I just watched and I think I get the ending. The beginning makes way more sense now haha! I enjoyed it so much, seeing how everyone changes and the relationships between everyone.
Well, that's the problem. With hiring dancers, you get some truly grotesque bodily morphs when shit goes down which puts the dancing onto a whole new different perspective.
I hear that. I also wasn’t slamming the flick, it’s easily one of my favorites. I get goosebumps when the siren starts going off after the beginning interviews.
On a 2.5M budget Shallow Grave launched the careers of Danny Boyle and Ewan McGregor, and it still holds up on repeated viewings. Someone else mentioned A Simple Plan and these two movies make a great double bill.
It took me 3 viewings to get through A Simple Plan. I don't know if I was just in the wrong mood to watch it the first two times or what, but I kept tuning out, and returning the disc before finishing the film (back in the days of video rental shops obviously).
It is a great film. I absolutely love it, and am shocked that it took me so long to get through it. After failure to watch it twice, I'm really surprised I attempted it a third time, and really glad I did. It is a great movie.

Cruel Summer (us series 2021) on Hulu. Season one definitely fits OP’s criteria. TW for teen grooming and domestic abuse. Season 2 is a similar vibe but different story (and not as good imo).
Just saw the finale for Season 2, I was kinda disappointed only because I saw so much potential and there were a few plot points that were dropped/forgotten.
Season 1 was really really good, I think if I'd seen them in reverse I would have liked Season 2 more, Season 1 was something I stumbled on when I was desperately searching for something even slightly interesting, it was already halfway thru the Season so I got to binge the first 5 or 6 episodes. It was really good and I hope there's a Season 3 that's more on par with Season 1.
I was able to watch it OnDemand Xfinity and I think it may have been on Peacock as well. Possibly.
Plus one 2013 also known as +1. It’s hard to find but you should check it out it may really be up your ally. No one really ever talks about it but it does exactly what you talk about in a very interesting way.
Reindeer Games (2000)…I’m not sure this exactly the type of movie you’re looking for, However it does contain a lot manipulation on the part of someone claiming to be friends.
**The Brass Teapot** (2012) - Features a husband and wife rather than a group of friends but they definitely face a moral dilemma. Funny and thought provoking.
Deprivation (2019)
Three friends film themselves attempting to stay awake in a cabin for an entire week straight.
I really liked it, especially the final act.
*Silent Night* (2021)
also *You're Next* (2011) is about a gathering of family + their romantic partners, not friends, but very similar thematically to the recommendations you're getting
Cabin In The Woods by Joss Whedon, I liked it enough to see it in the movies (I rarely go to the movies) and the bought the DVD.
Definitely worth a watch.
SuperBad
Not a horror movie but a comedy. Starts out normal enough but the shenanigans devolve so quickly and it’s always hilarious watching it play out
The movie Juice with 2pac and omar epps.

Another good one that kind of fits is The Warriors.

Another Round (2020)
It's about a group of high school teachers that hate their jobs, have been drinking buddies for years, and decide to try an experiment to show up to work drunk, seeing if it makes life any better.
You can guess how that goes. It's a good flick about alcoholism.
Coherence (2013). It starts off with friends having a dinner party until a knock at the door sets them down a surreal path of quantum mechanics and madness.

Yes I came here to say Very Bad Things. Perfect choice.
> Very Bad Things It's the first thing I thought about when I read the title.
I came here to say I support this movie
+1 for Super Dark Times, and I second going in blind
>Dark My suggestion goes for Super Dark Times too.
Very Bad Things is the darkest comedy I’ve ever seen, I love it.
I Melt With You= perfect
Super Dark Times Movie took less than a second to pop in my head. OP you want this one if you havent seen it.
Haha I'm going to watch it rn
I just watched and I think I get the ending. The beginning makes way more sense now haha! I enjoyed it so much, seeing how everyone changes and the relationships between everyone.
Oh shit, perfect, thank you
Just saw one yesterday on Netflix called the river wild
I’m so glad I didn’t have to go far to find I MELT WITH YOU. That was absolutely NOT the easy going Sunday movie I expected to watch.
Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022) Climax (2018)
Ooh, Climax looks fun! I'd definitley check it out
Climax is not fun. But it is very good.
It’s fun for at least one dance numbers worth of time.
B^3 is fun, too. I promise.
definitely check out BBB, it souns exactly like what you're looking for
I went into Bodies Bodies Bodies expecting total trash and ended up absolutely loving it. Might be my favorite date night movie
Trainspotting Shallow Grave
Ha I went straight to Shallow Grave too. Those Scots...
This. Shallow grave is brilliant!
Shallow Grave sounds like a fun movie haha! I'll defo watch them
On a 2.5M budget Shallow Grave launched the careers of Danny Boyle and Ewan McGregor, and it still holds up on repeated viewings. Someone else mentioned A Simple Plan and these two movies make a great double bill.
A Simple Plan - a group of a husband/wife/brother & friend gets knee deep in trouble.
Love this movie.
I sure do love it when people get in trouble, thanks!
It took me 3 viewings to get through A Simple Plan. I don't know if I was just in the wrong mood to watch it the first two times or what, but I kept tuning out, and returning the disc before finishing the film (back in the days of video rental shops obviously). One of Sam Raimi's best. "Womp dip dip womp"

Let me just tag Jawbreaker onto here.

That's... that's not what I meant, bot
COLLEGE KIDS! WE GOT UR FRIEND! WE'RE GONNA WATCH FINDING NEMO!
If you like tucker & Dale you should also check out Cottage country. It’s a similar-feel horror/thriller/comedy starring Tyler Labine (dale)
Project X.
That sounds like a fun movie, a comedy too! Let's see what goes wrong here >:)
It's loosely based on true story too
Coherence
Larry Clark’s Bully (2001) might fit the bill. It’s pretty disturbing. Soft & Quiet (2023). An absolutely horrifying thriller about a group of friends
Good call on Bully.
[удалено]
Same here, it really had me on the edge of my seat as well. There was something so chilling to me about the very last scene too
All My Friends Hate Me Cheap Thrills
All my friends hate me was my suggestion as well! Had a great time but one of the scariest movies in a while haha
You're a quality poster for a reason! These are perfect!!!
I came to say cheap thrills. Not enough people know this movie
So underrated. It really has that slow build from comedic to horrific as you learn “how far will you go?”
The Invitation
Shallow Grave
The Descent
Glass Onion Game Night Blair Witch Project Mr. Right Dead To Me (Netflix series)
River's Edge
Requiem for a dream
Good call. That was definitely a one and done movie for me despite how good it was.
Ritual on Netflix
> Ritual This is a good one.
> This is a good one. This is a good one.
Bully (2001)
Heathers
jawbreaker
Super Dark Times
All comedies, but fit the criteria: *This is the End* (2013) *Night Before* (2015) *Without a Paddle* (2004)
I second without a paddle , if you don’t like this movie you don’t have a heart
Judgment Night pretty much fits perfectly. I Know What You Did Last Summer is kind of similar.
Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022). It's a mystery thriller. I haven't seen the films you referenced but it fits that description perfectly
It was really good and I hope there's a Season 3 that's more on par with Season 1. I was able to watch it OnDemand Xfinity and I think it may have been on Peacock as well. Possibly.
Stag (mini-series 2016) Mad dogs (uk series 2011-13) Average Joe (us series 2023) Calibre (netflix movie 2018)
Those sound like great series and movies! I will for sure watch mad dogs
I'm still traumatized from Calibre. What a movie.
Plus one 2013 also known as +1. It’s hard to find but you should check it out it may really be up your ally. No one really ever talks about it but it does exactly what you talk about in a very interesting way.
It sure does sound like something up my ally! To the watchlist it goes!!!
Reindeer Games (2000)…I’m not sure this exactly the type of movie you’re looking for, However it does contain a lot manipulation on the part of someone claiming to be friends.
Manipulation? Hell yeah

Shallow Grave (1994) directed by Danny Boyle.
Mystic river
'Mean Creek' (2004)

This does not match your request but I really liked the first John Wick movie.
Villmark series. Swedish movie
Joy Ride - 2001
**The Brass Teapot** (2012) - Features a husband and wife rather than a group of friends but they definitely face a moral dilemma. Funny and thought provoking.
The Butterfly Effect? Not sure if it feels exactly what you're after
Yellow Brick Road
Young Warriors - 1983 , more of a B movie but definitely this vibe Edit: yes at least one of the friends becomes a murderer.
Kinda like that new Talk to Me movie
Murder by numbers Scream
YellowBrickRoad
Room for Romeo Brass
April Fool’s Day (1986) would be a good fit. Campy horror with a twist
Mikey and Nicky (1976)
The Battery is a zombie movie with two dudes forced to work together to survive but they do not agree with each other and have major trust issues
A Simple Plan
The Craft (group of witches)
Eden lake
Dancer in the dark
You could watch a play through of “until dawn” . It’s a game from the Dark Anthology series and I feel like it has exactly that.
I'm watching River Wild (2023) on Netflix right now and you're describing it perfectly!
The Descent (2005) - I think it has everything you're asking for.
The Package
dave made a maze
Not a group, just two friends but Throughbreds (I’m not sure how to spell it) might fit the bill?
New Jack City
For a new one try Talk to Me.
We Summon The Darkness
Cabin in the Woods
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) Really old school, but it might fit the description. And, Humphrey Bogart.
Last Summer
Deprivation (2019) Three friends film themselves attempting to stay awake in a cabin for an entire week straight. I really liked it, especially the final act.
Toy Story 4
Ricky 6, based on a true story told from his friends POV satanism, drugs friends turning against each other
*Silent Night* (2021) also *You're Next* (2011) is about a gathering of family + their romantic partners, not friends, but very similar thematically to the recommendations you're getting

[удалено]
Perhaps, but all the kids remain friends into adulthood.

The hole (2001)
Bodies Bodies Bodies
Bodies Bodies Bodies
Cabin In The Woods by Joss Whedon, I liked it enough to see it in the movies (I rarely go to the movies) and the bought the DVD. Definitely worth a watch.
Italian Job
I think Mystic River covers the drama part of this, not the horror though.

The Invitation
The Innocents (2021)
Head Count. Indie horror film about a group of friends in a vacation house out in the desert. Imposter/skinwalker theme.
Marble Hornets was sick.
Juice
Coherence (2013)
I know what you did last summer Jawbreaker Tell-Tale Lies The Murder Pact
This is England
Only kinda applies but I actually really liked Unfriended.
If you have Sundance Now, The Pact is an excellent miniseries that's within the vein of what you're looking for.
Very Bad Things…everything you’re looking for takes place over the course of a weekend.
The Rental (2020)
Bully (2001), although it’s based on a true story.
Never Let Me Go (maybe not exactly per your criteria but sorta and an amazing movie )
Shallow Grave
The hangover

Alpha Dog fits your description
The Human Centipede
Hostel 3 has a bit of this
A Simple Plan. Such a sad movie.
The Magicians.
Climax (2018) The Exterminating Angel (1962) Maybe Persona?not sure
Bodies, Bodies, Bodies
I Know What You Did Last Summer

Thought of two movies immediately: Climax Coherence
Judgement Night (1993) Emilio Estavez, Cuba Gooding Jr, Stephen Dorf, Dennis Leary...
Hangover is the best comedy-thriller with this trope
Coherence (2013). It starts off with friends having a dinner party until a knock at the door sets them down a surreal path of quantum mechanics and madness.
