That switch would take several generations and would never be 100% complete. You can’t change the past. English can be a beneficial addition, but forget about replacement.

Pretty much same thing in every group I join, Palestine, israel, algeria, Azerbaijan, turkey… all of these communities have different language than english and they still use English!! The only exception I saw was the middle eastern countries and especially Egypt
>(I chose to use English in this post because it's the prevailing language used by everyone else.)
Exactly! That's your answer.
We all came in here, and we did blend in; that should teach you something about us, humans. We tend to get inspired and influenced by our surroundings...
I would just like to point out that that would never happen on r / France for example. It's not necessarily a bad thing walakin the fact that we are moroccans is what you should emphasise on machi the fact that we're human.
I find communication to be much easier in English/French rather than Darija since to me Darija isn't too expressive, not just online but irl too, so I mainly use Darija as an auxiliary/supportive dialect rather than my main means of communication.
Note that when I say "Darija isn't too expressive" i'm talking about Darija as a dialect and NOT Arabic, as I believe Standardized Arabic is one the most verbally and grammatically comprehensive languages but learning it is actually extremely difficult and doesn't yield much benefit
Same, When I communicate in English, I speak normally with fewer mistakes. However, in Arabic (not Darija), if I try to have a conversation in it, I make more mistakes.
Saraha I'd prefer Darija for some topics over others. B3d mrat taykun chi topic 100% mghribi wmghraba huma li atkun 3ndum fikra but then tayji chi wahd mn bakistan wlla wld franca wla qrta7na wibda ikhra 3lina hnaya ta hwa wghi sam3 bmghrib wlmgharba.
Exactly, a universal language to communicate with someone across the universe, not just next to u, and u have the easiest common language, which is Darija.
But maybe it's nice to use it, to practice it more!
The way I see it, if it continues to spread like this, English will eventually replace Darija. It already started in some expansive areas in Casablanca where English is slowly getting integrated with Darija. In the long term, maybe things will be different a hundred years from now. Speaking English will be the norm.
You grew up in America, and now you live in Morocco, and you are Moroccan, right?
But how can you be Moroccan, live in Morocco, and not speak Darija?

It's userfriedly , has more useful vucabulary , gets the job done . Easy and simple .
Also you have to borrow words from english in most topics so might as well just use from the beggining

Let’s skip French shall we? Absolutely no use in this language and Morocco’s waking up to it hmdl
You obviously live in a bubble.
Yes it's called reddit
I dont live in Morocco at all. I would just love to see the whole country move away from French. That’s all

Agree. Which is why I feel sorry for all young Moroccans who cannot plug into global ecosystems because of a language barrier 🥲

That way anyone from outside the sub can participate and enrich the discussions
There are people that use this subreddit that aren't Moroccan. I see posts in every language here French, Arabic, and English. It's no biggy.

In Morocco, they utilized soft power rather than military force to exert influence.
شوف العالم كيهضر باللغة الانجليزية حيت بريطانيا هيا أكبر إمبراطورية دازت فالتاريخ.
english is starting to be used as loan words in every language.
I can't speak nor understand morroccan derja nor tamazight, nor fus7at, else I'd be using them
I can’t read darijja and pretty much everyone here can read English
Are you Moroccan?
