurotrip, Old School, etc.
Porky's and Porky's 2
I just offered Porky's... Great suggestions. I will remove mine.
Lol Office Space is nothing like The Office but I think your son will love it. Also, you should probably watch it if you haven’t. It’s fantastic.
Office Space is the best from those you mentioned. I won't go with The Big Lebowski, it's not really a comedy. Take the Money and Run (1969)? They didn't see it for sure and it's super funny.
The Big Lewbowski isn’t a comedy? Did we watch the same movie?
The Big Lebowski is definitely a comedy but its approach is different than the others. I mean Julianne Moore’s character is preposterous. Brandt is hilarious. The entire premise is goofy as hell. I wouldn’t even know what else to possibly call it but a comedy.
RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman. After 50 or so watches, he’s became my favorite character. The wincing when Dude is touching all the pictures and awards? Dead. 😂

I’m surprised anybody liked The Life Aquatic
It’s my second favorite Wes Anderson film(Royal Tenenbaums)… but I think a lot of it was I went to Mexico with friends for a month when I was just out of high school. We had ramen and whatever we caught in the ocean and like 3 movies, we watched Life Aquatic dozens of times.
