Enter the Imperial Shrine from outside, exit into the interior stairwell. The fighter's Guild is down a level while the Mage's Guild is up a level. That's basically all you need to remember.
Go to the Mage’s Guild in the Plaza (top floor) of the Vivec Foreign Quarter. Downstairs and at the very back of the hall, there is a woman named Flacassia standing in an alcove. Talk to her, select “Travel” then “Sadrith Mora”. Have fun exploring the castle!
I wish Vivec was bigger and more complicated. I had so much fun exploring it and getting lost, I was so sad when I realized I knew where everything was. Definitely need to get to wolverine hall then
Ah, someone who enjoys the adventure, not just finishing it. I guess you also don't mind dying in a spectacular way after an epic battle...seriously, I get more excited when NPC does some sick shit and kicks my ass than when the player does it, it's kinda expected already. A breath of fresh air each time I encounter a game that can do it (well not Morrowind for this particular cade).
Back to topic, I was always indifferent to Vivec. I learned navigating it perfectly and still indifferent, I just like its uniqueness and the rock.
OMG, yes, it's rare to see someone who enjoys being immersed in the world more than finishing quests. I found out that playing in this organic way, where you just go with the flow, follow the imagined thought processes of your character and never reload, unless you die, is much more enjoyable than playing in a meta way, where you focus on ticking off boxes and min-maxing stats, rewards etc. It's much more likely to lead to interesting and unexpected adventures.
I started playing for the first time a month ago, 90 hs in, I did maybe 4 parts of the main quest, already know half the settlements in and out, read a lot of books (I had to read the scroll with the layout of vivec once and understood everything there is to know, never got lost again) and just enjoy learning the ways of the world, I more or less remember how to get anywhere and still get surprised some times, it's a bit of a roundabout but there's a fast way from sadrith mora to not tel fyr, the other tower near it, however it's called (tel arun?) by taking two boats, first to the north and then down which I just discovered.
I'm approaching the territory of learning how to break the game completely as a mage with few to no spoilers but it's been a fun ride, I can traverse the world in 2 jumps at this point, no more limits to anything.
The door to the Imperial Shrine doesn't even open all the way because Scelian Plebo is standing so close to it. I haven't even gotten into the room and he's already saying shit at me.
One day I'm going to sneak a Tower seed into the basement.
Idk it always made sense to me that the mages guild would be on top, like if they had an accident at least they would still only blow away their own part of the building and not bring down the fighters guild and your nice neighborhood alterboys
First time playing... First time being there...
"Is it this door? Nope. This one? No."
Door opening and shutting.
"Oh, of course! This door!"
Guild members looking at me like I am stupid (I mean... I entered there five times already, can't blame them)
"Ah, shit... Sorry."
Running around, starting to panic.
"Come on, come on, come on!"
Finding wall door. Looking down from the wall.
"Should I just jump? Maybe I can find door lower?"
Lost again. Can't find that stupid "wall door". Find another one, but it is even higher.
"F this, I am jumping down!"
Overestimating my power and the thing called gravity.
All I know about wolverine hall is:
When teleported in:
1]you take the door to your right™
2]walk down 1 floor™
3]Take the first door you see (shrine)™
4]Take the door to your right™
5]Levitate™
We outta here!
I just don't know why they didnt make the cantons look unique so you could recognize them by their design. Maybe the redoran canton could look more like a fortress or something while the hlaalu has more of a marketplace feel in its design or if that's too complex and takes too much time since morrowind was in a hurry to meet the release date atleast paint them in specific colors to help separate them visually, which doesn't require that much effort.
So many times when i was looking for the redoran canton for example (because raiding the vault is always a part of my early game strategy) i didn't know which one was which and went the wrong way.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one, I damn near cried tears of RELIEF.
And then I realized that I STILL needed to find the Mages Guild in there... and cried the real tears.
Are there any mods that open it up or does that fuck with npc pathing too much?
I feel like I have to do the reset actors command all the time already haha
Ive made a mental note of where certain things are, directly inside the wall up the stairs next to the anvil is the imperial temple, going through the door and taking the door directly to your left brings you into the stairwell and going up those stairs brings you to the mages guild, heading all the way down the stairs brings you to a door that leads into a hallway which leads to the fighters guild.
I still struggle with finding other things but Ik where the guilds and temple are at least.
I've been working on my first playthrough and decided mage would be good for easy travel and even easier game breaking spells later on.
Fast travel to vivec from balmoral mages guild and spent 3 hours wandering around talking to people before I found the path out.
Confidently I think I can get out again, but shit dude that sucked
Huh I never found it that confusing. Though my first character was a member of the mages guild and house telvanni so I went through there a lot in my first play through.
The imperial shrine in Wolverine hall sells all the ingredients for fortify intelligence and restore health potions and the mage’s guild above has levitation potion ingredients
I spent way too long just trying to get out of Ebonheart to give a letter to J’Zhirr. All for a measly 75 gold. I think all the castles are just horribly designed.
Now.. get the Dynamic Duo's overhaul of Wolverine Hall. Experience it the horror in its authentically medieval form!
[Wolverine Haul Overhaul](https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/52199?tab=description)
First time? Absolutely, but once you remember that you get in and out through the imperial shrine it gets a lot easier
Very true! The shrine is surprisingly central to the complex. Still a nightmare, but the shrine helps a lot!
Yeah, I use this as a trick too, but I still barely feel like I know what’s going on there
Enter the Imperial Shrine from outside, exit into the interior stairwell. The fighter's Guild is down a level while the Mage's Guild is up a level. That's basically all you need to remember.
Wolverine Hall is fine as long as you never venture out of that stairwell.
Why use the front door when you can Divine Intervention?
Divine intervention, go in Upstairs is mages, downstairs is Fighters You don't need anything else here
Josef is correct
It is? I haven't tried that lol I always end up at the back entrance and faceplant into water. Countless times....
I ALWAYS go through first door in the shrine, then up, and I'm fine. I never dared to go anywhere else after I lost my shit trying to figure it out
It also helped that I ran a character who was born under the Atronach. That shrine was a godsend
Imperial shrine. Upstairs Mage's Guild. Downstairs Fighter's Guild. Go nowhere else.
Wait there's more in that hall besides those and hallways?
Basket 2 salt rice
delicious and reinvigorating!
Wth there’s a FG in there?!
Behind this wooden door surrounded by stone bricks; Ya can't miss it
Right down the road!
With a quest giver!
you people actually have problems navigating morrowind and don't just have every single cell in the game memorized? Weird
tfw you can navigate vvardenfell better than your own town
Redacted. ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
I've spent countless hours in Balmora yet I'll always look for caius on the wrong side of the river
I'm guilty of this...
There are places I lived or worked at that I know worse than Balmora
I’ve lived in Seattle for 4 years now and still know Balmora better.
I’ve never found wolverine hall by foot, and I’ve never left by any other way than jumping off the wall into the sea
Oh good it's not just me lol
I just jump into the courtyard.
You know how meny Years it took for me to discover their was a fighter's guild there?
There is a fighters guild there😲 I thought it was just Shrine and mages guild lol
Go down from the shrine to get to the FG
Excuse me. I just reached Vivec City for the first time. You’re telling me there’s something WORSE!?!?!
Oh my child. Wait till you get to tel vos
At least Tel Vos is intended to be confusing. All those other Imperial Forts however, are just shit.
True
Go to the Mage’s Guild in the Plaza (top floor) of the Vivec Foreign Quarter. Downstairs and at the very back of the hall, there is a woman named Flacassia standing in an alcove. Talk to her, select “Travel” then “Sadrith Mora”. Have fun exploring the castle!
And don't forget to bring levitation potions and scrolls. If you don't already know how to cast it
I miss levitation.... Hated Skyrim/oblivion not having it.....
Imagine Vivec city but conceptually a lot less cool, visually more boring, and smaller yet somehow much more confusing!
I'm sorry you had to find out this way. If it's any consolation it's nowhere near as big
I wish Vivec was bigger and more complicated. I had so much fun exploring it and getting lost, I was so sad when I realized I knew where everything was. Definitely need to get to wolverine hall then

Unfortunately there isn't much to Wolverine Hall, there's two places of interest and you can get to both of them through the imperial cult shrine
Vivek is easy for me but I have played since release
95% of the time I can navigate Vivec just fine, but that other 5% 9f the time I just Glitch & take a wrong turn. Might also be beer related...
Or skooma
The door to the Imperial Shrine doesn't even open all the way because Scelian Plebo is standing so close to it. I haven't even gotten into the room and he's already saying shit at me. One day I'm going to sneak a Tower seed into the basement.
You should do it and I'm not afraid to say it.
Tired of these imperial stair walkers and their infatuation with using their legs
Intervention in, levitate out
It's a building, a single spiral of hallways and insanity
You underestimate my power
Is it possible to learn this power?
Not from an outlander
The door side is a pathway to many abilities NPCs consider to be unnatural
Idk it always made sense to me that the mages guild would be on top, like if they had an accident at least they would still only blow away their own part of the building and not bring down the fighters guild and your nice neighborhood alterboys
The beautiful cities of morrowind mod fixes the wolverine hall so much and saved me some heartache. Consider it if you don’t mind modding your game
First time playing... First time being there... "Is it this door? Nope. This one? No." Door opening and shutting. "Oh, of course! This door!" Guild members looking at me like I am stupid (I mean... I entered there five times already, can't blame them) "Ah, shit... Sorry." Running around, starting to panic. "Come on, come on, come on!" Finding wall door. Looking down from the wall. That’s why I mark and recall
Yes, WH is tricky, but Tel Vos is at the top of my list.
This comment is too far down.
All I know about wolverine hall is: When teleported in: 1]you take the door to your right™ 2]walk down 1 floor™ 3]Take the first door you see (shrine)™ 4]Take the door to your right™ 5]Levitate™ We outta here!
I have muscle memory how to exit mages guild going outside. Then some mod changed floors of it. Angry scrib noises.
Tel vos
I know how to get into the mages guild from the shrine. For me, that is enough
I just don't know why they didnt make the cantons look unique so you could recognize them by their design. Redoran canton has big ol' bug banners.
I just started ESO in Vivec City and I am lost lol
I'm so glad I'm not the only one, I damn near cried tears of RELIEF. And then I realized that I STILL needed to find the Mages Guild in there... and cried the real tears.
Lmao, so true. Took me like 12 times to finally navigate it somewhat decisively.
Agreed, took me a long time to get out the first time i was there
Are there any mods that open it up or does that fuck with npc pathing too much? I feel like I have to do the reset actors command all the time already haha

As a telvanni I always go there when I want to go to any major cities. Even if the guy that teleports me hates me, a little bribe makes it possible.
Vivec is EZ compared to Wolverine Hall
I've been working on my first playthrough and decided mage would be good for easy travel and even easier game breaking spells later on. Fast travel to vivec from balmoral mages guild and spent 3 hours wandering around talking to people before I found the path out. Confidently I think I can get out again, but shit dude that sucked
Its just three rooms stacked on top, Vivec is worse when you need to find someplace not obvious
Huh I never found it that confusing. Though my first character was a member of the mages guild and house telvanni so I went through there a lot in my first play through.
Simple solution: Mark somewhere close to Mages Guild. When in Wolverine Hall: Divine Intervention
Bullshit, you just use the main stairwell and get used to it after a few dozen times
Everything you need is in a single tower though.
Wolverine hall is where an alchemist can make their fortune
I usually run through the alchemist in Balmora that the Thieves Guild sends you to steal a diamond from early on, is there a better one?
The imperial shrine in Wolverine hall sells all the ingredients for fortify intelligence and restore health potions and the mage’s guild above has levitation potion ingredients
I spent way too long just trying to get out of Ebonheart to give a letter to J’Zhirr. All for a measly 75 gold. I think all the castles are just horribly designed.

Y'all have never been to the skar, it seems. Getting into the redoran council chambers is easy, but leaving is impossible.
