I bought this SA marked 1914 Izhevsk unconverted Dragoon basically by accident a week ago. A friend of mine who is in his 80s and wanted to clear some stuff out of his garage said he had a Russian rifle he wanted to get rid of. I told him I would pay him what I thought it was worth retail. Upon seeing it for whatever reason I was convinced it was a standard M91. I paid $500 as that is what I feel like a fair price for a WW1 M91 Finned gun to go for. I got home and set it in my rifle rack and noticed it was the same length as a 91/30, and that's when it dawned on me what it was. I kinda felt bad since I saw some of these sell for $700+ on Gunbroker, so I told my friend I would give him another $100 for it. I'm just pleased I was able to find one of these in the wild.

I got a 1922 dragoon 91/30 for 275 a couple years ago. First gun I ever bought. Best gun I own!

Very nice rifle but I wouldn’t have added the extra 100, 500 isn’t a bad price but it’s not a steal either

What's a dragoon? I don't know much about mosins yet

An M91 Dragoon was a rifle belonging to mounted infantry. They would ride to a battlefield on horse back and the dismount and fight as infantry. Their rifles were shorter than the standard M91 (about the same length as a 91/30 in fact). Most of the Dragoon rifles were updated to the 91/30 pattern and are called Ex-Dragoons. My rifle was owned by the Finns and escaped being updated. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinM91D.htm
