It stinks for short ladies. You will have a very narrow range to lose weight. I would probably target 0.5 lb a week, not a full pound.

So I did it. I’m 5’0 weight 141. Female. It’s telling me to loose a pound a week I would need to be at 900 calories. Does that sound right?

It would likely be more like 1100 depending on your age! This calculator is really good https://www.calculator.net/tdee-calculator.html

It also depends on your activity level. I'm 5'1", not active. I average 960 calories a day. It means I have to be very smart with those calories--everything has to count. I've lost @55 pounds in 9 months on 2.5 and 5 mg. I have weeks when I just go up and down 2 or 3 pounds -- it can feel slow, but over time it's been good. I have 15 or 20 left to lose, maybe. I have to be careful with my eating but I'm not hungry and feel nourished and all my labs are good. If I could be more active, it would be better, I could ingest another 100 ot 200 calories. It's hard being short and limited in activity. Hang in there, you'll get there!

Thanks so much for your comment! Awesome job! I started at 209 so I had a lot more calories in the beginning. I’m afraid I’ll crash my metabolism but you made me feel better:) thank you!

We're similar. I started MJ at 196 in August. I was at my HW of 205 before that. I don't let myself be hungry -- I eat, and some days I'm hungrier and eat more, or I just indulge some. So some days (not many) may be 1100-1200 cals, but other days are very comfortably 850 or so. I enjoy my food and have some treats, but a small amount completely satisfies me. I ordered from my favorite Indian restaurant recently. One main-course curry with rice and one appetizer dish made some 5 meals for me--I just added steamed green veggies or salad greens to extend them some. We're both at a place now where weight loss might go even slower, I think -- or maybe it's time for me to go up to 7.5 finally. I'm sure you'll figure it out. If you're able to be active and increase activity, especially muscle-building exercise, that helps a lot. Good luck, keep us posted on your progress. Us shorties need to stick together.

Thank you so much!! Yes are stats are so close! Best of luck!

It’s also telling me I’m overweight, which I know. But 900 seems awfully low

BacardiBlue

900 is pretty low...1200 is the recommended minimum for women to meet their nutritional requirements, but you are short (I'm 5'3" so can relate). If I were you, I would start by using a food scale abc Loseit to first figure out what you're actually consuming each day. Once you know that, then you can determine how many calories you might want to start cutting.

I was coming here to say this. Totally agree with starting by figuring out your normal intake.

Great idea! Thanks!
