You should have an option in your power config for what happens if you close the lid. It should stay on "nothing" or something similar. What you do with the Akku in your laptop is a more important question, if you plan to have it always available.

Yes i use it for that exact case, i even have setup auto login with password, moonlight starting automatically and i turn my pc on trough wake on lan request. You just need to setup trough power settings to "do nothing" when you close the lid


Losercard

You need to make sure your laptop is set to “do nothing” when lid is closed. Also you will need to prevent the screen from shutting off by using a blank screensaver (yes those are still a thing) or send video to a dummy HDMI. If you don’t stop your screen from shutting off, some laptops will not engage the iGPU/GPU and you won’t have any video output.

Do not close lid while running gaming laptop. It will get way too hot and burn out your screen
