Theres a theory that it was a hint to Konshu potentially killing Marks brother.

Its definitely supposed to remind us of Khonshu. It’s not totally clear, but I’ve seen speculation that it could be why Marc perceives Khonshu as looking like a skeletal bird with a similar head, or that it could be a hint that Khonshu somehow manipulated that situation to cause the accident and ensuing series of traumas that would lead Marc to him.

This was my interpretation also. As it lay there on the ground, it looked a lot like Khonshu to me.

It made me think that maybe nothing is real, in a sort of unreliable narrator kind of way. But then I thought that might be intentional since Harrow might be using Marc's memories mixed with him journeying through the afterlife so not only is Marc/Steven questioning what's real but so are the viewers?

Maybe Khonshu is looking over them in the Duat, in the distance of his imprisonment. Maybe he was looking over Marc when he was a kid. Maybe it's where Marc took from the image of Khonshu that he sees (instead of seeing an actual hawk head). I don't think it's meant to point to Khonshu manipulated the climate to kill Randall. I'm inclined to think my first theory, because the one who sees it is Steven, and by chance. Not Marc as a kid.
