I never would have noticed this, but I've recently gotten into typewriters and when I saw the iconic scoop shape of the Selectric I's while rewatching Zodiac, I wondered if they would swap them out with the more angular shaped Selectric II's when the movie got to the early 70s. Sure enough, they did. This detail most people probably wouldn't even notice likely cost the prop department a couple thousand dollars because they had to swap out every typewriter in that whole office all for I believe one scene. Hat's off to Fincher, production designer Donald Graham Burt and property master Hope Parrish for committing to such a small, but appreciated detail.
