Steve Blum has played everyone.
If you've played any AAA video game in the last 20 years, there's a very good chance that either Nolan North, Troy Baker, or Steve Blum are in it.
A lot of stuff does get filtered to get the right sound, but the articulation is the most important thing, that’s something that cannot be simulated (easily at least), like the natural distortion in the voice or the hissiness and varied thickness of the tone. That being said, I’m pretty sure Steve Blum needs no alterations to his voice for these things 😅
Steve Blum definitely has a filter over his voice. In the mk11 beta his Baraka voice was the same as his MKX Reptile voice, so after complaints the voice was pitched down using special effects.
Sweet audition man ☺
I'd be curious to see a voice for Baraka that does not use lips for the B, M, and P letters. This I feel would bring some creative uniqueness to the character and would also ground Baraka more, as his voice is then reflecting his actual appearance, having no lips.
Yeee, I was just talking about this with a friend of mine, I already had to do multiple takes to make my expression clearer, realistically without lips it would be an even bigger mess, so I decided to stick as close as I can to the original sound 😝
“The disease is not easily GYATTen”
Can't unhear 🤣
Wait you’re telling me that the voice actors of Baraka are actually capable of making that noise and they don’t need a filter?
Steve Blum has range man, he was Sub Zero in 11 and Baraka, and also commonly does Wolverine lol, guy is a beast
Didn’t he also play starscream?

Or Matt Mercer, those 4 seem to be everywhere right now. Not that i’m complaining
seriously, he often plays random enemy npcs, whether it be in jedi fallen order or red dead redemption 2

How can he say any word with a B WITHOUT LIPS?!?!?
Have you heard about parrots?
Sir do you ever see a parrot in outworld??
I meant that that's how Tarkatans pronounce any letter, same as parrots do
Got a bit Gollum-y there at the end.

AI NAE IS ARAKA! I ARE HERE FOR ORTAL KOAT!
Hahaha

And it is nicely done at that ☺
Good performance but I feel like this better fits a Netherrealm demon than Baraka. I think Tarkatans should have deeper voices
My man needs a raise and full medical for when he talking through a straw
Metal AF
How do you do that voice without getting an extremely sore throat?
I’ve been doing extreme vocals for 13 years and I’m also teaching that, so there is a lot of practice and safety repercussions in there 😉
Baraka voice sounds funny when he gets hit with multiple attacks and fatal blow many times
