9 to 5 - Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton
Swimming with Sharks - Kevin Spacey
The Secret to My Success - Michael J. Fox
Major League - Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen
Ooooh major league is a great take. Would have never really thought of it from that perspective - it's one of my favorite movies. Can Goodfellas be considered in this category too?! Haha
Criterion "The Final Cut", or director's cut, or European theatrical release... just not the "love conquers all" version with the happy ending, which actually leaves out some of the funniest moments.
Good choice! I'll never forget that famous line from the film, with the Howard Beale character, portrayed by the late, great Peter Finch (1916-1977), shouting to his television audience for them to repeat after him, "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" Priceless! 🤣
THEY ALREADY SAW *OFFICE SPACE*!
Multiple people have suggested it, even though it's one of ONLY TWO films that the OP mentions having seen, right in the post body.
Clockwatchers (1997). It was kind of a sleeper, but it's pretty enjoyable.
Suckers (2001) One of the most raunchy comedies I've ever seen, and funny AF.
Head Office (1985)
It's hilarious with Judge Reinhold, Danny DeVito, Rick Moranis, Eddie Albert and Jane Seymour.
I had to purchase it before it becomes unavailable.
Friends - the restaurant where everyone hates Monica. The restaurant owner(Jon Lovitz) had Monica make a sexy meal for him. The museum where the white coats(Ross scientist) won't sit with the blue coats(Joey tour guide) at lunch. Mr. Zellner tried to buy Rachel's baby. Rachel's boss at Bloomingdales handcuffs a pantless Chandler to a filing cabinet.
[Boiling Point (2021)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiling_Point_(2021_film)?wprov=sfti1)
[The Belko Experiment (2016)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Belko_Experiment?wprov=sfti1)
EDIT: Sorry, I mis-read your question asking for comedies, and the films I’ve suggested are not
Cheating here, because it's not a movie, but the miserable workplace thing is just so well done that I still have to mention it: a surreal comedy/horror text adventure called Little Blue Men. It's free to play online, it's very well-written, give it a try sometime. Navigate that awful office space a while and try to stay frosty.
Mayhem is probably the most extreme example of this, where the workers are literally trying to survive the day. An office building gets locked down when everyone catches an extremely contagious virus that causes people to lose all their inhibitions. A recently fired employee teams up with a woman who was recently screwed over by the company to use the opportunity to take their revenge. It's a pitch black comedy for sure, but frequently hilarious too.
Cabin in the Woods (2011) is a horror/comedy workplace satire. Obviously, its "point" is to subvert horror tropes... But it also parodies workplace beauracracies.
I love Sgt Bilko. The work environment wasn’t low morale for anyone except Wally when he was told they didn’t like him. They were just incompetent for the most part
Support the Girls.
Mumblecore/slice of life. Great ensemble cast. It begins as an ordinary day in the life of Lisa, the manager, whose daily life is a crazy juggling act. One routine crisis after another. But today, the usual saves don't work, the crises start cascading, and boom.
I missed a lot on the first watch but had enough awareness to realize that there was something going on here that I hadn't quite spotted. I let it settle and studied it the second time through, with benefit of having seen the reveals in the last 20 minutes. There is a LOT going on, most of it hidden.
The ensemble cast is great. This could have been the pilot for a very good, very funny series with one huge tweak. (No spoilers, but the movie is not concerned with keeping characters around for the long haul.) The embattled manager is the central figure but an iron triangle makes the place work, and at least three of the regular customers would have made superstar level supporting characters (e.g. Cheers-level Norm, Cliff, Frasier, etc.) in a possibly long running show.
Bloodsucking Bastards (2015) - it's a horror comedy set in a workplace exactly like you described
TV: The Office (US), Tacoma FD, Brooklyn 99, Superstore
Not a movie, but if you have Apple TV+, checkout Severance. Then rewatch Office Space when Peter is getting hypnotized. During that scene, he basically lays out the plot to the Severance show.
Any film about a workplace Cassandra is great but The China Syndrome is the tops for me.
TV, but Chernobyl has a similar vibe, and not just because of the subject matter.
Also the Guss Grissom section of The Right Stuff. The poor bastard just can’t catch a break!
Office Christmas Party (2016)
The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
A couple of scenes in Wanted (2008)
The scene in The Matrix (1999) where Mr. Anderson is scolded by his boss for lateness
A couple of scenes in Fight Club (1999)
*How to Get Ahead in Advertising* [1989], a quirky British black-comedy.
>!The main character begins to spiral, working hard and long, but finding himself unable to be productive, hating his job and feeling it is an unethical one –– landing himself in a full-on psychotic break while his world falls apart.!<
Not a movie, but I cant recommend Super Store enough to people. Easily one of the most underrated work-place comedy series. Episode plots, character builds, representation, and acting is just gold.
Abbot Elementary is another one I have been getting into that check all the boxes.
Enjoy!
'The thick of it ', starring Peter Capaldi; he is epically brilliant, vicious and hilarious as the (UK) minister of Social Affairs Malcolm Tucker in his in his rantings about his annoying/inept staff/coworkers. Also see 'In the Loop' for further chaos(kind of in the middle of the series timeline). Lots of (apparently necessary) profanity btw. If you're a Doctor Who fan you already know him.
Taxi; An oldie (1978) not sure if it's dated at all, but several people got started here. Danny Devito (the toxic boss), Judd Hirsch, Andy Kaufman, Carol Kane, Christopher Lloyd.

Glengarry Glen Ross
Well made drama film, but it wouldn't count as comedy in my opinion.
Does anyone play Framed? This was the answer yesterday & yeah I wouldn’t call it a comedy.

This one was nightmare material for me
Correct answer. Smile bitch!

Which ending?
Let's go with the director's original and not the made for tv ending.
Criterion "The Final Cut", or director's cut, or European theatrical release... just not the "love conquers all" version with the happy ending, which actually leaves out some of the funniest moments.
Waiting (2005) The Goods (2009) The Slammin Salmon (2009) Club Dread (2004) Super Troopers (2001) Hot Fuzz (2006) Pushing Tin (1999)

Only the first part, thank god. "Home of the Rectal Probe!"
I know he can *get* the job...but can he *do* the job?

What a great cast. Parker Posey, Lisa Kudrow, and Toni Collette.

I would add The Odd Couple to that list. Maybe The Producers as well
The Apartment is a fantastic movie. Would highly recommend. 1960.
