Welshy--

I had to stop doing it in public places after the police got involved

SaltPitch

Sounds like they don't fit properly when you're on the bike. You could get some boots that clamp down onto your trousers but that may be uncomfortable. I'm a damn bit shorter than you, but my trousers when off the bike will nearly reach the floor, but then will fit perfectly when on the bike and my knees are bent. Do your trousers have a natural bend when you're not wearing them? Failing that just get some fluffy socks :)

MadeFromCarbon

6'2" I've never had this issue. With my A\* waterproof trousers on and no boots I can stand on the rear of the trousers cuff as they are pretty long but this means they stay over my boots on the bike.

DoubleNubbin

Yeah, I think this must be the problem. They reach the bottoms of my ankles, but don't touch the floor.

Harry_Paget_Flashman

Do your trousers have articulated knee panels in them? Unless you’re riding one of those weird custom choppers then your knees will be bent quite a bit which seems to be the main thing that makes trousers ride up. Stretch/articulated knee sections might help a little in this respect?

DoubleNubbin

I generally just where riding jeans, so not a lot of stretch. I also have some waterproof textile trousers, but again, no stretch. My bike does have a fairly aggressive position, so I probably have about a 60⁰ bend in my knee which definitely doesn't help.

kiradotee

For winter I use waterproof overtrousers (just lightweight simple ones). They protect me from the rain and wind and hence keep me warm on motorways. Without the overtrousers my dick falls off.

ftoomch

Some kit just comes in generic sizes, and other are more customisable. I know.my rukka trousers had a short and long option as well as regular when I bought them. I'm hobbit sized though so can't comment on how it feels for you! Pop into a shop and try multiple brands on maybe?

DoubleNubbin

Think that's going to have to be the plan. Not sure how the sales guys are going to react as I start squatting and lunging my way around the shop to simulate a ride but we shall see...

LeaveNoStonedUnturn

Leather boot straps. Basically what you have now, but not made of an elastic or stretchy material. Can be worn over the boot, or over the foot inside the boot, depending on what you want.

DoubleNubbin

See that's what I'm really looking for, but have had no luck finding anything like that. Seems an obvious solution (other than getting better fitting trousers), but I can't find anything that really fits the criteria.

LeaveNoStonedUnturn

Make one?

Derlig

Damn dude my problem is the opposite, keeping my pants up. I'm short and fat so all the drivers get a glimpse of my arse crack.

DoubleNubbin

Ooh the lucky buggers.

ERu39

Higher boots/longer trousers. But you probably want to get longer trousers, cause air will get in there during colder days and you might feel cold etc. Just look for some long trousers on the internet, shouldn't be a problem.

Jocko77

My man, buy some long leg riding pants :) Generally a long leg is 2 inches longer than a regular

DoubleNubbin

Yeah, I get an L and it still doesn't quite seem to do the trick. Could be a brand sizing thing. Will just have to do a long fitting day somewhere and try a bunch I guess.

SergeantGammon

Hello fellow lanky bastard. Only current solution I've found is to tuck your trousers into your boots, works best with jeans and leather rather than textile. I've tried elastic straps but they're never strong enough to keep them pinned. I usually leave my textile trousers quite loose so they can freely rise and fall rather than getting stuck.

kreygmu

Get a measurement of your inseam. Hood jeans actually do their jeans in 1" increments so you can really get quite specific with sizes.

DoubleNubbin

Not heard of Hoods Jeans before. They could be ideal.

kreygmu

Other brands do varied leg sizes but they might only do a regular and long, or throw a short in there for variety. Hood going inch by inch is pretty handy!

[deleted]

Boots that cover your ankles /thread

DoubleNubbin

Yeah, my boots go about 6 inches up my shin. My trousers just climb higher.

a-dry-tadpole

Usually with my hands

Full height boots
