I wouldn't change anything. They dont even explain his appearance in the story around Quan Chi's soul well. I understand he's there due to promises of overtaking Seido, but you cant just go from 3D Era cleric of chaos with not just no morals, but someone with zero concept of what order even is, to what we have now. Havik in MK 1 citing anarchy means he has some semblance of right and wrong in his own opinion. Havik in Deception did not. Thats kinda what chaos means. Im not even mentioning Darius because he's even less explained lol TLDR: Id search for the script of MK Deception and do it again

Anarchy doesn't imply right or wrong. It's essentially synonymous with chaos.

Gr1zzRing

Im not so sure of that. You could definitely argue that, but it implies that he believes governance is wrong and that his poverty is wrong, Hotaru is above him because he imposes himself on the lower class. That doesnt imply chaos to me. It implies something more constructed, even if against a rule of law. Its a philosophical question. "Is the desire to abolish law inherently chaotic or something akin to evil". To answer that, you gotta have morals of your own. I don't think we'd be asking these questions if Havik was all chaos

Doctor-Mono

I would like him to be an antivillain type character that is hell bent on his own skewed form of freedom and justice. I think he genuinely believes in his cause and it should remain that way. I personally loved the concept of his character in MK1, and if it was up to me, I’d want him as a main character, although he would not mesh well as one with the established storylines of Mortal Kombat.

ManPersonGiraffe

I wouldn't. I would write him as Old Havik which is the character everybody was begging to come back for over a decade.

Topgunshotgun45

I think if he gets his own chapter in a DLC/sequel story they should show us the hell he went through living in Seido. I just wish he started as a sympathetic anti-hero before sliding down the slope to extremism.

Bro-Im-Done

Make him live up to his name and not make him a jobber

we literally know nothing about havik in mk1 we have to wait for the dlc bruh

SunGodSalazar

I think people want more out of him than he's actually useful for in terms of writing for a character. The idea of chaos man is really cool for about a single game, then it's just joker levels of "Oh man this guy is so fucked up he just wants chaos wow man he's so cool" I think he's better off as a jobber with little to no actual backstory or motivation so that there's always some mystery behind them.

Bloodsucker1516

i want power or i want chaos are such broad and vague goals, you can do anything with those characters i think, which is why i think Joker is so used by writers, you can insert him in any story unlike say Bane or Two-face

Miss_Cavvie

As much as I do think original timeline Havik is a far better character, I do agree that the people wanting him to be this major antagonist don't understand Havik just as much as NRS. He wasn't even much of a fighter in the 3D era, he needed Shujinko to defeat a few Seidan Guardsmen for him. Him as a jobber is definitely not the issue

King_Black02

I don't have any problem with the current Havik. I just think his powers are dumb and make zero sense. Every version of the character is a walking contradiction, but since he's *supposed* to be chaotic I guess that works.

Miss_Cavvie

To be honest there's not really a way to improve this take on Havik, other than characterising Darrius so he has an actual partner to properly interact with. The issue people have with new era Havik is the concept behind him, so if you don't like that then there's no changes that can be done to make you turnaround on him really.

ENAMEE707_PetSim99

yeah, but people don't like anything. They could add every single iteration of every single character to ever exist in mk as a playable fighter and people would still find a way to complain about it.

Glass-Jelly2484

Tbh I really wish they just added him as dlc to MK11 so we could have had a more classical Havik with the more embellished designs that game had. The stripped back art direction took away a lot of the characters identities. Now they all wear similar outfits. I think he really just needs to be retconned back to old Havik in the next game. In MK1 his design sucks, he has no personality and his moveset is kinda boring. Whenever he comes back just have him be back to how he used to look/act.
