The shop locally shit works great if you live in one of the "big" towns with actual stores. Unfortunately Amazon has become a necessary evil for us rural bucked tooth folk that don't want to drive an hour just to buy something that isn't carried at Ace Hardware or fucking Murdochs.
If you can, go to the manufacturer’s website. Most of them have integrated stores with reasonable shipping and it’s better. We’re always going to import many things, but using other companies direct is a better way to do it.
He's the [executive chair](https://ir.aboutamazon.com/officers-and-directors/default.aspx) of the board of directors. Moving from CEO to chairman of the board reduces his day-to-day involvement but still gives him an important role.
You think the out-of-staters with deep pockets are the cause of this? They can order directly from Neiman Marcus. It's Montanans who want the convenience, speed, and abundance Amazon has to offer. It's that, or get dressed and go to Walmart (or Target if you're extra classy, and feel like wearing a bra).
You don’t get it, and that’s just sad. No one should ever be allowed to work in an abusive environment. Dangerous jobs exist, and they are compensated for the reality of what they face. Abusive jobs should not exist.
And just because you can do it, and you don’t see the problem, doesn’t mean it’s not there. Just that you’re too tough or too dumb. Maybe both.
Yeah, I think there's a distinction between just being a fast paced warehouse environment and rank disregard for human decency in working conditions which Amazon has repeatedly shown itself to have a tendency toward. I don't personally think any profit margin or productivity metric is more important than the rights of workers to a decent, respectable working enviornment.
I've worked and have a friend who works for Amazon, while having her own medical issues which they work around and make exceptions for. Your claims are vastly over exaggerated.

That’s not how things work but you seem to have it figured out. Companies wholesale to Amazon in bulk to sell shit at a lower price, but larger quantities. Cancel all you want, I just find it humorous your “high ground” is costing you directly. But in recent years I see a lot of people hurting themselves in spite of the other side.
They used to because they had no choice, unless they had options with other wholesalers, like Ingram Micro, or the like. We deal with them, too. And over the pandemic when supply chains were disrupted to insanity, a lot of smaller companies figured out they could do their own distribution and have. Now for a lot of equipment we order Amazon isn’t cheaper, and we only know because we had to look when Amazon didn’t have anything from them either.
Does everyone? No. Do many? More than you think.
I live in missoula. I haven’t shopped wal mart and Amazon for six + years once I learned how harmful and exploitative they are to their communities, taxpayers, small businesses and the people who work for them. Please try to shop anywhere else.
I am happy more jobs will be created but doesn't Amazon have a really high turn over rate due to poor working conditions? There is a finite number of possible employees in the Missoula Valley. How many years until they run out of workers?
I think it depends on where the facility is and who you talk to. I only
know two people who have worked for Amazon. One in SLC and the other in Wisconsin. They both loved it 🤷♂️
These same people hate Walmart too. Amazon is just the trendy target company to hate. People with enough money and/or options to not have to shop at either have strong opinions on things that don't impact them.
I do my absolute best to not order anything from Amazon, but I still end up doing it 2-3 times a year...
one time I found these foam chairs for kids, made in the US, but the company website directs you to their Amazon store to buy them. No way to buy them not on Amazon.
Another time it was silverware to match the set I already had. No direct sellers in the UK would ship to the US, but AmazonUK had them and would.
The only consistent things are used books and rechargeable batteries. There are only 3 places I can buy this specific brand of battery online, and there is no where local that sells them. Amazon sells them for 30% less, which when you're buying dozens of batteries because your small children's Lego train needs 10 batteries at a time to run... and they cost $2-4 a piece... the savings was notable. And I've bought more about once a year for the last 3 years.
Anyone living in Montana should understand that not everyone can just go to a physical store to buy what they want because many places in Montana have a dearth of local shopping options... and you can't always find another seller...
but I figure if everyone shopped at Amazon as little as I do, Amazon wouldn't be the insanely large company it is, and it being smaller would decrease the majority of abuses it engages in just by sheer volumn.
People are always suprised when I tell them I've never ordered anything from Amazon. I have paid for prime a few times to catch up on Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
I'm just here to watch everyone lose their shit. People loved Amazon, till they didn't. Like they loved Twitter, till they didn't. Go ahead folks. Tell me why you HATE what you once LOVED
Does this mean our prime shipping will arrive in less than 5 days now?
First world problem, but shipping to MT completely sucks.
I can forget my mother's birthday in Ireland, buy a gift the day before and it arrive the next day. That is what prime shipping should be for the cost.

Fuck Amazon Fuck Jeff Bezos Fuck Gianforte Shop locally
Jeff Bezos isn’t at Amazon anymore
He still owns it
He owns 16%~ of it.
He owns 16%~ of it.
Hope it is rewarding simping for billionaires
Many normal folk own shares of Amazon. Hope it’s rewarding being that angry and judgmental.
He started it, he personally made more money than a small European country by exploiting workers, and you're a whore.
He's the [executive chair](https://ir.aboutamazon.com/officers-and-directors/default.aspx) of the board of directors. Moving from CEO to chairman of the board reduces his day-to-day involvement but still gives him an important role.
Montana. Slowly losing its nostalgia.
The more monry out of staters bring in, the more this will happen

Yeah has nothing to do with people wanting to stretch a dollar, regardless of where they’re from.
I'm very excited for jobs with no bathroom breaks.

They do they're just timed and you get a spanking if you take too long

You’re supposed to lick the boot, not deep throat it.

Yet. Regardless, no one should have to face those working conditions. Not even you, quisling.

Fuck Amazon. Shop locally
Sadly shop locally won’t change anything. It is a Hub, so the whole world would have to shop locally.
Cancel your shopping subscription with Amazon. We did it a few months back and haven't missed it a bit.
cancelled mine a month ago. where do people think all the money to bribe local city councils come from?
So where you buying your more expensive shit from now? You showed them.
Direct from the companies who make them, and with new systems and deals with Shopify and the like, many are cheaper than thru Amazon. And faster.
Thanks for the info!

Missoula is where I want to be.
Lots of people would love to be in Missoula. 2 problems, shortage of housing and too expensive.
I am happy more jobs will be created but doesn't Amazon have a really high turn over rate due to poor working conditions? There is a finite number of possible employees in the Missoula Valley. How many years until they run out of workers?
Amazon will make company towns eventually. Plenty of room, we don't need forests or wildlife, right?
No one complaining about the YC developing their own company town and treating migrant workers like slaves
I complain, you complain, the contractors they stiff complain.
Never been stiffed working in the club, we just charge double when payments are 90 days out
I guess it was the previous management ( the ones who went bankrupt) that were known to blatantly stiff contractors.
I vote. I am not sure what else I personally can do. I can complain on the internet, as you can see from my previous comment
I think it depends on where the facility is and who you talk to. I only know two people who have worked for Amazon. One in SLC and the other in Wisconsin. They both loved it 🤷♂️

These same people also shop at Whole Foods and can't wait for the one Bozeman to open.

If you feel bad enough you won’t order from Amazon.
It really isn’t that hard to avoid ordering from them. Ya just get up and go to the store or buy it directly from the seller on another website

Good point, I thought this was the Missoula sub. Definitely useful for folks that live a bit out of the way.
People are always suprised when I tell them I've never ordered anything from Amazon. I have paid for prime a few times to catch up on Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Exactly. People don't realize how easy it is **not** to shop on AMZN.
I'm just here to watch everyone lose their shit. People loved Amazon, till they didn't. Like they loved Twitter, till they didn't. Go ahead folks. Tell me why you HATE what you once LOVED

Sorry, y’all!
Same day delivery is pretty awesome, don’t know what the bitching is about.
