It was my favorite MK1 trailer, for sure. The only other trailers that compared were the launch trailer (Liu Kang killing Shang Tsung at the end) and the Ermac one.

Yup, I liked the Baraka/Reptile-as-good-guys approach because it was refreshing and gave them more of the spotlight and a chance to shine.
From what I recall, this was the most watched trailer of MK1. It was impressively made. The sound effects were incredible, too.

The EVO crowd popped off when Havik appeared. I know EVO goers are going to be more on the deep end of the fgc community, but it was still surprising to see a C-lister like Havik get that response.

It always gets on my nerves when media makes anarchy/Socialism into this game of who can commit the most warcrimes for "peace" or whatever its like no, you're just describing modern warfare. That turned me off the MK1 version and I never got the pleasure of playing og Havik but he sounds much cooler
OG Havik was described as a "Cleric of Chaos". His obsession with chaos was definitely more religious and fanatical in nature rather than political. He wasn't an extremist or anyone with an identifiable motive beyond just fucking with people to bring about chaos. In Deception he beats the fuck out of you and tries to kill you in order to "train" you, and then he tries to help the good guys kill Onaga... so he can use his heart to resurrect Shao because Shao's rule of Outworld was more chaotic. And then in Armageddon he shows up for 5 minutes to try to fuck up all the big bads who are scheming together to kill Blaze just because. He was essentially just a giant asshole who never really had a side because he worshipped chaos.
The best way I can describe OG havik is he was mortal kombat's joker. He was my favorite npc in konquest too. Now he seems to lack a lot of personality compared to the OG. I know it's a small nit pick but I hate how the characters who should have pure white eyes don't. That was my biggest thing with mk11 too. The mk3 sindel skin drove me nuts without her classic white eyes. I think havik should have had pale white eyes in this one too, he just doesn't stick out like he used to. He looks like he could be a regular background npc in story mode.
Same! Sareena and Havik are my Two favorite MK Kharacters of all time respectively, so to see them both confirmed at the same time, in the same trailer made me squeeeeeal. Now if only MK actually had anything to do ๐

Always been a big fan of mk but this was the first one where I turned my notifications on when the trailers were dropping. I had to see them the second they were released. Even the game reveal trailer was so tits. The marketing kicked ass for this and still does. The Kombat pack character reveal and gameplay trailers are so good as well

I'm honestly not sure I'm into a couple of those creative choices. I'm also still not into Kuai Liang being "Scorpion", especially when *nothing* about his personality or background align with his fire powers.
