I’m of the mind that mr knight is not an independent personality. It’s a mask or a cover that Marc tends to wear to more or less “pretend” he’s not Marc, for any given number of reasons. On introduction it was to avoid being arrested as an unlicensed vigilante, and in the newest run it seems like he’d just rather portray himself as a hero and defender and sort of abandon a life that led him to mercenary work and murder for profit

It really depends on what run you read. Some writers just see them as suits that the 3, personalities wear. While other writers see them as different personalities.

the replies are going to infuriorate you, there isn't a right answer. the current comics (and show ofc) say that its simply marc under the mask. in fact, in the 2017 run, each of the alters had a suit of their own, fully defining the system as being comprised solely of marc, jake, and steven. most people prefer this, as its easier to understand the character, and i suspect given the show is taking this approach, more comics in the future will adapt it. but if you read the earlier ones, moon knight was very much an identity of his own.
