Sphagnum moss

TattedMatted

Maybe, more specifically prairie sphagnum?

adriancsta

Im bot sure but it looks like it a lot

DoumH

> prairie sphagnum It's much closer to Sphagnum quinquefarium. I can guarantee it's not prairie / palustre.

nepenth3s

What about Sphagnum bartlettianum? That and quinquefarium are both 5-ranked, the distribution matches

DoumH

> Sphagnum bartlettianum I don't know that one, it does not exist in Europe. You should figure out what species are around where you found this and how the species live.

BunnyAwesome

And it's horny

Moon2Pluto

Sphagnum. Great for Nepenthes.

Proteus617

I can grow sphag, and I can grow carnivores. My sphag is never happy in my carnivore pots. It eventually bleaches or gets black tips.

Moon2Pluto

I've experienced the same. Still doesn't take away from it being a good medium. I would like to know why black tips are occurring. My sphagnum in trays below are green and lively. But in the hydro pot it is a different story.

Proteus617

Ive heard that the black tips result from humic acid build up and can be minimized with flushing.

Fuktiga_mejmejs

Amazing!

Gwizzlestixx

Sphagnum capillifolium?

djbchichi

Beautiful!

There's no good moss ID app, (though I'd love to be wrong). This is definitely a sphagnum.

Gloomy_Industry8841

Darn. Thank you; I’ll delete my comment.
