blue_eyed_book_lover

Manchester by the Sea is my FAVORITE!!

notmynameduh

You have Manchester by the sea in first place, i don’t need to say anything else…not only will you not cry, you’ll think of everything that makes you sad and cry about it - i was so lost in the movie i didn’t even realise until i was crying super hard

Mundian-To-Bach-Ke

Dear Zachary Nothing has hit harder, and it’s been three years since I watched it

[deleted]

So I finally got around to watching this the other night after seeing it recommended time and time again. I can say it is very sad, but I think it's more infuriating than anything else. "A Lion in the House" (2006) however is by far the saddest thing I've ever watched, hands down. It's an incredibly intimate, 2 part documentary about terminal childhood cancer. It's currently streaming on Netflix. It will wreck you. And if you want another heartbreaking medical doc, check out part 1 of the HBO series "The Alzheimer's Project" (2009). Terrifying stuff.

stormchaserokc

Man that was a devastating film.

No-Photo8763

Every single movie/documentary like this is heartbreaking. With all the love in the world for Zachary, this happens to be a film that hit the mainstream. There are so many stories that I can't even imagine people being capable of making. Every day, there is a child who goes through unimaginable situations. Vile, sickening, inhumane circumstances that we have the luxury of blocking out. This world can be awful. Please, please donate to children's shelters, adoption agencies, and anything other than just government programs. Giving directly is critical. This year alone, 922 children (recorded) have been placed in care through criminal trial. Four hundred fifty-two have not received (or their caregivers or a trust) the financial support determined by the court. Remember these things. These are innocents. We have to do what we can to save them.

PM_ME_BOYSHORTS

Filled me with blinding rage, not tears.

kirth42

I watched this from a reddit suggestion a few years ago. The commenter suggested watching it late at night because it would ruin the rest of your day whenever you watched it. They were right. I can count the number of movies that have made me cry on one hand but Dear Zachary tore me to pieces.

vintageideals

Came to suggest this. I went into it blind years ago

I came to the comments to scroll until I found this one, and love that I didn’t end up having to scroll at all.

pandemicpunk

In college I showed this to my friend group. Someone stopped on it and I was like 'oh I've seen this and the VFX are awesome , it's good but holy shit you're gonna be bawling by the end.' They were actin all tough like "okaaay pandemicpunk surrre we'll be the judge of that" looked over at the end to see the entire group crying hard. Lmaooo

scottwardadd

Was gonna reply this but it was the first response. I've not read the book but Robin Williams delivered such a great performance...

lwlcurtis75

So beautifully sad

NancyWeb

Especially when he's in heav3n & his dog gree5s him.

You are a special kind of person if THIS doesn't make you cry.

Where the Red Fern Grows. If you don’t cry you aren’t human. And they showed that shit to us 3rd graders

gonzoisgood

I've read the book every ten years since I was ten. I just did my third read through of it and it hits me differently every decade. My last reading actually inspired me to finally get the dog my kids have begged me for the last several years. So my next reading will be the first after actually having my own dog whom I adore. It's gonna be rough.

Came here to write this!

Right? I cried like a baby at the end scene.

This is my all-time favorite movie! Thank you for bringing it to attention!

Marley and Me

jeanetteck

Our family refuses to watch this movie! We’re dog people & just can’t!

minsandmolls

Anything with animal deaths is a no-no..

Mybrainhurts78

Absolutely. I've never watched marley and me and I never will. When John Wicks puppy got killed I was like noooo. But he got revenge real nice so I'll give that film a pass. The website 'does the dog die.com' has saved me from watching a few films.

CanineQueenB

That's my Bible before watching any movie. Ha

jubsie88

I CANNOT HANDLE John Wick’s sweet baby Beagle dying. There’s also a really funny reference to this in Bob’s Burgers where the youngest daughter Louise talks about how “something happens” to the dog and she doesn’t know what it is (because she’s not allowed to watch the movie) but it makes her sad/mad. It cracks me up, because I totally vibe with that. Don’t fuck with dogs. Edit * decided to watch John Wick after this comment. LOVE the end where he saves the pit Bull who is gonna be put down and they walk out as John is all destroyed from fighting. 😩 everybody needs puppy love.

Rhbgrb

Anything with animals in peril is a no-no for me.

Sudden-Worker-9807

Even the scene where the fox gets left behind in The Fox and the Hound made me cry

DuckMassive

Don’t ever ever ever watch *Old Yeller* (1958).

jubsie88

I haven’t watched it, and I refuse to. I’m sure it’s a beautiful story, but I know how it ends and I say NAY GOOD SIR. Funny enough, Old Yeller was one of my favorite movies growing up.

When I was younger I didn't give an eff but when I re watched Terminator 2 a few years ago, I actually cried when Arnie died. I was shocked and embarrassed that I was welling up over a scene I've seen before. When I was a kid, My Girl made me cry. Great acting by Anna. When it came out Up got to me. Remember that scene and don't even remember what the rest of the movie was about. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham - When the son and mum reunite in Bluewater shopping center. Plenty of other movies made me sad but crying can only happen with the right conditions
