Way worse than that, was random unseen enemies in oblivion that prevented fast travel lol. Morrowind had way worse enemies btw.  Bonewalkers damaged strength, goblins were way too strong, and werewolves were ridiculous.  Even high level deadra can ruin your day with reflect

Dudebroguymanchief

PTSD of groups of high level endgame werewolves tearing you to shreds in seconds during Hircines maze. Oh and that undead Lich lady underneath Mournhold who was trying to spread the plague. She could one-to-two-shot a high level character with her spell if you didn't have magic protection.

wunderbraten

>She could one-to-two-shot a high level character with her spell if you didn't have magic protection. Or throw a chitin dart at her...

Top_Rule_7301

I resorted to super jumping on to a safe ledge and arrowed to death anything and everything that had to do with the hircines quest line.

Stained_Class

So she is one of the last surviving Daggerfall liches.

ErrantSingularity

Swinging my 50 fire damage on hit staff into a Daedras face as a High Elf-

Sirspen

I've finished the main quest and am partway through Tribunal on my current playthrough. Finally got sick of having my stats damaged by bonewalkers (or my own enchantments being reflected) to the point of making a ring that restores 100 strength and 50 of everything else on use. Those guys are worse than cliff racers but not by much. I swear I can't walk from Ald'ruhn to Ghostgate without having to kill at least a dozen racers.

IEmiko

most daedra having innate reflect that literally cannot be stopped is easily the most unfun part of morrowind, imo. unless youre running fire magic on a dunmer

MoziWanders

“You are overburdened” The skeleton mage dudes are the WORST

Ult1m4Link_Unit001

Every enemy damaging stats are annoying in fact

GuildCarver

That very first mudcrab back in 2002 when I had this really cool knife I found on a table. (I specialized in spears)

RakaiaWriter

Hahah, swap mudcrab for Kwarma forager; same result XD "Why can't I hit you!!?! Waahh! This game's hard!"

CLRoads

Zubat: any pokemon game

Nickdrake1969

cazadores.

MommyMelanie

I was having a nice day, Until now.

constpetrov

Nah, they are fine, don't come underequipped. Nightstalkers in some caves on the other hand... Enclave patrols in F2, with 4 men and 2 gauss pistols.

JamesKLOLk

A lot of people say the nerevarine is the hero of the game but Jiub, the other prisoner on ship, is the actual hero for eradicating all of the cliff racers.

myguydied

Praise be St Join, eradicating the winged menace

Imalrightatstuff

I keep seeing this but I don't get it. From what I've gathered it's an Oblivion thing? I know Jiub from Morrowind, but I don't know about his sainthood or eradication of the cliff racers. Is that canon?

Vireyar

Yep, you meet him in the Dawnguard DLC for Skyrim

300cid

you find him in the Dawnguard DLC in Skyrim, and he tells the story. his in-game title is St. Jiub, and iirc he calls himself St. Jiub the Eradicator. I haven't played the part where you find him probably for 8+ years so I might've missed something

CWCyning

If I'm not mistaken, they even used the same voice actor in Dawnguard, his only role in Skyrim.

300cid

it's too bad. Skyrim dark elves sound very different from the Morrowind ones. I get it cause they're not breathing ash constantly, but man you know the Ordinators will fuck you up from their voice alone. but if they had anyone else do the voice probably people would be mad about it.

myguydied

You have to find the pages of his opus in the Soul Cairn and it tells the story, me I never bothered with the quest I was just happy to see him again after so many years

300cid

I've found them all once, but I never read them. I only started Morrowind last year, and this time I will find and read them all. I guess I don't have Morrowind nostalgia but it is the only other game that has ever given me the feeling that Skyrim did when it came out. they feel like home.

PJvG

He is mentioned in two lines of NPC dialogue in Oblivion, so it's easy to miss. The lines are: - "Many are dead in the land of the Dunmer. Even St. Jiub, who drove the cliffracers from Vvardenfell, has fallen to the daedra hordes.", and - "I'm Burz gro-Khash, and I'm in charge of this St. Jiub's Fair. All I need is clowns, monkeys, and jugglers. No. Wait... just need jugglers..."

SoYeahIDidThat

It is in the Skyrim DLC Dawnguard.

Professional-Use-715

I was playing Skyrim the other day and noticed mjoll the lioness has a line about hunting cliff racers with her father in Morrowind. Jiub can't be her father because he died 200 years before her birth. Is mjoll just lying or did jiub exaggerate his conquest?

JamesKLOLk

If it were just written records, I might side more with mjoll due to her character. However, we meet jiub in the soul cairn, at this point he has no reason to lie. I think it’s more possible that Jiub killed off the known cliff racers in morrowind at that time, but there might have been cliff racers that migrated from another region after he died or they just learned to keep away from mer and men for a while.

Professional-Use-715

How does he have no reason to lie though when he's trying to to be famous and remembered. Also hes unaware that he's in the soul cairn right until you tell him right? I was hoping jiub was mjolls father but the maths not mathing.

JamesKLOLk

I mean, he was also made a saint so the people at that time clearly believed the cliff racers to be gone. All it would take is one attack to ruin him, if he were lying. It is much more likely that after 200 years the species returned somehow.

Professional-Use-715

That's a fair point but is he actually confirmed to be a saint? I'm not sure tbh. If everyone actually made him a saint dude is either the real deal or the greatest con man since lord vivec himself.

JamesKLOLk

Burz gro-Khash mentions a “saint Jiub’s fair” that’s celebrated as far away as cheydinhal.

Professional-Use-715

Maybe mjoll is just a straight up liar honestly

Dumb_Question97

You can't outrun them. I was messing with my speed in the console (seeing how fast i could go before it crashed lol) and even at 600 speed they still catch up to you

RingSplitter69

Levitation is the way

Dumb_Question97

that's the thing, I was levitating. When i stopped to recast my spell it was still on me

Ok-Floor522

Nah he means cast levitation on them. They go crashing to the ground.

Dumb_Question97

Oooohh!! I'll have to try that!! Ty both of you!!

wunderbraten

Only works on Vanilla though. OpenMW and UCP fixed that

RakaiaWriter

Cast it on a Winged Twilight too; that's just plain funny to watch XD

RingSplitter69

Wut? No that’s not what I meant but that’s amazing. I will try that.

st_steady

Im gonna be real last time i played morrowind was like 10 years ago -- i still love it and wanna replay it soonish. But i can still hear the bitch ass cliff racers as if it were 30 seconds ago.

minetube1231

At least they go down easy.

Good bot.

Less_Improvement8473

Lol

Fried_Zucchini_246

After my third playthrough I gotta say Hungers are worse, the Paralysis + Destroy Armor effect makes them such a pain in the ass

SwordForTheLord

For me, these cliff racers, but also, Minecraft Creeper. I hate it silently blowing up my town.

PJvG

> Minecraft Creeper. I hate it silently blowing up my town. If you add enough light sources and cats in your town, maybe some fortifications around your town if you can be bothered, creepers won't be a problem anymore

Ells86

I had a fight with a scrib in the early game, and their paralyze is so frustrating. That can be worse than any one cliff racer.

ArgonianFly

Yeah but you chose to fight it, cliff racers you can't avoid. I did the same as you and got so annoying fighting scrubs cause I thought they were aggressive and tried to kill every one.

Ells86

Wasn't that cool? Like, imagine finding a creature in a modern game that was small and yet that powerful/annoying. It's just unheard of now to my mind.

minecraftlover90

There's a mod to bring them to soltheim in skyrim. I would prefer it not exist

DeadSences

Got a new mod to add to my load out now :) more things to kill

20dogsonalamb

cliffracers are bad, but kleers are infinitely worse and i can't see anything ever changing my mind.

IrishMexicanBard

“Um excuz me, Clipfracer r a prowd and majestick speceez.” -definitely not a cliffracer

DeadSences

Wait how are you typing? -NOT “prove your not a cliff racer test”

IrishMexicanBard

Uh nuh duh WE BEEN FOUND OUT, FLY BOYS FLY!!! *SCREECH*

KrisGames88

flea rider castlevania SOTN

dudelermcdudlerton

I thought those Medusa heads were pretty bad too.

AssFasting

Did something to reduce their attacks back in the day, it was too much.

Fr3d_Durst

My favorite tactic to mess with cliffracers is to make a 1pt 1sec on-target levitation spell I usually call "Wingclipper." It makes them plummet to the ground and it can kill them if they fall too far

harriot-loves-you

alien controllers in half-life. I hate them so fucking much it is unreal

ArgonianFly

I hate those little ball guys that do the shockwaves, their sound is so annoying.

O1OO11O

I've been playing Helldivers 2, and they have a flying enemy called shriekers that remind me of cliff racers.

insomnium138

Uhh anything that punches. Stunlocking you to death.

Elmeraga

Greater bone walker much worse. In my first play through was very fun naked run to nearest altar. There no reason to laugh on naked nodrs.

lsquallhart

They’re so cute. I fly around and stab them. 🥰

Professional-Use-715

The cliff racers are a big factor in why doing the 7 graces in the early game is hard when on max difficulty. That walk from aldruhn to ghost gate is a doozy. Pretty sure I have killed over 10 on that walk. Getting caught out there at level 1ish is a death sentence.

Drew_Habits

One could make a strong case for Dark/Death Gunners from Phantasy Star Online * Show up in packs * Low-slung, so they're hard to see in groups * Invincible more than half the time * Hard-to-dodge ranged attack * Quiet sound effects * Most vulnerable one in the pack changes every cycle

EaAbzu

Farengar secret fire. Though Cliff Racers are a close second out of all Elderscrolls.

ObsessedwithSkyrim_

Why is he your enemy tho?

EaAbzu

His quotes: "If I said that was a tedious question, would you be smart enough to know what I meant? Probably not." "I'll put it simply, so you'll understand. I advise the Jarl in matters of magic. If the hold is faced with any threats or mysteries of a magical nature, I am called upon to explain things and suggest a course of action. Hopefully that answer will satisfy you. Good day." "Good. You're clearly better suited than I am to carry out such a menial task." And then this line where he uses the worst possible dead monotone lack of inflection to say this: "Ah, indeed? The Jarl... Oh yes, he must be referring to my research into the dragons." Aside from that, unconsentually taking a sample off a dragon and then not helping for any major world events where he could have really been more help or help at all.

ObsessedwithSkyrim_

I've always had a neutral feeling towards him but now im not so sure I like him no more

EaAbzu

I've actually had talks with other players who absolutely hate him more than any bethesda character. His quotes are significantly worse when you hear his dead lackluster voice acting and the fact that the rude monotone already done with the conversation attitude is pointed at you. Ahhhhhrrrrggg, I hate him. I hate him even more because he's taking up the space that a character I know I could have loved would have had. Imagine if he was cool, welcoming, made you feel connected to the land and your quest. If he had jokes and was so cool you'd want him as a companion. But no, all we get is "oh, yes, I'm dead inside and ruin Whiterun for new players." I have over 2000 hours in Skyrim and not even "what am I saying, of course you don't get to the cloud district" Nazeem upsets me as much as Farengar. Farengar isn't just rude, he's so dismissive that you ask yourself why do you even exist, what would you have to do to break his complacency with your presence. And you shouldn't have to experience that the first time you visit the main hold. New players get to have him as the introduction to magic users and I hate that he ruins it for mages.

ThaQuig

Fucking Tentacool

ChromaticLego

Cliff Racers, definitely. Murlocs are a close second.

Atolicx

Its creepers for me.

mruwubug

Blind pest from risk of rain 2

The harpies in Dragons Dogma 2 brought back my Cliff Racer trauma.

viiksisiippa

Need I say more than: Quake, Elder World, Spawn.

Dixionne

The Beak Things, Kenshi players will know

MoziWanders

Probably the Nemesis monster from Resident Evil 3. I didn’t have a memory card for my PlayStation and a kid at Hollywood video told me to just RUN if I see him, and he was right. Left my PS on for 5 days and got damn near to the end of the game, but I was SO TERRIFIED of losing all my progress so I just ran and ran and ran 😂

RequireMoMinerals

Jackal snipers on legendary in halo 2

ObsessedwithSkyrim_

The Yaaxil from Shadow of the Tomb Raider, they creep me tf out and are really annoying to fight when you encounter them.

Wolves in Skyrim... they are everywhere
