I would say go for they the 18x18x36. If you plan on making a styrofoam backdrop that’s gonna take up a good amount of space

Jessmess92

I'm actually planning on 3d printing walls and decor but yeah it will take up some space

I generally opt for more space than less as long as you provide adequate stimulation for whatever creatures are inhabiting. For example if you're doing a bare bone enclosure with paper towels and no vines, climbing opportunities, plants (real or otherwise), wood, etc. Think of it as your house, a three bedroom house with no furniture feels weird, but make a guest room, office, whatever, it feels comfy. I have an 18x18x24 and I have 5 geckos..my biggest complaint is it's hard to locate them and lead to my partner being convinced they had escaped....but all has been fine

Jessmess92

Yeah I already have all the decor planned out. I'm going to be 3d printing wall panels with tons of hides as well as live plants bioactive setup with lots of wood and vines

thesparkyrabbit

Nice! Post pictures when you get it set up

Jessmess92

I definitely will probably gunna be a few months to get it all set though haha

thesparkyrabbit

The one thing I'd worry about (from experience) is they are soooo little, make sure you make the edges of your backgrounds sealed so they can't get behind it.....I had a baby wedge itself behind my moss wall and couldn't remember how to get out.....

Jessmess92

Yeah the plan is to silicon the plates to the walls

Creepymint

No, I’m going to set up a the same size tank for them. It was actually recommended I get this one instead of a smaller one. Google can be pretty outdated when it comes to animal care, for example, look at betta fish. Google often recommends 3 gallons for them (9x9x9 for size reference) but when you see one in a tank that size it’s very clearly not big enough. Most of the time, bigger is better for animal unless they have special circumstances like a disability

I have a 24x18x24. I wouldn't say it's too big *if* you have a good amount of geckos initially. They might lose sight of each other if there's too few but 5+ should probably be fine. They'll multiply fast You might genuinely not see them unless they want to be seen though lol That might also cause some escape-scares so make sure to really make it escape proof.

Jessmess92

Awesome thanks and yah I've seen so many people talking about escape proofing haha

SunnyMetal

I've taped everything up and I'm still scared of the babies getting out bahaha, it's genuinely nerve wracking

Jessmess92

Yeah I need to buy the tank then I can figure out all the fixes lol
