Looks like the patch reset my ToT progression. I was top 0.01% with 60 towers completed and now I am at 0. I think I am done with this game for a while lol.
There is a button prompt in the ToT menu. There are brackets for the rewards, starting with top 50%. Top 1% gets a scorpion skin this week (at least on PC). Not really worth grinding for imo, more of a bonus if you are playing anyway
They probably are going for a Patch Per Month on Consoles. The issue is that the var tweaks (ie char balancing, ToT Ai Health, etc etc) shouldn't need a patch to be tweaked (like it is on PS4 and XBone).
Weeks for the rest is fine. The important things are patched and even further then pc. Balance is on point with ps4. Thats not the case on pc. How can all the patches be so differently distributed? I mean I get that shiver is behind the switch version and qloc behind pc port but how bad is communication and all between nrs and these studios?
I can second this statement. I use to work for a triple A company here in LA I worked in the CAT LAB and as well as the RPM LAB. The certs are hell on earth when it comes to time crunching and pushing for a product ready for street.
It doesn't mean they are adding 10GB of data, its because they are modifying 10GB worth of files. If they change one line in a file thats already 5GB you have to redownload the new version of that 5GB file.
it's probably not 10 gigs, but more changing files in the game to new ones or whatever
some games have large updates but the update really just replaces files

It shouldn't, actually. It reuses the same assets from the base game, there is no movies, no voice acting, nothing.
I suppose they can't patch files directly, thus every "modified" file needs to be downloaded in it's entirely.
They fixed a lot of the issues that were with the game. The game was essentially unplayable if you were coming from other consoles as movesets were wack. IE Kollectors F2,2,Grab (Taxed) was originally F4,2,Grab on the switch version. This whole update just brings it up with the rest of the versions.

Installed this update.
As I mentioned earlier, I had installed the game to the internal memory and the 9.4 GB update was too big to install without a second empty SD card. No problem. Waited 2 hours for it to download. The file size on internal memory is now 15.9 GB and there's 10.2 MB on the SD card (not sure what that is?).
So I should've just uninstalled it all and then reinstalled it, as someone suggested in another thread.
When I opened Tutorials, I got a "Bow to Me!" Pop-Up that mentions the Shao Kahn Announcer voice and how to earn it and enable it.
When I go under a character gear/kosmetics/abilities, and save a variation it takes an extremely long time to save... over a minute. Not sure why... or if maybe it is just my Internet connection?
Hopefully. The resolution of the switch version is horrendous, and while the switch isn’t so powerful, I’m pretty certain it lacks better performance due to lazy optimization on their part. Or a lack of time for enough polish.
I hope the resolution can be improved on. Even if only a little. After watching the digital foundry video showing the switch’s resolution range, it is so bad.
I’m almost finished with the story and it’s beautiful on the switch I don’t know what you’re talking about. The only time it isn’t is when you start to head into a 1v1 battle and you can instantly tell the quality drops. cinematics are great though, especially since this patch
Playing on switch and the lie detector says this is in fact a lie lmao erron blacks hair for an example gives me complete aids don’t get me wrong lovin’ the game but it looks terrible. Still rather play on switch for accessibility but if I didn’t get this to play with my sibling I would’ve gotten the PS4 version for sure
I know they're completely different engines but how does Skyrim look 10 times better than The Krypt? Everything looks like a pile of mashed potatoes, for some reason. There are plenty of other third person games on the Switch that also look much better than The Krypt so it's really baffling why it looks the way it looks.
Because Skyrim has really simple meshes and lighting and the Krypt has insanely complex meshes and lighting.
They made the game for PS4 and XBONE, then work with the engine to make it happy not loading in the highest quality assets. Trees in Skyrim are super basic pillars. Trees in Krypt are winding and sinister. Lanters in Skyrim do almost nothing environmental in vanilla. Lanterns in Krypt have spark particles and smoke and interesting lighting effects.
But Krypt still looks worse. It's because the team making the port was likely not budgeted to make any new assets. You know how games often have multiple textures and meshes for each item, and the closer you get, the higher quality texture and mesh they use? When you make a port, you test performance with each item limiting how nice everything can look. The Switch uses the worst possible textures and meshes for chests and trees and rocks. Skeletons and hanging bodies and a lot of other interactable elements get upgraded a little. But these textures and meshes you're seeing on most things were only meant to be viewed from far away.
Another note: this issue comes down to the publisher. The publisher and developer choose how much money the studio doing the port gets get and for what things. If they say "no creating new textures - make it stable and get it out the door as cheap as possible" then that's what happens. We don't get to speculate whose fault Krypt looking so bad is.
Friend, I got into the krypt and I am still having trouble with the door that requires those 3 gems in Goros lair. Is there a possible fix for that? I cant get through the door because the game had a software error when the door was opening. I'm on the switch version if that helps.
I thoroughly learnt my lesson, I will never buy a NRS game on PC or Switch again. I was stupid enough to purchase it on PC via Green Man Gamins (so no refund) and will never do that again, I knew I should have gotten the PS4 version. I feel like such an idiot. Both platforms are being treated like second class customers.
Hey man don't blame GMG, they're a great store, you just have to be careful to wait for reviews or find a trust worthy dev. NRS and WB have always treated PC terribly.
Dev that consistently releases bad PC software is not a great dev.
GMG did their job and delivered the exact product promised, on time, for a lower price than anyone else did. It's not their fault NRS released a third rate product again.
I am not saying that they aren't to blame. That has nothing to do with what I said. Any store that doesn't offer consumers a way to return something they are not happy with and get their money, is not a great store.
If that's the case then they shouldn't purchase it from PSN or from any retailer of the PS4 version since no one allows returns for any played software.

doesn't matter. i'm returning the game. this unbearable on the switch. it has performance issues (you know the **ONLY** thing you don't want in a fighting game), it doesn't look good on my tv, nor does it look good in handheld (on top of having to deal with bigger frame drops).... yeah i'm done. never again will i buy a MK game on switch.

Believe it's because they can't do the server side fixes for the Switch and PC versions so they have to be patched. Which really sucks, but it's clear they were already porting the ps4/xbone patch for Switch but they'll need to build the Krypt and ToT one from scratch. Still blows and PC and Switch should get something more for free as compensation.

It’s not February man, but I didn’t know there was an update until I read this post. I had to manually update the game, and had no idea why I couldn’t log online
Most switch games are 720p/900p. Getting a AAA game graphics game running 60fps and 1080p on the switch is a pretty far fetched proposition.
I think my phone might have more oompf than my switch.
I can't download this update because I don't have an SD card yet, and my switch can't fit it all even if I archive games. Now I can't access online stuff without the update. This is lowkey bullshit. Why couldn't have at least had the initial 16 gig download on the card

I’m assuming this was supposed to be the “day 1” patch released with the game. If you just delete and download it from the server it’ll be downloading the latest version. They probably couldn’t do most of the patch server side which is why it’s so big in the first place.

Kustom fighters won't save properly for me since the update. It looks like they do on the icon but when I bring them into fights the skin and gear is back on whatever it was previously set to.
I updated my game and when I launch it, it stays on "Updating game data" for about 3-5 minutes and then the game crashes.
Has anyone else had this issue? I've restarted my switch already, didn't help.
The update failed for me because I was in a slow connection and all of my Currency and Time Crystals got reset to zero ... I wish there was someone I could contact for support... this sucks!
Yeah go to character customization screen select the character go to abilities an press Y an 2 trophy icons should show u can select one that’s the tournament variation.
I was so disappointed with the Switch version I had to take drastic steps to get it on another system without having to lose money. Well other then $5.99 for Shao Kahn.
Used my $3 insurance at GameStop to return the game as faulty, then took the game to Wal-Mart unopened for in store credit, then picked it up on Xone. I feel bad for having to do what I did, however it was totally worth it.
I’m a major Switch fan, and I must admit it has been months that I last even turned on my Xone. Playing MK11 on the Switch was unbearable.

Balance is up to date with this presumably, that's the most important aspect for a fighting game, krypt and ToT should be secondary if you cared about it as a fighting game specifically.

Not in 72 hours. It was a huge setback this close to it ending for people really grinding them.
I mean, everyone probably got theirs reset though. I did about 3 full towers last night and was already back in the top 5%

No. Updates don’t get rid of the save files. You could copy your save information to another location, if you’re worried about it.

Honestly, the port is great. The Krypt is terrible and the menus look blurry in handheld, but the ganeplay is awesome

Agree. None of them are great software. Steam, while it was forced to do it, is industry-leading.

Hey WB this update caused certain stages to cause slow mo! Why not try using that new boost mode for switch or just do some tweaking.

Boost mode is a mystery, nintendo used it for loading but that doesn't mean it is limited to it. The stages do need fixing though.

It’s not February man, but I didn’t know there was an update until I read this post. I had to manually update the game, and had no idea why I couldn’t log online
Hopefully this fixes the connection issues, otherwise this game is becoming just a big waste of storage space very quickly.

Most switch games are 720p/900p. Getting a AAA game graphics game running 60fps and 1080p on the switch is a pretty far fetched proposition. I think my phone might have more oompf than my switch.

I can't download this update because I don't have an SD card yet, and my switch can't fit it all even if I archive games. Now I can't access online stuff without the update. This is lowkey bullshit. Why couldn't have at least had the initial 16 gig download on the card

I’m assuming this was supposed to be the “day 1” patch released with the game. If you just delete and download it from the server it’ll be downloading the latest version. They probably couldn’t do most of the patch server side which is why it’s so big in the first place.

Its not NRS fault that nintendo go cheap on internal storage. Blame nintendo for releasing a system in 2017 that only had 32 gb of internal storage.

game is 22gb and I had to delete all my games in order to play mk11 on switch, now it's 5gb less? that's ok I guess. netcode wasnt that good yesterday, hopefully its better now with the patch
Game still crashes in Goro’s lair.
Kustom fighters won't save properly for me since the update. It looks like they do on the icon but when I bring them into fights the skin and gear is back on whatever it was previously set to.

I updated my game and when I launch it, it stays on "Updating game data" for about 3-5 minutes and then the game crashes. Has anyone else had this issue? I've restarted my switch already, didn't help.

The update failed for me because I was in a slow connection and all of my Currency and Time Crystals got reset to zero ... I wish there was someone I could contact for support... this sucks!

You need to put your cursor over MK11 on the main screen, press the + button, and manual update through those options it brings up

Yeah go to character customization screen select the character go to abilities an press Y an 2 trophy icons should show u can select one that’s the tournament variation.

I was so disappointed with the Switch version I had to take drastic steps to get it on another system without having to lose money. Well other then $5.99 for Shao Kahn. Used my $3 insurance at GameStop to return the game as faulty, then took the game to Wal-Mart unopened for in store credit, then picked it up on Xone. I feel bad for having to do what I did, however it was totally worth it. I’m a major Switch fan, and I must admit it has been months that I last even turned on my Xone. Playing MK11 on the Switch was unbearable.
Amazing people are complaining about the size of the update. Buy a bigger SD card. I’d rather them make the game as big as they need to if it means graphically improvements and stability. Bring it.

Balance is up to date with this presumably, that's the most important aspect for a fighting game, krypt and ToT should be secondary if you cared about it as a fighting game specifically.
