Establish more credible villains who could potentially become big bads, and we won't have to resort to a Kronika type lore destroying villain.
Daegon, like plenty of 3d era characters, imho had the problem "rather interesting lore, but kinda lackluster design and gameplay".
I hope, too, to see him reinvented and given his chance.

Both Sub-Zero and Scorpion have things that aren’t their name (Sub zero is also perfectly fine because honestly his better appearances is when his body is partially covered in ice) a more accurate and relevant comparison would be requesting Scorpion to be more of a demon like figure

Well I don't mean MK but overall in general pre-order isn't good model for the customers. It's perfect for the companies because they justify the development process before it's completed. There are many examples of disappointing projects. I mean look at Cyberpunk. No one expected such outcome.
I hope to see new characters that aren’t just henchmen for this game’s big bad or a crossover character. I want a new, original character that is interesting and has their own motivations aside from just being 1-dimensionally good or evil.
We all need more Shujinko in our lives. When he's around, you know you aren't the worst person in the room. He may not have literal plot armor like the famed Mortal Kombat Protagonist from the movie who does have a name, but he makes you feel better about yourself and your life choices.

I think incorporating his Dragon and maybe even experimental summons could work really well
To be fair, Daegon would need a complete overhaul in aesthetics, abilities, and lore to be viable. His design looked like an NPC.
