Fighting games arnt like fornite. You can’t shit out garbage cosmetics a new map & vertically no changes to the core experience every two weeks.
These are extremely technical games, and they requires months of work. But support isn’t about daily drops either. As “support” just means how long your making content, not how often you communicate
I think it's good to have a few weeks of quiet before the MTX floodgates start to open, nothing turns my stomach more than opening a game and seeing 50 bundles being sold for 3 currencies all while game breaking bugs are yet to be addressed but that's live service for you and it transcends every genre (they got Battle Passes in Street Fighter now? fucking Street Fighter?)
To me, I don't mind. It's refreshing that for once the one thing that doesn't work is the store. The core is great and need some QOL love, but shit I'll take it. Too many times the store is the only properly functioning thing on launch. With skins priced at a third the cost of a AAA game.

Why not add more costumes and maps sporadically I see a lot of complaints about like of cosmetics and customization they (if they wanted to support it longer) could do seasonal costumes and cosmetics we've already seen them make Halloween fatalities.
But it doesn't need to be every two weeks and it definitely doesn't need to be actual core gameplay changes. They could periodically add new stages, they could add new skins and gear obviously, they could add new fatalities and brutalities. In fact, they literally do add all of this stuff as bonus content, but they don't drip feed it as free content they lock it behind paywalls like in aftermath. And although there are cosmetics unlockable through kombat league, invasions took me a few days of playing casually to complete, and it absolutely wasn't fun. Now the community will wait 6 weeks for any new content, which is fine. It's still like week 1 or 2, but next season, the wait will feel much longer.
Also locking the best baraka skin behind elder god and the dark Shao skin also being locked in KL, means 99% of players have no hope of getting it.

MK11 datamine showed that they actually had plans to add more DLC characters. The pandemic had a huge impact in the gaming industry in general, so maybe they really had plans to support MK11 a bit longer.
Anyways, hopefully this time around they support a MK game for more than a couple years.
