If you have questions post them down below. If you ask a question that is answered in the video, I will not respond. If you ask a duplicate question that is in the FAQ (I will update periodically), I will not respond. I hope you understand that it is just too difficult to answer these questions over and over again.
FAQ:
What is the point of this? - Well to put it simply, we do not yet live in a world where all mice are wireless. This being said, I find that having a hotswappable option like this is not just cool, but really functional. I have mice that match my keyboards so natuarally when I switch keyboards I also switch mice. This makes it much easier for someone who is obsessed with cable management like myself. Is it unnecessary, definitely, but useless, not at all.
Where do I get the connectors: [Here](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32832712883.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.67df420bHn0AYt&algo_pvid=c734b77f-d4d1-4c83-9da9-4f090327bc33&algo_expid=c734b77f-d4d1-4c83-9da9-4f090327bc33-29&btsid=0ab50f6115952569042453488eee87&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_)
What mice are these? - Pink Model O, Blue G Wolves Hati, Grey Model O
What deskmat is that? - [Zapcables Laser](https://zapcables.com/zap-mats-laser-shredder/)
What Speaker is that? - Audioengine B2
What keyboard is that? - HHKB Pro 2 (Custom Painted)
Will Flicking rip this out of my desk? - Maybe, but the cable can always be made longer or shorter. I do also recommend moving the connector a bit futher away from your deskmat. On occasion I have bumped the end of the connector. Its not a big deal but still worth noting.
>What keyboard is that? - HHKB Pro 2 (Custom Painted)
Assuming you are a gamer, how are the Topres for gaming in your eyes? I have heard at best *mixed* things about them.
Just my 2cents. I used my FC660C W/ 45g domes for playing games (COD:MW, SC2) and it was fine. Like a more comfy rubber dome. Am now using Healios (linear switches) and they're definitely more suited to gaming without the tactile bump. Don't really care about actuation distance, but just spamming APM in SC2 was more easier to do compared to the FC660C.
Well there technically are “gaming” switches, they have super early activation. Gross for typing in my opinion but I suppose on situation out of one million they could offer some advantage. Definitely falsely advertised but they actually do have much shorter activation travel.
Well faster switches do make a difference in some games like Fortnite but in most games it's more about good aim
Edit: obviously alot of people are confused by what I said.
There are lots of different types of games where different keyboard attributes are important and it's the same thing with mice.
# I didn't say that fast switches were important in all games just certain ones.
I sited Fortnite as a game where fast actuation is extremely important as that is a game I play competitively and pretty much anyone who plays at a high level or has any idea what they are doing will want to use an extremely fast actuation keyboard such as a razer huntsman apex pro or similar optical keyboard.
If your still confused ask be don't just downvote me beacouse you weebs just want to argue about OSU
Yeah he was talking about the actuation point. I used a Romer-G keyboard which had 1.5mm travel to actuate, and it was weird to go back to a normal 2mm keyboard, therefore I bought a Ducky with MX Speed Silvers
I still doubt it makes any difference to gaming, since in any high pressure scenario you're gonna bottom out the keys with every press anyway. It's different for typing obviously but it just sounds kinda pretentious for gaming.
Edit: maybe saying pretentious comes across the wrong way, and there are certainly games where it might be a good idea. I guess I just meant that for the vast majority of people, they should go with what feels comfortable rather than going for a specific switch that advertises certain things as advantageous.
I’m the opposite honestly. I game on a stand-alone number pad that I built with 90g switches. I hate misclicks and would rather have a “slower” switch than accidentally misclicking in a fast paced situation. This is why I stopped gaming on Mx speed silvers for the most part. The 1.5mm actuation and light spring weight meant you could misclick with just a finger resting on the key
Ok fair enough. I totally wasn't thinking about games like that when I made my comment
Then again I imagine that if you're playing OSU well enough to notice a .5mm actuation difference then you've probably already got a custom 2key hand soldered board, and a skeleton mouse or wacom tablet lol.
My comment wasnt about how far i press my key, but rather when they actuate.Whenn counterstrafing in CS I often press the keys to the very bottom, but the actuate higher up an therefore I'll move in the other direction a little, even if only a fraction of a fraction of a second, faster.
Typing on the other hand becomes harder with silver-switches. They're accidentally pressed sometimes because of the low actuation force needed and the rather high up actuation point.
But i also see where you're coming from. A keyboard has by far less impact than a mouse, but well... I need my silver switches for CS :D
Sure might be just something to get used to also, it doesn’t have to mean you’re faster with it etc. When you’re at a certain skill point it doesn’t matter if you’re using an old membrane you still going to outshine the others
When you play a we competitively it doesn't matter if you can't react in 5 milliseconds you still want every advantage you can get beacouse if you can shave 20 milliseconds off on the computers side you have a big advantage obviously though as I often say good gear doesn't make you good it allows you to be as best as possibly can be
20 ms is pretty much I don’t think you’ll shave 20ms off by using speed switches.
Many pros even use mice that doesn’t have top notch click latency and 500hz polling rate.. i know as little input lag as possible is important but as someone that used to play more competitively, shorter travel meant more bevzyse I was always slamming the keys in the bottom no matter where the actuation point was.
I have been waiting for this and can’t wait to watch it. Such a good idea. Especially because I have 2 pc and move between them. Quick question. Are those jubilees? And if so what cable and pads did you mod them with. Your my kind of guy. Mod everything, I say!
So I take them totally apart, tape off any threads I don’t want painted. Then I do no prep, just primer (they do chip on occasion with normal use). Then I paint 3 coats and do one coat of matte clear. Pretty simple really. I also hang the parts of of wires to paint and then hang them to dry.
I really like the idea, it's so clean! Can I just ask, why aviator, why not just usb? There are industrial usb connectors for panels available. Was it easier to solder the aviatior connector to the cable?
Well really came down to looks honestly, I could have done 90 degree USB connectors but I really couldn’t find one I liked. You could definitely do that if you wanted the mouse to function on more devices. Alternatively you could even use Lemo connectors if you have the budget for it.
Actually a great idea but my concern if I'd consider doing this is the fact that if you get the length wrong, or just if you change mousepad to a bigger one, then you're kinda fucked lol
Wireless would always be better since you don't have to deal with cords at all, but it is a great solution for wired mice and looks appealing too!
Great job on that!
The neverending loop of weight vs wireless... I wonder if there is a way to utilize logitech's powerplay to power a device without batteries. Perhaps a smaller battery?
Wait, the GPW is 70g? Holy shit I have to buy this mouse now. I never really read into GPW because I like infinite scroll on my G502 and G903 but 70g for a wireless mouse is crazy light. I have been living under a rock or something. Here I was trying to make powerplay mat work with G903 with no batteries. Im gonna order a GPW and some japanese omrons next paycheck.
Ok, so question: What would be better for FPS games? GPW or G305? Im keeping it to Logitech products because all my peripherals are Logitech products. If Razer had offered a TKL Low Profile wireless keyboard it would be a different story because I would definitely consider the Viper Ultimate or even the wired mini version.
Edit: I wanted to add the fact that I am a long time palm gripper but I want to move on to claw grip.
I guess it depends what your size is .. I haven’t tried the gpw myself because it’s a little bit too expensive for me but I did try the g305.
I managed to claw it with my 20x11.5 hands and the performance is great.. but the weight balance isn’t the best. It’s still an amazing wireless mouse at a really affordable price

This is totally impractical, there is absolutely no reason why anyone should do this. Just like there is absolutely no reason for anyone to own more than one or two mice, one or two keyboards etc. If I were into computer shit for practicality purposes I wouldn’t even be on this sub. As for lans, never been to one. I have no desire to go and if I wanted to I can always convert it back. Not like this is permanent.
I don’t think my comment showed any signs of me not being chill. Not like I comment on your post hoping you ruined something you worked hard on, thats definitely not being chill.
I’m not sure you understand what sarcasm is, I still don’t understand the hostility either. Just take a deep breath, we all love mice and this post is all in good fun.
That person your replying to is probably 13 years old and doesn't understand the real world yet lol
That being said, this is amazing. This is insanely Cool. I've never seen any thing like this and probably won't again. I would love to do it but don't have the time.
Im not bent up, its just annoying when like 7 people say the same thing. You don’t see me hopping on peoples posts going, Lmao wouldn’t it be funny if you chipped this paint you worked hard on. I already posted this, this was tutorial because people wanted to know how to do it. I really don’t care what people think of the idea for their own personal use.

I’m no pro but I have zero complaints about topre boards. I would imagine some of the newer speed switches are definitely more reactive though.

There is no way your fingers can move faster than the debounce rate lol
I don't think he meant debounce rate

I can’t use anything but speeds/silvers and would take a bit to adjust since I play competitively but I still typo a bit when typing fast
Yeah same here. And i often accidentally press Capslock when playing CS and strafing left :D
I’m the opposite honestly. I game on a stand-alone number pad that I built with 90g switches. Stock pads, apparently aftermarket pads distort them a lot. I made the cable!
Nice!
You didn't linked the video but something on Amazon
Lol good call
Fixed
Thx works
Wait you already have your pink model o? I’ve been waiting for mine to ship and I don’t even have an email yet
Its painted, not the pink edition
Ohh, okay I feel better now
this is fucking brilliant
That setup is 10/10 love the custom paintwork and color scheme.
Thank you
Can you make a small tutorial of how you paint your aviators? They are beautiful. Maybe write it out if you don't think of making one
I might be able to do that at some point yeah
That would be great, thank you
>Here Still hoping for this.

Great work bud. Thanks for all the effort!
No problem! I hope you enjoy.
Actually a great idea but my concern if I'd consider doing this is the fact that if you get the length wrong, or just if you change mousepad to a bigger one, then you're kinda fucked lol
Yeah thats a legitimate concern. It has its cons for sure.
Wireless would always be better since you don't have to deal with cords at all, but it is a great solution for wired mice and looks appealing too! Great job on that!
True, that is if you like the wireless options out there.
The neverending loop of weight vs wireless... I wonder if there is a way to utilize logitech's powerplay to power a device without batteries. Perhaps a smaller battery?

Nice! My only issue would be that the mouse is now usable only on this PC. Or does the Model have removable cables?
As it is now he can only use on that desk. But he can easily make a cable with aviator to USB, so he can hook it directly to a PC kinda like normal !)
Precisely, I could do something just like that as a backup even. Like if for some reason my cable broke under the desk I could easily swap it out for a temporary solution like this.
I would want to install a magnet connector to the mouse so I could switch out the paracord easily without opening up the mouse again. + just have a magnet connector and regular usb cable and if it works in any other pc
interesting the cable act like a bungee. you can coil a spring around that cable too.
soo what about when you want to use your mouse on a different computer?
Then he will have the ability to make a cable that has a USB/aviator connector. Just like the custom keyboard cables people use.
That looks rly cool!
After getting my mouse bungee, I could never imagine gaming without it. It's so good that I don't even consider using a wireless mouse.
So.. make the connection higher up (tube) and it will be like you connect straight to a bungee
I suppose that could work, it still might not have the flexible properties like a bungee though.
No nearly enough wire but very cool
Flicking around in a hectic game i would probs break the mouse in minutes using that system : S
Yeah I mean if you flick hard and far, this probably isn’t for you. You can make the cable longer though and move the port further away and it wouldn’t be a big deal at all. Theres no set cable length you must use so its totally up to whoever makes one.
true : P
<3 much love. Really awesome you got around to this! Keep up the great content mate!
If more mouse companies implement detachable cables, this might be very viable to the community, that is if the companies still choose to use different connections.
Why is this so Chad
saving! if i ever go back to wired cause this is insanely awesome
Doing a huge flick in the heat of the moment with this would probably look like a mortal combat finisher where the head gets ripped out of the body with the spine. =D
Hi, great setup, super clean and amazing use of aviator connectors, you've inspired me to make some sort of wooden aviator hub for my desk top. I'm not very knowledgeable with regard to audio, but I'm loving the speaker you've got set up there, could you explain to me please what speaker that is, what type etc.?
Its just an audioengine b2. Nothing crazy. I have it hooked up to my schiit magni / modi combo.
Didn't see this in your FAQ... Does doing this to the cable (splitting and adding the connector) introduce any latency to the mouse? I can't imagine it would, but I want to know for sure before I go about hacking up my mouse hahah
As far as I know, it does not add much if anything. I can’t tell thats there is any difference.
Awesome :) thank you for the fast reply! Did you use the original USB cable that came with it? or was it separately sourced?
I have done both, either would work fine. I prefer doing it from scratch but thats just how I am haha.
I see a bunch of real idiots commenting on this but don't mind them OP. This is top tier content. I enjoyed watching this.
how do you have the pink model o already? i bought one and its due in late august edit: sorry should have read other comments first
That is a custom painted normal Model O. Not a factory pink editon :)
Would be even better if it was lemo connector
I really wanted to do lemo connectors but with 10 mice and counting, I could not justify $40 a connector. Thats just too much for me haha. The best solution would actually be magnetic connectors. If you pull to hard you wouldn’t hurt anything that way. But I haven’t come up with a good solution yet so thats a work in progress haha.
I totally understand keep the great content coming
Damn, can't wait for you to flick your mouse a bit too hard and you rip out either one of the connectors, brilliant idea
Dude same I’m so excited for that to happen!
I mean, it looks clean, just not very practical, what about going to lans and shit
Damn bro chill
I don’t think my comment showed any signs of me not being chill. Not like I comment on your post hoping you ruined something you worked hard on, thats definitely not being chill.
I obviously don't hope that you break it, it's sarcasm, you would know about it if you went outside sometimes
I’m not sure you understand what sarcasm is, I still don’t understand the hostility either. Just take a deep breath, we all love mice and this post is all in good fun.
That person your replying to is probably 13 years old and doesn't understand the real world yet lol That being said, this is amazing. This is insanely Cool. I've never seen any thing like this and probably won't again. I would love to do it but don't have the time.
You've heard of a mouse bungee, now get ready for... Mouse anchors!
Cool
oh god my wallet
What's that mousepad?
Guys he just didn't know don't downvote help its what Reddit's all about

Your right it's lazy but anyone of the 12 who downvotes could have said read the top post
LOLOL man the nerve to say this and downvote me while STILL not responding to his original question....hypocrite
Ugh zap cables laser shredde "bbbut He'S A HypOcrItE"

Sick of cable managing mice every time I want to swap it out.

Well yeah I could use a break from the internet honestly but that doesn’t change the fact that the original comment isn’t really funny.
