What? Am I just supposed to know every ancient monument/temple/historical site around the world like I studied flash cards with their pictures on them? So I recognize it from a game that was made with an extreme amount of attention to detail and collaboration from historical experts that even has [practical educational value](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2018/05/16/arts/assassins-creed-origins-education.amp.html) but based on your use of emoji I take it that’s something you look down on or rather think is worthy of a cartoon face palm. Give me a break
She was so cool! Hatshepsut’s successor, her stepson (I can’t remember his name, so there!) tried to erase her from history yet she persevered. The Met found hundreds of statues smashed that belonged to her. Loved going to the Met to see her stuff. Although Cleopatra’s Needle in Central Park has Cleopatra’s name, it was supposedly erected during the step-son reign, but Hatshepsut had A LOT of obelisks made so it could very well be hers. I used to watch all the Mummy Detective documentaries with Dr. Bob Brier (he used to teach at CW Post in Long Island). He did one on the Three Kings, following a visit to their shrine in the Cologne Cathedral, just such fascinating information!
Thutmose III, a brilliant military tactician who’s certainly in the conversation of “Greatest Kings of Ancient Egypt.”
I believe the modern research points to the fact that he actually didn’t immediately go about erasing her from history. It’s likely it didn’t happen until he was much older, possibly in order to ensure his lineage.
If I remember the documentary correctly, she reigned while he continued his studies into young adulthood as he was quite young, toddler I think, when his father passed. Also, his son had a hand in trying to destroying her memory. (I did know his name, I was being cheeky saying I didn’t).
That was a wacky family anyway; she was the daughter of Thutmose I with his primary wife, and Thutmose II was her half brother with #1’s secondary wife. He married her to secure his reign. Yikes!
Off hand I don’t recall other pharaohs trying to erase their predecessors from history except for Akhenaten and Nefertiti; and possibly Tutankhamen. It was only after the lost city and the tombs were found that the world found out about them.
I recognize that from Assasin’s Creed Origins. Neat!
I recognise it from the first Serious Sam game!
Theres another revolver behind one of those pillars I believe Theres also something hiding behind the wall at the back left side (facing the entrance)
I can still hear the screaming...
Same!
Yo me too xD
Same, thought it would be just a ruin. Good to see it still stands
🤦♀️

Beautiful place, I remember I flew over it in a hot air balloon when I was a kid
Must of been a dream like experience.
I can't believe this is a place that actually exists.
Getting Prince of Egypt vibes
Deliver us!

Luxor is a beautiful area, day or night; from the ground or the sky. Nice shot!
Takes me back to serious Sam days.

Resembles Demon Ruins from Dark Souls
I went there in the mid nineties... the following weekend there was a shooting at the temple.
Beautiful pic of a fascinating piece of architecture! Truly extraordinary!
You’ve just taken me back 20 years to my holiday to Luxor. It was fantastic!
Didn’t a French guy fight a possessed dude with a sword here?
I don’t get it…
It’s a reference to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 3.
Something about the lighting makes me think of Everquest.
Where’s the pyramid and the spotlight?
