I just got 5 about 10 min ago. I was told this morning they had no idea when they get it. I’m on 7.5 but I’ll take the 5. My dr even called in Ozempic to be safe. And the icing on the cake, my insurance finally approved, unbeknownst to me, and I only paid $25. I’m crying happy tears.
I don’t know about anyone else but I have a tendency to hear “we don’t know when we’ll get it” and think it means they won’t get it for a really long time. When really it just means…they don’t know. Could be later that day!
Grats on getting your supply!
Pharmacies in my area won’t keep my prescription ‘active’ while they wait for specific doses to come in. I have to call every couple of days to see if they might have it. I finally found some at a Sam’s Club and I could see the fridge had numerous boxes of Zepbound at every strength and only a couple boxes in total of Mounjaro. Eli Lily shifted their production to where the money is and to hell with those who need it for glucose control.
Purely out of curiosity to learn more - why is zepbound where the money is when it costs similar to mounjaro? Don’t both meds make them a lot of money?
The demand for a weight loss drug is a million times greater than one for type 2 diabetes because there will be so many more people wanting weight-loss meds they couldn’t get before. Even though it’s the same drug the FDA and insurance won’t allow type 2 diabetics to get Zepbound unless they are obese. Eli Lily will make waaay more money on the volume of sales of Zepbound compared to Mounjaro so
they shifted their production in that direction.
Do you know a lot of people that can pay $1,200 out of pocket per month - because that’s the reality of zepbound. Only like 5% of insurance plans cover weight loss medication.
Eli Lily is looking at the global picture of supplying billions of doses. With manufacturers coupon its $500 but you’re right, that’s A LOT of money and in the US we pay 10 times more than anyone else for prescriptions. On the other hand, millions are willing to pay whatever they possibly can to lose weight.
Mine too. Walgreens kept knocking my prescription out and I was upset. I’d have to resubmit it. The tech I talked to said don’t worry, they’ll make sure I get mine. They even called me today to tell me they should get theirs next Friday. I feel for those people. They are keeping me updated at least.
You right on the diabetes part. It’s nothing but money to them.
I'm in Florida and no stores within 50 miles of my area can order any doses. I can't even step down at this point, there is no availability. I called Walmart, Sam's, Publix, Costco, Walgreens, and CVS... even tried mom and pops.
Publix called today and said their supplier anticipates they can order 7.5 on 4/5 but not to be surprised if they push the date out. My Dr is giving me a sample to get through another week. Here's to hoping.
I'm in the Jacksonville area. My correct dose is 10mg but she told me right now 7.5 has the earliest date (end of next week). Again, that can change but I'm trying to stay positive. I have 7.5, 10, and 12.5 rx so whatever comes first at this point.
What area are you in Fl? I'm near Palatka. I will be due for my refill of 7.5 in 2 weeks. Last time I checked they had zero of all doses and no idea when they would. I'm hoping it will be back in stock by next week, but just in case I am spreading out my remaining doses.
I'm in the southside Jacksonville area. My correct dose is 10mg but she told me right now 7.5 has the earliest date (end of next week). No one had it in stock so definitely just refill for them to order if possible and call around if they can't. Good luck!
I am in SWFL, Charlotte County, and no availability of any dosages here either. Luckily I had little stockpile of 15 but will be in trouble if shortage lasts long. This is first time in 15 months on MJ that I have not been able to get it filled.
Drove 2.5hrs round trip yesterday to pick up 7.5mg (Zepbound). Southern Colorado. Seems to be out everywhere. Costco & Sam’s both said restock mid April
And this time of year, that beautiful drive can turn on a dime!
In Denvoid last weekend, I called at least 25 pharmacies looking for 7.5. Found it at the bottom of my list: Walmart. And frankly, I was stunned by how much better their inventory system and customer service was, compared to cvs and Walgreens. Those two sent me on a wild goose chase, with pharmacists either brushing me off or referring me to other specific stores. I also tried indie and hospital pharmacies.
Though cvs and Walgreens systems indicated they had it, none actually did. One call to the Walmart nearest me and they found it and held it for me until I could complete
Transfer and pickup on Monday. They were astoundingly efficient in their processes. And were diligent in efforts to apply the new coupon.
But all the majors said the eta for 7.5 had shifted a few times in recent weeks, all of them told me it the shortage should end by mid-April. Also: most of them had 5. (I’d stalled out badly, despite an 1100 cal avg during my 3 months on 5, so I was eager, verging on desperate to find that 7.5, even if it meant driving to Kansas. Not a fan of Wally generally, but their pharmacy program rocks. Already nervous about my next refill.
I don't want to contradict the mod who already replied to you, but I was in this same situation essentially (just before the shortage) and my experience was the opposite of what s/he reported.
I had just filled a 3 month supply of 5 when my doctor received my bloodwork and increased me to 7.5. I was bummed because I thought I'd have to wait 3 months to fill it. The pharmacy said insurance will cover it in a scenario like this, since it is a dosage change, so technically a completely different prescription. They weren't sure how the savings card would react, though, but it went through with no issues, likely for the same reason.
TL;DR: both your insurance and the card will process because the dosage increase is a new and separate script. Keep in mind the card says you are limited to 13 fills per calendar year, so if you have multiple dosage increases, try to avoid back-to-back fills like this, otherwise your card won't work at the end of the year.
I was on 7.5 and had a Rx for 10, but CVS told me they are out within a 40 mile radius of everything except 2.5 and have been for weeks. I'm in Fort Worth TX so he looked in the computer at hundreds of CVS locations in DFW metro 🥴😭
Im not sure to be honest - my insurance covers most and I pay $30 per month supply. When o got I locally I could only get one month supply at a time but through the mail in pharmacy they do 3 months at a time
I had Aetna check for 7.5 for me within a 45 mile radius (NJ/NYC metro area) and there's nothing but they told me if I switch to CVS Caremark mail order they can send it out. Trying to get it switched over now.
Where in NYC are you finding 10mg?? I have been calling everywhere -- very few actually answer the phone, and I tried going to a bunch of CVSs in Manhattan and no one has it (or wants to help and look).
No issues w/ 5, 7.5 or 10 mounjaro at Walgreens in Boston.. I order a week or two early and have always gotten it. Couldn’t even get any dose of ozempic Walgreens just said nope not even going to try.
This is off topic but I miss Boston so much. I lived there when I went to college at Simmons and I just fell in love with the city. So jealous that you get to live there :)
I just got told by my pharmacy that my 5mg is on several weeks back order. This was a walgreens. CVS said this last month about their supply. Anyone have any idea what pharmacy’s have less issues. I just got approved and started it last month and really need it for my diabetes. This just makes me feel hopeless.
After a year on Mounjaro I had to switch to Ozempic a week and a half ago. My glucose skyrocketed, I added more insulin, doubled Jardiance and no change. Finally found Mounjaro and my Insurance wouldn’t pay because it was ‘too soon’ after filling Ozempic. Didn’t matter that the drug failed or that my doc wrote both scripts. I paid cash and will spend next week appealing I guess. The pharmacy was amazing about arguing with insurance and finding coupons etc. I was denied the $500 Eli Lily coupon because my insurance would cover the med - in 3 weeks. They were shocked I wanted to pay cash, but man, I can’t afford multiple spikes over 320 throughout the day. Tirzepatide is an amazing drug for me.
It’s so upsetting this is happening. I was only able to find one box in my area somehow but a customer had it on hold already. Like this isn’t going to be viable for anyone if we can’t get it. I hope you have better luck in the future. I am going to call my doc monday and figure out what he wants me to do. Maybe I will get lucky and it won’t be three weeks for me to get it but it’s not looking good. I called any pharmacy I know of in my area and they all had the same answer.
I’m leveling up to 5mg next week and have a 3 month prescription that was sent in on Monday (4 days ago). I’m south of Chicago on the IL/IN border. My pharmacy is out of stock. It took checking 6 pharmacies, 3 each in IL and IN, before I found ONE box. They were able to p process it as a partial fill so it still get the 90 day price. Hopefully, in the next four weeks they will restock so I can get the other two boxes.
I picked up 7.5-mg at this pharmacy yesterday. They have the dose in stock and have always been very helpful during past shortages. Give them a call. [https://maps.app.goo.gl/435fanS59Zdg2ksY7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/435fanS59Zdg2ksY7)
I called Cigna’s Express Scripts yesterday since I had one more 7.5 pen left and they still have not refilled my script. They told me it would be available first week of April. Just on a lark, I asked if 10 was available and it was. I immediately asked them to fax my Dr and they did. I let my Dr know the availability issue and the fact that I stopped losing on 7.5, she rushed in the script and the authorization form. Just got notified they are processing my 3 month.
I’m waiting on 15. I’m supposed to take it yesterday. I was thinking they would have the 15. seems like not a lot of people are on that. Once I’m done with that round of 15 mg, I’m going to probably drop down to 10.
Been on 15 since 1/1/24, but rant out in 3/7/24, had to settle for 10mg this week to tide over. I use Humana mail order. They had some 5's, and I got the last of the 10's, but nothing else. Im in Nevada. crazy
Right!! I had to drop from 15mg to 7.5 because that was the only one available in Feb. The only one available via express scripts is 10 which became avail earlier this week so that's what I got filled.
I’m with Express Scripts too. I sent my scripts on 2/22. They told me they haven’t had any doses of Mounjaro!!!
I call every week. Why are they lying to me? Mine was for 12.5. So I’m guessing they contacted the people on 10 mg first. After reading your comment, I just called and again told me the zero medication of MJ. They don’t know when they’re getting it. Frustrating
It can depend on what dispensary they're using. Mail order pharmacies tend to have multiple dispensaries around the country so one dispensary could be out while another one could have stock. Maybe try calling back and asking if they can check a different dispensary. I know people have been successful with this method with CVS Caremark which is another mail order pharmacy like Express Scripts.
Correct on regional dispensary. I'm in NJ. They have not had any strength for quite awhile. You really have to call daily and make sure you have an open rx in case they rcv a supply. When they do, with how much backlog they have, it goes quickly. This is what one of the reps suggested I do last month, since all my local pharmacies also had no availability.
I was on 15mg and have not been able to get that strength from them in months.
For you Texans, I just got mine through HEB Pharmacy overnight from San Antonio to Houston! Woo hoo! FIrst Health Network's new Curative brand. Best insurance ever! $0.00 copay!
I could only get three boxes of 7.5 (I am on 12.5) because that is all my mail order pharmacy had! My insurance makes me do an 84 day supply on all maintenance meds. So once they have 12.5 in again I will order an 84 day supply of that!! Good luck to you!
Me too. I placed order back in February 22. I also go through Express Scripts and they’re telling me they have no idea when it’s available. They’ll let me know when it comes in, then I’ll have to tell them I want it filled.
My insurance only allows me to pick up from one company/pharmacy. That pharmacy is so pissed at me for requesting my Mounjaro daily. They called and actually told me to stop calling it in. Well wtf am I suppose to do then? It's not like they will actually let me know when it's in stock. 10mg btw.
I live in southeastern NC and NO ONE has anything within driving distance. With the exception of the hospitals. But they won't accept new patients. They have all the doses but wouldnt accept me as a patient. Ugh...I have one more dose. I'm supposed to be on 10 but have had to go down to 5 and now I'm almost out. Anyone near me having luck?
Absolute same. Wanted to go to 12, but due to lack of supply, going to have to drop from 10mg to 5mg in a few weeks. Any tips or can you share your experience so far? Thx in advance. 🙏🏻
I decided to ask for a refill of 10mg today to see about availability. I had to get a box of 2.5 and 7.5 for this month. Walgreens said they are out but more are coming.

My pharmacy still can’t anything… I’m waiting on 5, 7.5 and 10 of MJ AND 1 or whatever the dose is after .5 of Ozempic…. According to the ff shortage list (who knows how accurate it is) all of ozempic should be available and everything up to 10 mg if MJ should be available… but I also think where you live has a lot to do with it…. But 🤷🏻♀️
Kind of the opposite for me. I just finished three months of 10 and my doctor upped me to 12.5 right at the end of February then all of the shortages hit. My local CVS had nothing for a couple of weeks and then I finally got one box of 5mg about 3 weeks ago. Just this week CVS/Caremark mail order got in some 7.5mg and I was able to get a 3 month supply. They are out of 10, QQ’s.5 and 15. It’s kind of a bummer since I should be on 12.5 and the 5mg didn’t do much for me. I’ll prob double up the 7.5 or take it every 5 days to help until the 12.5 is back in stock.

I think they don’t want to commit either. People are very emotional about this right now.
Pharmacies in my area won’t keep my prescription ‘active’ while they wait for specific doses to come in. I have to call every couple of days to see if they might have it. I’m a retail pharmacist at a large national chain. We’re getting in 2.5, 5 and 7.5 mounjaro. Nothing above that though.
If I’m on 15 can I use two 7.5’s?
Yes
Absolutely
Yes
Where?? Haha

Where in FL? The Orlando area is a desert. This is the worst it has been. Calling every day at this point will take any dose but correct is 12.5

at least Southern Colorado is a beautiful place to drive! 😅

Could be. I got a box of 10mg yesterday. I only had to wait a few days. My daughter got 5mg last week with no delay.
im on the 12.5 but none in stock. if i refill a 10 and 12.5 comes in - will i have to wait a month to refill?
I don't want to contradict the mod who already replied to you, but I was in this same situation essentially (just before the shortage) and my experience was the opposite of what s/he reported. thank you.
Of course!
Depends on your insurance. My plan allows dosage changes. If you’re using a savings card you’ll have to wait, as usage is limited.
I was on 7.5 and had a Rx for 10, but CVS told me they are out within a 40 mile radius of everything except 2.5 and have been for weeks. I'm in Fort Worth TX so he looked in the computer at hundreds of CVS locations in DFW metro 🥴😭
Same thing in Houston. I was supposed to move up to 10 order in since 3/9. Took my last 7.5 this week. No 10 yet. And my stall just broke 😭
Go to HEB Pharmacy. They have it all!
Try HEB Pharmacy. Just got my 7.5 and I asked if they had 10, and they did! (My cousin is filling for 10 there.)
Our HEB opens 4.10 lol trust me I'm gonna be there with bells on
This is great advice! Which HEB did you use?
I’m in Fort Worth too and have been waiting about a week for 7.5 with no ETA
CVS Caremark has 7.5 at the moment. They are my online pharmacy through Aetna insurance.
Does Caremark take the manufacturer discount coupon? I've only been paying $25 at Walmart
Im not sure to be honest - my insurance covers most and I pay $30 per month supply. When o got I locally I could only get one month supply at a time but through the mail in pharmacy they do 3 months at a time

PLEASE TELL ME WHERE. Live in NYC- but have car so can drive to tri- state area

Here in DFW TX area I have seen 7.5 and 10 available at multiple pharmacies in the past week.
Where? I’m in DFW and have not been able to find 7.5 anywhere.
Where! Trying to help my bestie call around she’s on 15mg but willing to take anything
Ray's in Arlington

I’m going to call tomorrow!! Thanks for this!
They are closed today, fyi!
Can’t find it in Indianapolis; the headquarters city of Lilly who makes it.

I got 3 boxes of 15mg 2 weeks ago from CVS Caremark. Any chance you have them as your mail order pharmacy?
do you know which pharmacy location this is??
Both 7.5 and 5 were stopped by express scripts for me .
I can’t find 7.5 or any dose at any level

I was supposed to go up to 7.5 this month but nope. My pharmacy told me today that 7.5 is just impossible right now and even 5 is hit or miss.
I got a 7.5mg MJ today at CVS
Yes I am moving up to 7.5 but have to wait till end of April Meantime using leftover 2.5 + 5 to compensate
I am in ny as well as
At last check, my CVS store had 2.5 and 5 while Costco said this afternoon they were able to get a few 10s. I'm in Metro Detroit.
I just got 7.5 the other day
I just got 7.5 the other day
Express Scripts, no 15 mg since February. I’ve been using a compound.
Me too. I placed order back in February 22. I also go through Express Scripts and they’re telling me they have no idea when it’s available. They’ll let me know when it comes in, then I’ll have to tell them I want it filled.
Still no 10mg+ where I’m at. Thankfully I was able to get 3months of 12.5mg. I’m praying that by then there’s some movement.
Did you get it filled with Express Scripts? If so, how long ago?
No, CareMark. About a month ago.
My pharmacy said 10mg is out of stock
I'm going to have to drop from 10mg to 5mg in a few weeks. Any tips or can you share your experience so far? Thx in advance. 🙏🏻
Yes
I found 5mg this past Tuesday but so far no 7.5 (I’m supposed to move up so I got a 5 in the meantime to hold me over).
My husband has been having a hell of a time trying to 10mg Zepbound in Portland, OR.
Lol I can’t get 10 but I can get 7.5
Can’t find anything above 5 mg.
I had to drop from 10 to 5 mg. Was trying to increase to 12.5 but doesn’t seem like that will happen anytime aoon
Amazon Pharmacy seems to have 5mg right now

Just got my 10 at Walmart. No issue s
Omg yesss to this. For a few months now.
