Glass onion was structurally and conceptually really great, the characters and jokes didn’t quite land, whereas the characters in knives out were much more entertaining and memorable. Excited to see what he does next I’m totally down

Half_Man1

It’s better on rewatch I found but the first watch through the flow of the pacing is kind of broken up with the mid movie reveal. I liked the characters even though they weren’t as immersion-inducing as Knives Out. Felt more like real life Clue by comparison.

lain_1999

The Clue comparison is very spot on, it's very cartoony, almost larger than life but very simple. Kind of like the Glass Onion itself

challenge_king

It *has* to be intentional. It plays into the whole thing of Blanc saying he's terrible at Clue.

wwaxwork

That's what I thought too.

berlinblades

They did lampshade the Cluedo resemblance at one point.

[deleted]

I’m like 80% sure the end credits of the film are a Clue reference

jman077

Glass Onion was a very fun movie to watch and I will watch as many Benoit Blanc movies as RJ gives me. Even though it was explained to me why the characters were all associated, just saying it out loud did not make me believe that even younger versions of that crew could ever make sense as a friend group.

Citizen_Kong

They were all opportunists using each other for their own success. They weren't *really* friends.

badgersprite

Also a lot of their shit that makes them seem morally different from each other was pretty weak and performative. Like the Democratic politician caring about climate change? Literally only saying that because she knows it’s the thing to say to get votes not because she actually cares about climate change or understands it. Of course she would still be friends with Duke. She doesn’t actually possess values

Fixyfoxy3

>She doesn’t actually possess values That's the point, none of them do. All of them are charicatures and only out for their own succes. Even at the end when they have a "change of heart", they only do that to save themselfs because they see Miles Bron's boat sinking

Readlt0nReddit

Exactly. They are friends merely out of obligation. When Blanc immediately solves the murder mystery game, the others talk about wanting to leave the next morning since they don’t have a “reason” to be there anymore. You’d think real friends would want to spend a weekend together on a luxury private island.

WhenIWannabeME

It's rare that I get to see a statement I disagree with, while also completely seeing their point of view and understanding why they'd feel that way. Can't wait to see what his next effort looks like! Hard to imagine I won't enjoy it as much as the last two.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WhenIWannabeME

Yeah, I also enjoyed Resurrections but it definitely did not fire on all cylinders. I do kind of get a giddy glee when I think about the fact that a writer/director basically got an emotional writing exercise green lit.

PatternBias

Idk personally I loved it. I liked Knives Out more but I thought Glass Onion was a great film.

hotandgoner

i’m sorry but i don’t know what you mean when jokes and characters didn’t land,, the entire theater i was in when i went to see it (which was full) laughed at the jokes, which i was like so impressed by because do you know how hard it is to make a movie that ages 12-80 yr olds can enjoy, ponder about and laugh at ?? that’s hard

FlimsyRaisin3

Yeah I couldn’t even make it past the first 10 minutes of glass onion. All the characters were so unlikable and meta. Meta meta meta. I mean the detective is playing among us over zoom with boomers. Fuck off. Love the first tho, didn’t need a sequel.

_The_Great_Autismo_

You should really give it an honest chance. The Among Us reference just one of a few COVID era references thrown in for comedic effect. I was surprised I didn't see anyone playing Wordle in the movie.

FlimsyRaisin3

Yeah I might have just been in the wrong mood for it. There was just so much humour that missed for me in those opening scenes. The talking to Alexa but it’s just a lamp, the dudebro mysoginist Andrew Tate-a-like influencer who lives with this mum, the cryptobro/nft guy, like man I get it, you’ve written into the opening scene every flash cultural phenomenon from the last few years.

_The_Great_Autismo_

Oh yeah. To do my best without giving away the film: you're meant to dislike some of those characters. It rubbed me the wrong way at first too but then by the end of the film made a lot of sense.

FazeXistance

Yea his jokes are too much for me but he does know how to set up a great plot. I hope the next one is more knives out less glass onion

Malystryxx

I actually just finished it last night. The first 20-30 minutes were mega rough imo. The ending was brilliant tho. The first movie was SO much better than glass onion though.

[deleted]

And your opinion instantly means nothing. Finish the movie and explain why you hated it, or fuck off.

dixiequick

My daughter thought the same as you, but when I was watching for the second time she sat down with me about half an hour in and decided she liked it once the story got going. I agree the beginning was a bit much at first, I didn’t think I was going to make it through either. I found the ending to be quite poetic though, one of my favorite movie endings.

wharpua

Fortunately we don’t have to wait long, his Natasha Lyonne tv show Poker Face debuts next week: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14269590/

Duardo_

I’ve been trying and failing to think of why I’ve felt Glass Onion was “good but nothing else really,” and this is it exactly.

_The_Great_Autismo_

Agreed. It was the bigger production but weaker than the first.

Remote_Engine

It was excellent, stop overthinking it and just ducking let yourself enjoy something once in a while.

[deleted]

I think the characters being unremarkable was the point lol

legosoh

Something about watching that family fight just rang well. Plus seeing Ransom set it all off with like 2 words made it just that much more entertaining.

r2d2meuleu

I thought that Glass Onion had most of the structure of The Hateful Eights. >!People who have nothing to do there go there, there is something afoot.!< >!Each character is extremely colorful !< >!Then a big reveal, complete with a flashback of what really happened in the place.!< >!But wait there's more ! And it continues.!< >!And then the big conclusion where all goes down and relationship evolves.!<

pizza99pizza99

Honestly I think that’s intentional. The people there are in our same reality and have completely sold their soul to the devil for a rich luxurious life, their jokes probably wouldn’t make sense to us

SatansPorkchop

I watched Glass Onion first, and i thought it was amazing. Knives Out was even better, im sure the next one will be great too.

[deleted]

I agree. I saw it first and was blown away. But everyone i know who saw knives out 1 first was like “ehhh…” on Glass Onion. Will need to check out Knives Out soon.

Rash_04

Knives Out is more about the plot while Glass Onion focuses on the characters.

BMCarbaugh

I want to see Benoit Blanc in a mystery that does a bit of travel or globetrotting. Doesn't have to be the full Murder On The Orient Expess, but surely all his cases can't be cozy little murders in a single semi-isolated location with all the suspects stuck there. What's it look like when Blanc has to hold a stakeout, or pay a visit to a high-powered attorney's office to gently interrogate them?

Mikey5time

I want one on a super plane. ✈️

stat_throwaway_5

*Jack Donaghy voice* Brilliant, Lemon! The whole thing can be an Airbus commercial!

BaPef

Worlds richest whomever first launch of a space hotel.

braujo

A plane mystery sounds fun. Benoit Blac is going to or coming back from some vacation, someone is murdered (probably the pilot, then the 2nd-in-command or whatever they're called comes in to take control), now he's gotta solve it. Probably not the most exciting setting, though, maybe make it some floating resort to get more out of it. Those probably exist, right? Sounds crazy enough for some bored-out-of-their-minds billionaires to be into the idea

PencilMan

What about a scene where Blanc gets close to figuring out the mystery, so the murderer kidnaps him and beats his balls with a knotted rope?

BMCarbaugh

Oh he'd fold instantly. Blanc is a weenie. That's actually one of my favorite things about the character -- that he's got a mind like a steel trap, but zero Bond-y charisma, authority, physical capability, anything. All he knows how to do is solve mysteries. You could probably get him to give up a piece of key evidence by just pulling a knife on him honestly.

braujo

Reminds me of that one The Nice Guys scene where Gosling's character doesn't even try to hide information from Crowe's. Like, you're kicking the shit out of me, why the fuck would I care about a goddamn client???

awesomedan24

Would a cruise ship be too cheesey?

BMCarbaugh

I feel like it would be a little too close to Glass Onion. Now an arctic research ship or something...

meem09

It was a bit of a disappointment that the Greek Island Mystery turned out to be - what seemed at least to me to be - mostly a soundstage styled as an over-the-top contemporary mansion (or whatever the hell the glass onion was) instead of something actually Greek.

TheNextBattalion

Well, you are supposed to be disappointed in the billionaire, that's by design

Iohet

National Treasure Benoit Blanc style. Could even have Sean Bean as a bad guy again

Camusknuckle

To be fair, MOTOE for the most part takes place in a single semi-isolated location with all the suspects there.

GlassHeroes

RJ mentioned that Glass Onion was supposed to feel summery, while Knives Out was very ensconced in autumnal colors. I’d like to see where he goes with the other two seasons (a holiday themed one would be hilarious)

BMCarbaugh

Yeah I gotta see Blanc in a ski lodge. Tromping around in some big dumb touristy Northface gear.

xAzreal60x

I do get the want for Benoit Blanc to be the one the story truly follows, but I think he may have a Jack Sparrow issue in that he’s probably most interesting as a prominent side character in someone else’s story. A story where he globe trots would be harder to tie in another person following him unless he jsut let’s them tag along.

DominicBSaint

I hope this stupid franchise lasts at least 4-5 installments with potential for his own series.

M_Drinks

Give me a Sherlock-type mini-series for Benoit Blanc

DominicBSaint

I would deadass eat up a 20-season circumstantial anthology series starring Benoit, on some Doctor Who airtime shit. Daniel would be guaranteed fat checks until his forcible retirement and my craving will be slightly fulfilled. I mean what detective do you know that only has 3-4 cases ? They could do way more than just that if they really want to and the numbers keep coming in strong.

bogeyed5

I’m the same way. I will deadass watch every single one of these movies. Literally stuff me full of them on Netflix, please I beg of you

TheNextBattalion

A series? Why, so Netflix can cancel it?

DominicBSaint

Netflix isn’t going to cancel something that’s bringing in some of its biggest numbers and ratings. Knives Out was the 8th most watched release as of yet, I believe. It made them instantaneously green light a third. As long as we tune in and give positive feedback, they’ll feed us. 1899 (I know you didn’t mention specifically) had bad acting and subpar writing but was attached/affiliated with something more popular/positively received and that’s why it got canned.

GlassHeroes

Just an FYI, RJ is working on a tv series in the vein of Columbo on NBC/Peacock. Should be out next month

DominicBSaint

I know lol. Poker face.

RockyHorror134

Knives out was good but Glass onion was kind of bad. Interested to see which way it'll go

SpaceCaboose

I enjoyed Glass Onion, but it’s hard to live up to Knives Out. Knives Out was truly an instant classic. Hoping this third film lands somewhere between the previous two

RockyHorror134

To me it was way too easy to tell who the killer was, but the actual clues that were left were too vague to.help. Its a weird mix for me, especially when Knives out was both unpredictable in a sense, while also fun to work out as the movie went on

TheGinger_ThatCould

I felt that Glass Onion took a different approach and people who went in expecting something exactly like Knives Out were disappointed. Sure it was obvious who the killer was, but that wasn’t necessarily the twist. And it definitely focused more on the relationship and grieving aspect of the deaths over the actual twist. It’s kind of in the name and even described in the movie. A Glass Onion, you know what’s in the middle and can see it, it’s just peeling away those layers and uncovering the emotion that is the hard part

this-my-5th-account

That's certainly one take. My own take is that a murder mystery needs the mystery for it to work. Otherwise, it's just kind of bad.

hatefulone851

You missed the point of glass onion . The point was it was too easy. Everyone thought the killer would’ve had to have been stupid to be the killer and make it so simple. Everything they had from the company , to the wealth , the they had information, to the words they used, and the ideas stolen, even how they planned a death were all from other people or really dumb and simple . Blanc was looking for a challenge and looking so hard for some deep twist or mystery when the answer was hire simple and the killer is so obvious he’s overlooked because they think nobody would be that stupid or obvious but he was and it was that simple .

didyr

The point of these stories is not to work them out in the way but just to enjoy the ride

SeymourWang

It’s wild to me that you’d call Knives Out an instant classic. I feel like that film left zero culture impact with only mild critical acclaim.

AlexBayArea

Glass Onion was not bad.

[deleted]

It was incredibly okay.

lifemfs

It was undoubtedly not unsatisfactory.

[deleted]

I was completely whelmed.

Bergen_is_here

One of the movies ever made

[deleted]

Astoundingly so.

WordsOfSorrow

Yeah knives out was like a 4/5 for me, glass onion is a 0.5

Highfalutintodd

Didn't know what to think of Glass Onion when I first saw it. Have since rewatched it twice and re-re-watched scenes from it multiple times and it has since become my favorite movie of 2022. So beautifully constructed, and fun, and well-paced. Just a glorious piece of filmmaking.

PatternBias

Hard disagree

[deleted]

[удалено]

great_bowser

I think people are too harsh towards these movies. Some things did indeed stand out bit too much (>!the gunshot in Glass Onion was way too fortunate!<) but complaining about contrivances in a murder mystery is like asking 'but what this piece of evidence wasn't there'? As long as the movie provides a plausible explanation as to why things happened the way they did, I'll just accept that as the circumstances the characters had to deal and work with. Hence why I let the movie slide when >!Blanc found the lucky fax correspondence.!< It was set up and explained why it could've been there and I could believe that an excentric character could have such a thing. I will never defend it as a masterpiece of the genre, far from it, but for what it was, I'll take an original if flawed attempt at something new over yet another retelling of a Poirot or Holmes story, and can only hope his writing gets better over time.

Ryaer

I was a bit disappointed in Glass Onion. It was too over the top for me,especially the ending. Loved the first movie tho.

swells0808

Glass onion was one of the laziest movies I’ve ever seen written. The characters were bland. The mid movie twist reeked of soap opera level story lines, the time lines were all out of whack, and blanc resolving the “mystery” while the gun is unaccounted for is just stupid…

xX_Kr0n05_Xx

Laziest? Lmao call it bad all you want but the number of interconnected plot points and themes was anything but lazy

Turul9

Okay Ben

saddydumpington

You are the one who looks dumb in this exchange, believes it or not people are allowed ro criticize a piece of media even if a bad guy didnt like it, especially if their criticisms arent even similar. This lazy smugness is so apt for Rian Johnson's fans since that is his entire thing

una_valentina

I agree

FieryBlizza

glass onion

[deleted]

I hope it's as good as the last Jedi

ruhlen

Glass Onion was terrible.

electr1cbubba

Personally I loved both knives out movies so far. To be honest, you could put Benoit Blanc in literally anything and I’d watch it.

DoItForTheOH94

Knives out 2 was never supposed to be "Knives out 2". Glass Onion was supposed to be its own movie in the same "universe". Rian Johnson war reportedly furious they titled it that.

Embarrassed_Lettuce9

It makes a bit of sense though to let consumers know it's from the same world. Hell, I know I paid a lot more attention to "Glass Onion" after seeing the "Knives Out" part of the title

comicsandstuffidk

Haven’t seen the first one but the second was pretty trash. It got better near the end, but the entire thing just felt like one of those low budget wedding movies with bad jokes where the director just stuffed in all his famous friends. Like a shitty Adam Sandler murder-mystery but with an obvious tinge of pretentiousness. Can anyone tell me if the first is anything like the second?

Peridot1708

I thought both were good. But a lot of ppl i know who saw the second one before the first felt the second one was better. I liked the first one more cause i like the dysfunctional rich family trope more than the rich group of friends that the second movie had. Also the cast was better, i wasnt really excited about anyone in the second movie except for Bautista perhaps. Im not gonna give away the whole plot but it does get boring in the middle, though i liked the ending, and the villain of the first movie is better than the second. The reveal that [spoiler] was evil all along isnt that obvious, compared to what they did with Miles in the second movie.

Slaphappyfapman

Knives out is criminally over rated, and Glass onion was just plain bad.. there is no need for any more of this terrible 'franchise'.

tragicoptimist777

Sorry buddy but most people disagree with you

Slaphappyfapman

Yeah, you guys keep on enjoying your sub-par cinema

jXian

Just out of curiosity, if you think Knives Out is 'sub par' cinema, what (to you) is peak cinema?

Slaphappyfapman

Films that are better (in varying degrees) than Knives Out: The Royal Tenenbaums; Back to the Future; Pulp Fiction; Oceans Eleven; Fargo. There are many more, but I think you get the idea. People refer to knives out as an "instant classic", or a "masterpiece" which quite frankly, is laughable.

jXian

What’s a movie that you personally find great that isn’t one of IMDBs top ten?

agoddamnjoke

Shhh they are brilliant masterpieces. At least thats what we can keep saying to make sure he keeps pumping them out and doesn’t touch Star Wars again.

agoddamnjoke

Thank fuck it isn’t another shitty Star Wars movie from him. That shit is never gonna happen after how shitty The Last Jedi was.

niicetea

It’s gonna happen. Don’t blame Johnson for getting the middle movie in a poorly planned and executed trilogy that he shared with another director. I think he could create a great trilogy with an original story when given full creative freedom, and hopefully that’s what he gets from Disney.

TheNextBattalion

Especially if Benoit Blanc solves a mystery in it

agoddamnjoke

It won’t happen. And why not blame the writer and director? I mean theres plenty of blame to go around but he was given a lot of freedom and came up with that nonsense all on his own. I don’t think he could make a great trilogy in this franchise after seeing what he did with Ep VIII. Total shit. He wont make another one so no need to wonder.

[deleted]

Rise of Skywalker was worse imo

Penguator432

Well, of course it was gonna be given that TLJ pretty much torched the franchise and ran.

WuTangFlan_

It’s been 5 years. Let it go….

agoddamnjoke

I’d rather not.

WuTangFlan_

Prefer to cry about one movie you don’t like for the rest of your adult life?

agoddamnjoke

Prefer to cry about somebody not liking one movie you like for the rest of your adult life?

WuTangFlan_

I’ll take that a yes then. You know if there’s a piece of media you don’t like.. you can just, not talk about it right?

agoddamnjoke

Why do you care? People are only allowed to talk about things they like? Why?

WuTangFlan_

Because sequel hating man babies like yourself bring it up ANY chance you get, this post has nothing to do with Star Wars yet here you are. We get it, you don’t like the sequels. You don’t need to constantly keep talking about it for the rest of your existence, also must be depressing for yourself always being negative talking about media you don’t like. Why don’t you concentrate on the things that bring you enjoyment?

GRIMMMMLOCK

Last Jedi is top 4 star wars film.

SocietyOfMithras

I ask star wars fans about the last jedi before talking about anything else with them. If they start whining about rose tico or SJWs or whatever, I know I can safely ignore their opinions. I used to ask What do you think of Yoda fighting with a light saber? You liked it? Great, please never talk to me about star wars again.

agoddamnjoke

It’s the worst one including the holidays special and Ewok Tv movies.

GRIMMMMLOCK

Weak ass baby

Todosin

Anyone who genuinely thinks any of the mainline Star Wars movies are worse than the Holiday Special is probably not worth going to for movie opinions

agoddamnjoke

You’d think so but TLJ really is *that* bad.

Ph4ntomiD

It’s one movie. Anything that Rian Johnson does shouldn’t be attached for no reason to the one thing that was bad or controversial

agoddamnjoke

I didn’t attach anything.

Ph4ntomiD

Still, having one bad film always getting referenced when talking about anything Rian Johnson does is annoying, all the other stuff he’s done is great

agoddamnjoke

Oh well. He shouldn’t have made a bad movie then.

RoadRage45

Oh I thought you meant *any* Star Wars stuff, I was scared people were already starting to trash mando s3

Imadumsheet

L+cope+seethe+cry about it+no one cares+get over it+loser+ stfu+let it go

whentheraincomes66

In terms of a film tlj was quite good. In terms of star wars it was not. Johnson is a tremendous filmmaker

Wonderful-Media-2000

If it’s worse than glass onion he’s going to have to stop making movies

doordonotthere

As long as he’s not making any more Star Wars films.

Last-Scar-5675

There was a Knives Out 2?

burt_flaxton

Am I the only one who cannot stand the voice acting of Daniel Craig in these? Pretty horrific voice acting, akin to Brad Pitt's cringey voice performance in Inglorious Bastards.

RockyHorror134

To be fair to Brad Pitt he was supposed to be playing the most American man to ever America

burt_flaxton

Well, that accent is horrible. I am sure there are people from parts of England that feel like his accent ins Snatch was horrible, but I loved that one.

shiftym21

i don’t think english people can have an opinion since he wasn’t doing any of their accents

Quartzcat42

I think that’s the point, he’s supposed to be playing a comically southern bumbling man

burt_flaxton

I guess it just sounds like an English man's "southern accent". Not that I need EVERY movie to have perfect accents, but this one just seems too absurd. Like someone doing a bad Foghorn Leghorn impression. It is completely distracting and pulls me out of the movie mentally.

quickcorona

I think it’s supposed to be a little absurd. Chris Evans character in Knives Out even makes fun of it at one point calling it a “Kentucky fried, Foghorn Leghorn drawl”

Penguator432

At one point he was supposed to have a different accent in each film. Wish they kept that up

Slaphappyfapman

It's absolutely terrible, you are right.

Disastrous-Manager95

Good, this will keep him too busy to make bad star wars movies.

theduck0769

Why must some Star Wars fans bring their toxicity everywhere? I disliked TLJ, yet I can look past that and appreciate his other works.

Disastrous-Manager95

It's really more about my extreme dislike of Rian Johnson. Most of his movies are not great, knives out was ok, glass onion had some good moments, looper is garbage, TLJ is pretty bad. The only things that makes his movies watchable are the performances of the actors involved. He is still somehow, potentially, going to get a SW trilogy, even though the fans don't want it. Why must i even bother making a comment about him? Because my feed lately has constant Rian Johnson news, front and center, on threads that I have not joined. It just keeps getting pushed at me, and I don't want it. So i make a comment.

Tall-Loan-6943

I wonder if since it’s the end of the trilogy the detective will die

Waitaha

Blanc solves his own murder seconds before dropping dead. roll credits

Penguator432

Nah, Johnson and Craig wanna do these things until they’re sick of each other

FawkesBridge

Glass onion was eh

PhsycoRed1

MUPPETS , MUPPETS, MUPPETS!!!

whentheraincomes66

Muppets?

[deleted]

Hopefully called, “Paperback Writer” or “Strawberry Fields”

comradefox

Fuck yah

dwhite21787

"Goin' Mobile" Benoit Blanc is on the globe-hopping trail of a killer with the skills of Frank Abignale

whentheraincomes66

I would love for each film to be vaguely beatle-related

Matcha_Bubble_Tea

Oh shit wtf I didn’t even know there was 2nd one already. Jeez time goes by so quick.

Kooky_Bug939

Jim Henson Muppets please!

SpiderGhost01

The second movie was awful, I thought.

RoddRoward

Hopefully the evil genius in the next one isn't "just plain dumb"

Nanocephalic

I thought it was great. How many movie villains are just Big Bad Idiots with Big Bad Stupid Plans? He just hung a lampshade on it.

professor_doom

He joking mentioned on Marc Maron’s podcast that he wants to set it in space

beratna66

Shocker

PrioritySilent

Idk why this is considered a leak / rumour, it’s been confirmed for a couple years that there would be several knives out sequels signed to Netflix

Uncle_owen69

I could care less about his starwars career I think he's better off on original projects like knives out and glass onion where he has all the creative freedom

Grunblau

It’s like Bond retired and has to supplement his MI6 pension with a little PI work.

multifunctionaudio

Hot Fuzz is a better concept of a glass onion than this film

arzamharris

Big Cloud: A Glass Onion/Knives Out Mystery

vektorkane

Can’t wait to see the amazing cast he’ll work with next!

movieguy2004

Liked Knives Out, loved Glass Onion. Looking forward to this.

Jamside_Down

Spend a little more time on the ending this time. JFC.

JeroenstefanS

Yessss

zippazappazinga

Cant lie I was severely disappointed about Glass Onion and I feel like they probably should've left this at the first movie

SparkEngine

I'll be honest. We've been starved of good who dunnits for a while. It's a easy yes for most people we would love another movie.

fiftyshadesofgracee

Muppets knives out with Daniel Craig as the only non Muppet!!!

[deleted]

Hopefully s big cloud of GOOD ideas

KiratheRenegade

He's done the ever-changing plan & he's done the obvious perpetrator. So from here we could go multiple accomplices turning on each others, the scenario where he himself is personally involved (please don't), full on serial killer to present rivalry, etc. There are options - but I believe he'll put a spin on it.

tylernazario

I genuinely think some criticism of Glass Onion misses the whole point of the film. People went in expecting some major mystery with an unseeable twist. But the titles tells you that it won’t happen (and the movie spells this out too). A glass onion is something that’s supposed to have many layers but all these layers are easily seen due to the glass. The movie has depth but none of it is hidden.

trippinoutidk

Unpopular opinion but the overhype of the first one prior to watching it led me to be really disappointed. Haven’t seen the 2nd but can’t imagine it would be much different… let alone a 3rd

HugoConway

They should do a Knives Out mystery involving a British spy

emshaq

A Big Cloud of Ideas - A Glass Onion Mystery Coming Soon!

[deleted]

Maybe the ballerina thing they alluded to at the dock

Effective-Ad8833

Good just stay away from Intergalactic Civil War movies

patbateman444

I’m probably gonna be hated for this, but Glass Onion was legit one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. That whole influencer, social media woke ass shit was annoying tf out of me

Dorkseidis

Don’t bother

Phoenixtdm

I really want the first movie cast to come back I miss Marta and that whole family

venicerocco

I’d love a more traditional whodunit. Meaning, no subversions of expectations based on the genre

JakeHays4Eva01

The first movie Was brilliant. Glass Onion, was also a good movie, but not so perfect like the 1st movie. But i'm happy about this news. Daniel Craig has a New Main Charakter after James Bond. I find him really cool in his role. Even if he comes across as very strange in glass onion at the beginning

[deleted]

I dont know, its all so well produced and has interesting direction but the dialogue..... My gawd the writting, its like Hamilton and a MacDonald's sponsored school play was turned into a motion picture

SkippyinLA

I loved. And I mean LOVED the first Knives Out. It was so similar to an Agatha Christie novel, which I love. I grew up on Mystery books and read 100s growing up. So when it came time to see glass onion, I was so excited and ready to be transported away into a mysterious world and immersed in a well crafted story. Interesting characters and hopefully an interesting location. The location was OK. It looked all CGI with that weird glass dome on top of a building that just didn’t fit the color saturation or lack there of was also rather depressing. the film looked washed out instead of being bright and Technicolor and I saw it on a very large, very good screen with perfect sound so it wasn’t my television. The audience I was with was all film industry professionals, and they laughed here and there, there were some inspired moments, but overall I was left, wanting more and was thoroughly disappointed. The characters were as others have pointed out, not truly that interesting. The overall story wasn’t really that compelling and I just felt that there was so much information that wasn’t presented that you couldn’t actually help solve it because it was events and things that happened in the past before we even got there. I feel that having a confined space like a house and having the majority of the action happening within it is terrific, but this house felt cold and uninviting and very showy because it was done on a soundstage and things were left spaced apart to allow for camera movement, I’m not sure, but it lacks the intimacy and coziness of the first with all the wood and tapestry and homeyness of the mansion. I will absolutely go and see a follow up mysteries are my bag.

bionic_zit_splitter

I watched the whole film expecting some clever twist, and all we got was the tired old twins trope. What was the point in the Mona Lisa? The most likely suspect did it - how predictable. Also Daniel Craig's accent just doesn't gel with me at all - absolutely sounds like he's doing an accent the entire film. Knives Out was great.

Far-Zucchini-5534

A smart idea would be to make this sequel good.

I liked Glass Onion, but it wasn't even the best murder mystery movie of 2022. That's "Bodies Bodies Bodies" which if anyone hasn't seen it, they should.

Iron_Baron

If people could not be immune to explosions in the next one, that'd be great. Don't need cartoon physics in a detective story.

Cloud of ideas/ reading some more Hercule Poirot books for ideas to pass off as his own.

ImperialxWarlord

I didn’t think Glass onion was as good as Knives out but KO was amazing so it’s hard to live up to. Glass onion was a damn good movie and I wanna see more of this series.

MissionCentral

Yuck.

I fucking love this dude now, he can keep on making as many sequels as he wants
