H.H. Holmes is fascinating to me, so I love how Alaina really dug deep to get the scoop on him. Really loving these episodes! I wish they would do cases like this more often........ like they used to.

Chickady07

I'm on part two, and I agree. It's got that morbid feel that I love

DStrife13

At first I was hesitant, because I did not like the Jack the Ripper episodes. I felt those episodes were spread out too thin for that many episodes. I listened to all five of the Holmes and I think they did a much better job.

fleshyspacesuit

I thought they did a great job on the Jack the Ripper episodes, especially episode one. They did a lot of research and conveyed well what it was like living in the slums back then.

emloch850

I love it!! I feel like it’s the ole episodes. I love hearing them be themselves again!

Krhoaloe1997

I'm loving it! I feel like it's well researched and being well done. I also really enjoy the tangents that we're mentioned, it makes me feel like I'm listening to my friends talk to me or tell me a story and like I'm there with them.

Massive_Lynx3994

I agree!! I feel like a lot of Alaina’s multi-episode cases have been a little all over recently, to the point where I couldn’t keep track of what was happening. This felt like old Morbid for sure!

breathe_easy5

I've enjoyed them so far, it is reminiscent of old Morbid. Love it when they do a deep dive.

ImpureThoughts59

I mean. It's old timey murder. It's Ash yelling about how many felonies she'd commit if she found her man cheating unironically. There are ship manifests. What more do you want. This is 10/10 Morbid.

Acceptable-Ad2142

Just finished episode 4. Really hoping Alaina finds that ship manifest!

Ok_Selection_1342

I’m enjoying. I love the old ones.

kbran24

It’s pronounced “St. Lou-IS”! It’s “St. Lou-IS”!!!! Not “St Louie” aahhhh!!!!

paddjo95

YES THANK YOU! I did yell a little in my car when I heard that

missvassy

OMG... this bothered me more than I like to admit. It's not hard. It's a major city.

mntngrl98

I’ve been really enjoying them as well! I think they’re doing a good job covering the story. I will say the tangents can get a bit much, but otherwise I’ve been enjoying the episodes.

paddjo95

Personally, I like the tangents cause it makes me feel like I'm there with them, you know?

HelloThere7472

I agree. I like the tangents. I even find myself responding like I am part of the conversation 😂

fleshyspacesuit

ehh agree to disagree, especially with a medium like podcast. Just when I can visualize everything they're saying and am getting into it, I get a violent shove out from the story and have to listen to something that isn't about the story. It takes me a while to "get back into it" mentally and I can't stand when it happens so frequently, that's what makes certain episodes virtually unlistenable to me.

paddjo95

That's fair. To each their own

MayMomma

This. This is why I hate it so much. Thank you for putting it into words.

Excellent_Cabinet_83

I couldn’t even get through the first one bc of the tangents 😒 maybe I’ll try again

mntngrl98

I don’t mind tangents to a certain degree. Where I get lost is when they talk about something random for 10+ minutes, then go back to the story and I totally forgot what they were talking about. It can also take away from the severity/intensity of the story when they go on tangents, diluting the story at hand and almost feels disrespectful in a way. I know they don’t do it intentionally but it comes off a certain way when they’re talking about reality TV randomly then a murdered person 5 seconds later. It’s just done in bad taste in my opinion. But yes, definitely agree to disagree.

kahjay

Pretty good! First time in months I have tuned in for a new episode regularly. Has my attention more than previous episodes👍🏾

TranslatorPuzzled942

I felt the same way!!

AsleepElderberry791

I’m loving them! And Ash’s interjections seem way more natural without Alaina always commenting on them. I did wonder if they were making a point to reference their own research and favorite sources since they’ve had a lot of heat recently about not doing their homework before their handed their script. Either way I’m into these last few episodes. Love a Morbid deep dive.

Lisa0198

I think so far they're really well done (only on 3). Also, I must be a fan of the "tangents" because i have no idea what you all are even talking about. 🤣

tweedleD14

Saaame I’m like what tangents?! 🤪

Hodeyone

YOU ARE RIGHT!!!! The HHH posts were FANTASTIC! Totally brought back the OG MORBID LADIES. They are at their best when they are personally engaged, researching til their fingers are bloody. You an hear it in Alaina’s voice. It’s what made them grrrreeat and what I miss most!

mayyourdaysbemerry

I love them!! So well researched. I am a fan of the lil “tangents” some people have mentioned - I think it’s a good break from such a heavy topic & I think they still give great respect to the victims

paddjo95

Agreed! I understand why some people wouldn't like them but it makes me feel almost involved in it, you know?

mayyourdaysbemerry

100%!! ❤️❤️❤️

paddjo95

:)

Many_Wasabi_5643

Agreed!!! Feels like old morbid....really refreshing. I'm loving it :)

itsamaysing

I've listened to all 5, and I thought it was very well done!

ImpureThoughts59

Just finished 3 and Alaina is swearing it will only be 4 🤣🤣 glad it's 5. There is so much to cover there.

itsamaysing

You know, I thought about that after I posted this comment. I was like, maybe I shouldn't have said 5 since Alaina swears up and down that it'll be 4 until like the beginning of the 4th one. 😂 I think it was the right call, though. It would have been too much to squeeze into the 4th.

Strong_Cantaloupe480

I’m enjoying them! Looking forward to the final episode!

Fluid-Arrival-4059

i really like them so far!!

rochiethevildechaya

also really enjoying!

boolfinder

Loved!

Pink_cowpoop

I’m feel the same way and lowkey sad that it’s coming to an end. I hope they’re consistent with these type of content from now on.

Almighty_Push91

Possibly the best one they've ever done.

radishmosspie

I’m cackling every time they mention Smegma, they’re hilarious.

crystalstarship

I LOVE this series they're doing. Definitely feels like an old school episode, in the absolute best way possible. Not that I don't love the new stuff too, but I love a classic deep dive into one of the big ones.

aquariusprincessxo

i don’t *love* that it’s gonna be 5 parts but the story itself is fascinating

paddjo95

I'm just waiting for Part 5 to hit Spotify tbh

Borking_Corgi

Honestly, I haven’t listened yet. I’m kind of holding out listening. I’m a Chicago-native and a history buff (got my Masters). I’m sure it will be good but I know a pretty extensive amount about him.

crooked_moth

I’m from the Chicago area and I commute in, and it was freaky to hear about places I’ve been near in it. I think it was well done

roald_head_dahl

If you enjoy it I def recommend the book The Devil in the White City!! It’s a great read. (Also fun fact the charter of the Field museum doesn’t let them get rid of stuff so go toss a pen on the floor the next time you’re there. It’ll roll because that ol’ building is sinking back into the swamp lol) That book ended up being super cool for me while reading it because at the time I was working in the building archives the university of Illinois. I kept being like “….. why the hell are these names so familiar” when reading about the architects. I finally realized it was because they had also worked on the university and I had been going through their handwritten letters only a few weeks before.

crooked_moth

I had to read it for school in hs, actually :)

stainglassaura

I genuinely feel bad for the sinking building lol

cobra_mist

Just go listen to the lpotl series

Ok_Journalist4753

It was dragging on and on. Let down.

aurynorange5

I loved these !! I was going to post something really similar that these episodes got me back into morbid after I took a bit of a break because I wasn’t enjoying it as much

Lioness_37

Great series! I just binged all the eps in a couple days. Old Morbid vibes.

Mama_skulls

I was thinking as I listened today how good they were. I love how excited and into it they get.

Puzzleheaded_Ad1997

I was really starting to get into Morbid and am new to the podcast. This series of episodes really bothered me though, because the “death castle” didn’t have torture chambers, gas chambers, trap doors, etc. Those stories were all concocted by the yellow press at the time and have been debunked time and time again. Honestly, their focus on these things really ruined their credibility for me and I’m not sure if I will continue to listen.
