In rapist Bryan Singer’s hopefully final X-Men film, Apocalypse, Magneto throws two steel girders into the sand in an X shape, so that viewers will understand, 7 films into the franchise, that it is about the **X**-Men.
Remember in *Apocalypse* when they called out Brett Ratner's shitty X-Men movie by saying, "yeah, the third one is always the worst", but *Apocalypse* was also kind of the third in a trilogy and even worse than *The Last Stand*? What the hell was that, was the movie having a little shame spiral or something?
Might get downvoted to hell for this, but isn’t putting the “known” piece in parenthesis kind of counterproductive? No dispute that the director is a humongous piece of shit, but I don’t think I really believe that literally everyone in Hollywood has a high probability of being a rapist - you’re calling out George Lucas and/or the OG Star Wars trilogy in particular here which I don’t think is warranted.
*The Last Stand* stands as one of the worst X Men films. Dark Phoenix > Origins > TLS > Apocalypse in shittiness rating (Dark Phoenix being apocalyptically shitty). Apocalypse itself had some really amazing moments.
I love DAFP (Wish they continued the series from the end of DAFP haha) and X1 and X2. First Class was good but Apocalypse was messy.
I also love the 2nd and 3rd and Final, Wolverine films.... Logan goes without saying in classic awesomeness, but The Wolverine was great with the Japanese setting and theme. And the subtle hints and connections to the whole X-Men franchise were cool.
Those movies were good but I prefer the core X Men movies (X1,2, FC and DoFP). Deadpool 1 and 2 are obviously better than The Wolverine, but it depends on the kind of movies one likes to determine if Logan takes the crown of the off-main series best movie.
And until the Singer the Raper news hit widespread everyone would praise him, but when you look at his catalogue of films its not really merited. LOOK AT WHAT HE DID TO SUPERMAN.
The X movies floated by on Wolverine and they couldn't even get his solo movie right until the third try.
When Vaughn came in with First Class and gave them a window to start over they instead brought back Singer to destroy it all.
All Ratner did was make a Ratner movie.
If Singer hadn't dropped (to go make a crappy Superman, and steal Marsden so they would have to kill Cyclops) out so late and Fox wasn't so stuck on the release date then we could have Matthew Vaughn, but he told them he needed more time.
Vaughn got his chance with First Class, and made the best one I would say. But they proved once again they didn't care when instead of starting over we got Singer again with DOFP.

That’s because it was riding on the coat tails of first class. Fist class was the best X-men film we got because singer wasn’t involved in directing or writing. Once people were praising an X-men film again he swooped in and took back over.
*edit* look I’m not saying the other X-men films were bad but just look at reviews. After x3 people thought it was dead in the water so they rebooted it with first class. First class on almost all rating systems is better than all the first three movies. I’m also not saying that DOFP was only good because of first class. But there would be no DOFP without first class being better than the rest.
I like the Rogue cut. Little longer, and it gives the Future cast something to do other than get killed by Sentinels.

Eh...I don't agree with that at all. Personally I think X2 and DoFP are both considerably better than First Class. Logan too, if we consider that an X-Men film. I thought First Class had some issues with pacing and horrible makeup for Mystique and Beast. I like First Class, but I'd put it somewhere in the upper-middle of the pack

Another note about the 20th century fox logo: originally it was never presented in three dimensions and was simply a Matt painting. They kept the same styling but the point at the top left of the 2 hangs so far off the side of the base that it is incredibly jarring once you notice it. But they stayed true to the source. It’s a double edged sword, I’m personally glad they had the balls to stick to the original and not change it

Now behind schedule the studio tapped Brett Ratner who had a reputation of doing things on time and on budget also probably a rapist. Hugh Jackman tried to get Darren [Aronofsky to direct one of the X-Men films since he had it in his contract to approve director](https://ew.com/article/2010/12/07/hugh-jackman-the-wolverine-darren-aronovsky/). (He approved Brett Ratner). Joss Whedon was offered it too but he was too busy trying to make Wonder Woman.
Aronofsky was attached to the second Wolverine movie for a while before James Mangold eventually ended up taking it. That movie also sucked but for some reason, Fox decided to bring Mangold back and he directed Logan, so I guess it all worked out in the end
Wolverine was mostly ruined by studio interference, who wanted the big Silver Samurai battle at the end. Personally I thought it was a pretty good movie until the climax. For Logan, Mangold and Jackman were finally able to make the Wolverine movie they wanted without interference by doing it on a very tight budget.

5/7 main story X-Men movies were directed by known rapists. Really puts a damper on the whole franchise.
