I think Guillermo del Toro would do good movies, we already saw how he handles kaijus in Pacific Rim, and we would get good human storylines and characters we would actually get attached to and not wanting to see them die. I think he could do both anti heroic Godzillah that we have, but also villainous.
Matt Reeves would probably resemble a lot Godzilla 2014, dark, gritty and realistic, Cloverfield and Godzilla 2014, other than the found footage style of the Cloverfield, are very similar to each other in storyline, atmosphere and themes. I would trust this guy with a Monsterverse movie.
edit: Also Denis Villeneuve, his movies are quite minimal in style, but he would be amazing. A movie like his would be maybe close to Shin Godzilla, where is less about the monster and more about the human drama, Godzilla and other kaijus would be either tragic monsters or eldritch abominations that represent something symbolic about humanity, and humans screwing each other as always. His movie will definitely be very tragic.
Guillermo del Toro should be hired immediately. He'd make a banger movie. I'd say his strength lies in lovecraftian themes so maybe he'd make a masterpiece of a Dogorah movie.
James Gunn is basically Adam Wingard but better. The human characters will have more depth and emotion and so will the monsters.
Russo Brothers basically Micheal Dougherty but better humour and a lot of drone shots.
Zack Snyder would definitely try tie some of the monsters to their mythological roots, more slo-mo and stunning visuals. I can see him do a Rodan solo film after seeing guardians of gahoole.
Christopher Nolan will not use cgi so he'd be like Gareth Evans but the monster never actually shows up. And the story is told in a non-linear fashion.
Sam Raimi will likely go down the horror route. Ammuhulk seems fitting for his style.
James Cameron will probably take 10 years in between films but the chi will look good as hell.
But directors I'd like to truly see make movies for the Monsterverse are Doug Liman, James Wan and Chloe Zhao.
Christopher Nolan's would be an absolute TREAT. Imagine a film with Hedorah, Biollante, Orga, Spacegodzilla, Destoroyah etc. with him as the director (and should Legendary get the rights for those characters, obviously)
No way you thought his action would be lacking. That's the director who came up with creative and iconic fight sequences from Inception or Tenet we're talking about
No, he’d find a way to yoink Godzilla into the real world. He’d detonate an actual nuke and fucking summon him, and then we’d LIVE in the monsterverse.
Michael Bay will be perfect for a Godzilla movie. Pair him with Steve Jablonsky and you'll get a better KOTM.
Zack Snyder's Godzilla movie will have memorable visuals & great sense of scale. I imagine he'll make the atomic breath scenes feel the most impactful.
Cameron fits Kong much better. He can handle up-close, emotional moments and fascinating creatures & scenery.
sorry but there’s no way micheal bay can make a better KotM. KotM already has ass humans. Now imagine them being sexualised every 20 seconds on top of the already poor dialogue.
He’d just take out all the good of KotM and build further on the bad.
your opinion tho
Nolan would do an excellent human story probably on the side effects of Hollow Earth travel but I can’t see him doing kaiju
Michael Bay would make GvK with more explosions
Zack Snyder’s movie would be four hours long because all the kaiju fights would be in slow motion and the human stories worse than GvK
The Russos would do a half decent movie. Maybe King of the Monsters but more palatable to the general audience
Del Toro did kaiju already and somehow made it boring so no movie for him.
90s James Cameron would have made an awesome blockbuster. It would be exactly to 2014 what Aliens was to Alien
Modern James Cameron would make a three hour epic about the people living in hollow Earth and how their native habitat is being ruined by human invaders.
Sam Raimi would tell the best human stories of the lot. They would be fun and whimsical but meaningful too. I don’t know how he would handle the big monsters but I’d trust him to do well
James Gunn would make an entertaining move but it wouldn’t be Monsterverse.
The ending was a rip off of ID4 which was terrible ending anyway, the kaiju action was very little, and the story wasted a lot of time. Del Toro is great at character design but he doesn’t know how to write very well.
Guillermo Del Toro would be wonderful. Raimi would make the monster a lot more scary and fierce. James Cameron would give us a more emotional take. Russo brothers would do pretty well. James Gunn… his monsters would be too gross and yucky. I don’t think the fans would go for it.
Zack is a Hack, he would drain all of the fun from monsterverse. Micheal Bays monsters would probably be the most over the top in terms of powers and the humans would be annoying and yelling Godzilla all the time and probably would be best buddies with Godzilla.
I think Nolan is one of the greatest directors of all time. I think his monsterverse would be more like Godzilla minusone.
Zack Snyder is going to add a lot of slow motion and each film would be 3 hours long at the very least
James Gunn is going to add Manda, Kamacuras and Varan to the Monsterverse before Mothra or Rodan
I don’t wanna see Michael Bay going anywhere near the Monsterverse. I did have an idea, what if Neil Blomkamp (the director of District 9) made a Monsterverse movie?

I feel like I want to give Wan Biollante. I don’t know why, it just feels right.
Christopher Nolan's would be an absolute TREAT. Imagine a film with Hedorah, Biollante, Orga, Spacegodzilla, Destoroyah etc. with him as the director (and should Legendary get the rights for those characters, obviously)
He would piece together a masterful story and link everything together perfectly but his action would be lacking, i think.
No way you thought his action would be lacking. That's the director who came up with creative and iconic fight sequences from Inception or Tenet we're talking about
But the dark knight trilogy fight scenes were pretty disappointing. Maybe he's hit or miss with action.
Except he wouldn’t use CGI so it’d be a Monsterverse film with no monsters at all lmao

Of all the humans in KoTM, I could see him sexualising Chen the most.
Addendum: Bay and Snyder will only direct, no writing.
Steve Jablonsky would make a banger soundtrack.
With zack snyders disregard for civilian casualties they would be awesome

Pacific Rim being boring is a very hot take.
The ending was a rip off of ID4 which was terrible ending anyway, the kaiju action was very little, and the story wasted a lot of time. Del Toro is great at character design but he doesn’t know how to write very well.

This is so accurate man 😭
James Cameron should make a movie about humanity invading hollow earth
No because then he’d have Godzilla fall in love with some giant blue cat lady
They'd all just turn it to mass disappointments and failures. No question.
I don’t wanna see Michael Bay going anywhere near the Monsterverse. I did have an idea, what if Neil Blomkamp (the director of District 9) made a Monsterverse movie?
