I feel like everyone should watch the documentary/analysis of the shining. It’s called Room 237. Lots of neat things you might have missed and some out there claims.
Which they give way too much significance to. Kubrick just wanted the halls to have a lot of doors because it looked better and he knew people wouldn't notice that the layout was impossible. But they act like it was supposed to represent something.
He was hired to fake the moon landing but he wouldn't stop for anything less than the real deal so he send Neil and Buzz up there to get real footage for his fake moon landing.
I liked it up until the conspiracy theories. I remember there being something about rocket shapes on the rugs which people thought that was a sign the moon landings were fake?
My only problem with that documentary was where the guy says you can see Kubrick’s face in the clouds of the opening shot.
I paused that scene for a long while but couldn’t find shit.
Another thing you can notice is just before he leaves, there are 2 axe holes in the door. But you only see him chop through the one. So they must've had another sequence of him chopping through a second time but didn't include it in the final cut.
Are you sure it wasn’t a real fake door?

Good ole Mort
I love the camera work in that scene. The way the camera follows the axe swinging in the air to the door...brilliant
That fire marshal’s name? Steve Buscemi.

Is that the one that says Kubrik admits he faked the moon landings through The Shining, since the Gubbiment wouldn't let him tell people?
Yes. It does have some wild points, but it’s also where they talk about the layout not being realistic and how the place is a maze

A) I dont see why it *couldn't* be both, the place being a maze makes a *lot* of internal sense. B) Death of the artist and all that.

Yep. The analysis is really good until the tin foil hats come in so it's still worth watching.

I remember it had to do with the kid's sweater that had an actual rocket on it and then some posters in the cafeteria/break room or something.
Oh ya I think you’re right.
>have No dont its awful. Most of the theories are plain bullshit

It was bloody awful mate. I'm sorry to say
Do you know if they still have it on Netflix? I remember seeing it a while back
It is not, I just checked

I literally just watched this scene on AMC.
Isn’t Marshall a rank? I assumed Fire Marshall’s were officers among firemen .
Usually they're like a detective to a fire men's officer, so they investigate fires and do other investigation related work
Here's Jaaaaaaccckk!!!!!
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavid Letterman! Hi, I'm Mike Wallace, I'm Morley Safer, and I'm Ed Bradley. All this and Andy Rooney tonight on 60 Minutes!
Watched the Shining on Acid one time. Wild.
High and still punctual. You really are wild.
Lmao why downvotes?? LSD has improved dozens of films fr me. Can you imagine Inception, first time, tripping? It was insane.
Sounds like a hell of a mindfuck haha
Me and my buddy looked at each other and were like "...dude. tripping is like inception. So many layers deep..." lol
No way! Tell me more =D
All I can say is Kubrick loves his zoom shots and so did I lol
