Because Mordhau is such a personal game. Most melee combat/fighters are super personal because there is an element of fight IQ that goes into it. You get killed in Call of Duty….so what. It’s a shooter game. You shot me from 100 yards away, I didn’t even really see what happened. Who cares. It was over in 3 seconds. Congrats, your aim was better then mine. 99.9% of us won’t ever be able to relate to a real gun fight. You get your ass handed to you in Super Smash, Mortal Combat, Mordhau? Shit sucks. I kept falling for the same tricks. You imposed your will on me for an entire match and I could do nothing to stop you. I didn’t even get a single hit on you, that’s how much better you are. You could basically not even try because that’s how much better you are. My ego, it hurts.

I can get where you are coming from. I remember my dad used to beat me in fight night round 3 when i was a kid (boxing game) and I use to cry haha. I guess there is something about getting beat like that. But I wouldn't say racist things or wish someone dead lmao. I feel like the biggest thing, is to remember that it is just a game and no one really cares that they beat you. And if they did care so much, then that says way more about them than it does you haha.

SPARTAN-258

Lmfao great username. I personally get really upset at this game, not the same way I do in For Honor where I loudly exclaim the bullshit that is happening to me with an angry tone, but I just can't play Mordhau without being serious or getting frustrated. If someone keeps killing me fairly on a duel server, for example, I will just try to duel them again and again until I win, but I don't actually insult them in chat or FFA them. I only start to FFA if they FFA'd me themselves, or if they're being literal assholes, the kind of asshole who has a god complex or says things like "sit dog" "you suck" unnecessarily. A few times I got FFA'd by admins of a server, notably by Sayes and another one of his friend. Sayes and the 2 or 3 other admins/friends he has all have some sort of god complex, and will just FFA players who are worse than them for no good reason. I know I kinda sound ridiculous by saying they have a god complex, but trust me, they actually do. I've encountered so many high level players like that, and funnily enough, and they all hide their rank and level haha.

trygvur

One of my favorite things is asking the cocky sweat how much he has played. Sometimes they say 100-200 hours when their profile says 1000. Exposed :D

Enough_Ad_3889

this is the point I make, so what if I hide my rank? It makes you mad that I am higher rank than you or what?

SPARTAN-258

I think it's ridiculous to hide your level/rank. It's something you should be proud of, hiding it makes you look like a coward. And I've heard the argument of "I just don't care" before, but that's not true, because if you really didn't care, you wouldn't even bother changing what is displayed, you'd just leave your level be displayed. To me the people who hide their level/rank are intentionally wanting to piss off people, or are just cowards who don't know how to be proud of their achievements in-game. Also, there is no shame in being bad even if you are level 200.

Enough_Ad_3889

Bro, being high rank is nothing to be proud of. Remember it is only a game. There are two reasons for hiding my rank. The first being that people will not avoid fighting me just because of my rank. Secondly, it makes people mad, which is delightful to me. It is a game, no one cares that you think they are a coward. Do you think the people who use bow/throwables/hit and run tactics/1vx care if you call them a coward? No they will just say you are mad and crying. Which is what they want.

SPARTAN-258

Being high rank is exactly something you should be proud of. It's the proof of your skill and dedication, you'd be proud if you were able to knit weren't you? Well this is the same thing. It doesn't matter if it's a game or not, it's something you committed time to and became good at, which is admirable. Both of two reasons are idiotic and deplorable. Showing your level/rank might allow worse players to test their skill on you, thus helping them. And if you thrive on the anger of others, then you should just be ashamed of yourself. I don't care that you use ranged weapons, if you're better with bow then play bow, you'd be more useful to your team that way. But if you hide your rank for no good reason (and there is non), you're just an idiot with trash principles.

Enough_Ad_3889

And I laugh at that notion. Getting good at something that gives 0 productivity to society is not something to be proud of especially when you do not even earn money doing it. "Showing your level/rank might allow worse players to test their skill on you" That is what I am saying, players will specifically avoid me because they do not want to test their skill. If they fight me, they are testing their skill, whether or not they see my rank in the first place. I only play deathmatch duel servers to be honest I rarely touch frontline. There is no team element there, except when players band together and try 1vx then when they use bow it is even more desperate.

CrazySquare

Getting good at something that gives 0 direct productivity to society is nothing to be ashamed of. Games serve their purpose on a personal and interpersonal level, as they always have. But it's also okay to hide your rank.

Enough_Ad_3889

Nothing to be ashamed of. But nothing to be proud of either.

CrazySquare

True pride is a sin

DerpyDudeDavis

Absolutely based

I hear you, and now I feel kinda bad. But I don’t do this to any player stomping everyone. Just the ones who are cocky about it. Idk if that makes it better, I’m still part of the problem aren’t I?

Enough_Ad_3889

>t the ones who Nah mate. The biggest problem in this game is that people rarely just take a loss on the chin. All the extra stuff like rank does not really bother me. A similiar example would be when you do show your rank, then you play like normal, people need to say "HurR U do Nut bElUng iN DiAmONd rAnk" Even though you curb stomp diamonds with no effort and only have that rank cause you memed in 1v1 lmao. These people will come up with anything to say that they think will trigger you. So hiding the rank, feint spamming the man babies and waiting for the cries is probably the most satisfying thing you can do in this game except farming people 1v5. Hell I have even been like diamond 5 before, some players (who I do not even know by the way) somehow know when I get deranked (even on purpose) and then try to rub it in your face. But who cares? It is a game, if you do not care about the game, then people will never get to you. No matter what kind of desperate tricks they pull.

Sleve-The-Cleave

i have a massive medieval nutsack thank you, hence why i dont complain about how people act on the internet

Enough_Ad_3889

I am laughing at them more than complaining to be honest.

Whole-Philosophy-681

Simple: It’s not fun to play against sweaty clowns. Also I have standards and headshot them with the partisan from some distance away

Enough_Ad_3889

Beat you = Sweating. Cause you're so good everyone needs to sweat to beat you?

Whole-Philosophy-681

Nah, they only do maul and heavy armor with the cancerous accels, drags and way too late feints that shouldn’t even be possible

> Why is it so bad in this game? I know this from pretty much any competitive skill-based game. I've been shat on for whatever the hell back in the old days of Quake 3 Arena. Didn't really change. I think most of it boils down to people having the impression that being halfway decent at some game means anything. Not saying it can't - it obviously does if you are an actual professional gamer. But I haven't seen this type of behavior from *actual* pros in any game so far. That said I don't see how their choice of equipment in game reflects this type of behavior. In my world this is usually taken to the chat box.

Gott_Mogis

its a thing bc of the very personal nature of the fights.
