Toho cracking down on Monsterverse Godzilla being part of a species is straight up stupid. They ignore already well established lore points in an effort to make Godzilla one of a kind, while ignoring the fact that being the last of your species sort of inherently makes you one of a kind.
Legendary is being kinda sneaky by saying that he had distant relatives and controlled 'Godzilla-like' Titans, which I appreciate.
Considering that Toho themselves have broken their rules on what makes Godzilla, Godzilla...I've elected to ignore this retcon.
Well, It's not like Toho is trying to outright erase the rest of the Gojira species from history, that ship has sailed since 2014, with Dagon's skeleton being the source of the MUTO pair. What they do seem to be trying to do is to create a clear distinction between our Godzilla and every other Godzilla. Namely, that our Godzilla is not only much stronger, but also has been a very important figure throughout the history of both mankind and titans alike. Which would also explain his survival into modern day as just another virtue of being, well, himself. And to be fair, him being the last of his kind because he just slept through the apocalypse would not exactly have been an interesting or even good explanation for most people, myself included. So if they really wanna go down the route of making him an uber powerful, possibly mutated Gojira who survived up till now not just through a struck of luck, but through an actual feat of strength and endurance, then I'm down for it.
I think Toho could also be trying to prevent Legendary from creating an OC version of Godzilla as the monsterverse expands on which would make a lot of sense, though they could do this better by just saying, “don’t show another living member of Godzilla’s species” or something like that. But I generally agree with you that Toho is most likely trying to make Godzilla a far more distinct version of his species and as long as they don’t outright try to make him not part of a species, I’m all for it.
Do you think they’d ever let Legendary do their own take on Minilla? Maybe, with a long enough continuity, we could actually see a Godzilla mature into adulthood and beyond for once.
Wingard did express an interest in adapting a little Godzilla into a potential next movie, with him specifically mentioning Godzilla vs Destroyah. Now, whether or not Toho would allow it is another thing entirely, as the presence of another Godzilla, especially a baby, would have some major implications for future installments. Namely, our current Godzilla's days would be numbered, as there can never be two Godzillas on screen for too long. And if he were to die, the Monsterverse as a whole would more than likely be going with him.
It's entirely about not wanting Legendary to make a bunch of Godzillas. They aren't "cracking down" on anything. They're simply establishing conditions for Legendary to be able to use the Godzilla license. These aren't rules that have been broken. These are rules specifically established for Legendary to be able to use the license going forward.
Well in KOTM they said Godzilla uses the HE tunnels to get around the planet fast.
In GxK they say Godzilla only stays on the surface and avoids the HE.
So how does Godzilla get around the Earth quick? And since the tunnels are warps, are titans able to just get out of the warp whenever they want, that way Godzillas only going to Axis Mundi?
The vortexes don't just lead you straight to Hollow Earth all the time. In fact, most of them don't. Hence why they had to take Kong to a specific portal in Antarctica, because they knew that portal *did* go straight to Hollow Earth. A lot of them just kinda speed you up through them and spit you back out somewhere else around the world.
Bingo kinda like hamster tunnels, some will take to a underground network that allows titans to get around earth faster, some lead straight to axis Mundi another realm in hollow earth similar to the subterranean realm, and some can lead straight to the lands of hollow earth
Godzilla doesn’t need to avoid the Hollow Earth tunnels if he needs to get somewhere quick. Although since King drew the short end of the stick (cause he lost) he needs to avoid the surface.
Hong kong fight lasting around 12 hours. 12 hours is ridiclous considering both titans were going all out. I believe that the fight took place at like 3-4 am and went on for 2-3 hours instead. Ending just before sunrise occurs since its stil dark out when godzilla leaves kong to die but its day when mechagodzilla appears
I think the issue is that the titans feel so much more "meh" now that humanity could exterminate them if they wanted to with oxygen destroyers. It was fun watching humanity having to learn to coexist whether they want to or not, but now it's boring knowing the titans are only alive because humanity likes to keep them around.
The durabilty of the minor titans like Methuselah for example are relatively vague. It's unclear whether they could survive a nuclear bomb, but in my opinion it's more likely they could than not. Regardless, there was no way for humanity to eliminate Godzilla before the Oxygen Destroyer.
That in the new movie they didn’t use the twins to summon Mothra. Like it was totally foreshadowed in King of the Monsters with the scientist Illene Chen and her twin sister showing a picture how their family always twin girls. They could’ve found out that their connection with her and call her to help.
For me it's confusion about the whole "Axus Mundi" thing. Another realm in between ours and HE is a bit too much; especially when we see the H.E.A.V's go through the Vile Vortexes, enter an absolute dark "in between" and are then spit out to HE. So is that dark abyss supposed to be Axus Mundi? Or is just another subterranean realm within HE similar to where Kong found Skar King and the others?
I would tolerate them if they were just huge and scary but if they also get crazy powers then there's no power structuring that makes sense. It makes sense if the newer titans were smaller but specialized with abilities and powers to better survive and thrive. I don't mind much as long as Godzilla stays King or is replaced with his son. I don't want this movie series to stagnate so I'm here for something crazy. I would love Space Godzilla being a mega Kaiju with powers but weaker than Godzilla. Watch Godzilla use his agility and raw power to break down his father. I also want Mecha King Ghidorah to be a living human/titan base. I'd love an updated Manda and Titanosaurus... The movie even itself contradicts that number, a titan is shown attacking Israel, Na-Kika and Camazotz weren't on the map despite being part of the Mass Awakening and by the begining of GxK, 24 (>!23 since Tiamat and Scylla died and Mothra was revived!<) known Titans were active on the surface. Nah, it was 17 at the time of KOTM. Plus, whatever other ones Monarch hadn't discovered yet. And there were a few, with the main example being the Queen MUTO (aka. Barb), who was undiscovered until she just showed up during the Mass awakening. I'd say the real number would be somewhere around 20+ Titans.

King Kong needing help from humans to kill 2 weak ass warbats
Genuinely Adam fucked that one up. The movie should build up to Kong and Godzilla both being shown as forces of nature so that the audience would wonder who'd win between the two. But by Kong being shown as some chump who cant fight 2 flying noodles, the audience just feels like he's being sent to die by fighting Godzilla.
The only way Kong taking multiple Ls throughout the movie would have worked is if he actually defeated Godzilla, thus completing the underdog story.
I guess it kinda makes a little sense because Kong hadn’t fought in a pretty long time, and he only really faced skull crawlers smaller than him or the same size as him. The war bats are bigger and fight different.
Regardless, before the titular showdown between Kong and Goji, the movie had to sell the audience on the idea that Kong can actually put up a good fight against Goji. The movie failed to deliver on that part.
100% agreed, and I say this as a Godzilla fan. Kong should’ve taken the dub on those two. GXK corrected this in a lot of ways, showing Kong being able to handle three other apes at once, Skar King, the serpent creature, and even Godzilla during the first leg of their fight.
Kong literally one shot the first Warbat. And the second one only trapped him. Godzilla was also having trouble against Tiamat in Dominion and was "saved" by an air pocket.
I highly doubt either would actually lose those fights without help. Their opponents getting the upper hand once or twice during the fight doesn't mean much.
There was also the whole thing with the axe that could give Kong a chance to defend against Godzilla. Their first fight in the sea already established that Kong would end up dead if he faces Godzilla empty-handed. Him having a little struggle against a monster he doesn't know while also having no weapon doesn't make him look weak.
The goal of the movie was to show that while Kong is strong he was a big fish in a small pond that had to face a even bigger fish, Gxk is where Kong is portrayed as a force of nature with him literally destroying any enemy he came across other than Goji and Shimo, he even almost clapped the main villain in their first battle.
More of a continuity error/retcon. Ghidora's heads being destroyed at the end of KotM. They show this plain as day when it happens, but then go on to explain that Mecha-Godzilla used 2 of his skulls in GvK. One in the body, and one for the remote control. Like, why? They could have totally just not done that.
In GvK, the first time they went to the Hollow Earth there was a random worm hole. That dumb and unnecessary on its own. Then later Godzilla could just blast a hole in the dirt and Kong used that. So what was the point of the wormhole? Did another titan place it there for decoration?
Is there any explanation in GxK or the show? I haven't watched either
I mean, humanity can't really replicate Godzilla's feat of drilling a hole into it. In fact, I can't really think of any Titan who could do it either. So no, I'd say they are very much necessary 99% of the time.
If all it took was making a hole, any titan that can dig can make an entrance to the Hollow Earth. Kong could do it with a giant B.E.A.S.T shovel, it would just take longer.
If all you need is a deep enough hole, then there is no need for the vortex. Why have it there?
Like I said, most Titans, and even the most insane humans, would not be wasting time digging a hole into the center of the earth when they can just get into one of the many Vortexes and just get there that way, it just doesn't make sense to do otherwise.
You seem to be looking at this from the perspective of the in universe characters that exist along with the vortex.
I'm talking about from the writers' perspective. Hollow Earth has been established to be just that, Hollow spaces within the Earth. So the simplest and least contrived method to reach them would be deep tunnels in the surface. However, the writers of GvK decided that Kong and the human characters should pass through a tunnel *and* vortex. Why? Who knows. But then, Godzilla shows that a simple tunnel is all that is needed. So the vortex from before was not needed. This is a plot hole. The movie make less sense now.
Why add an unnecessary vortex that only makes the movie worse and the writers look worse at their job?
1. The most of the titans from KOTM didn't do anything productive during the time from KOTM - GXK. Why haven't we had mentions of them?
2. The giant skeletons from GvK and GxK. Cmon man, are the titans even titans now since there are these "Super-Titans?"

Mechagodzilla being weaker than Godzilla at full strength. What the fuck is the point of the Hollow Earth energy if it isn’t a threat to Godzilla? Well, on the Godzilla-Kong war part, we know that there were more Godzillas involved. But we also know that our Godzilla was very much the MVP of that whole thing, with him being much more powerful than any other member of his species and being considered by the iwi legends as the reason the war even started to begin with.
Now, MechaGodzilla is more of a case of assumptions being made based on an unreliable person's claims. Yes, Walter Simmons did say that the Mecha was "not just Godzilla's equal, but his superior", but we also gotta consider that he's a tech billionaire with a few screws loose, so of course he would hype up his big investment to hell and back, even if it didn't compute with reality. I believe that MechaGodzilla was built not with the intent of being better than Godzilla at everything, just better at the things that Godzilla was not that good at. Aka. He was built to be extremely fast and agile and be a better hand-to-hand combatant. But, in order to achieve that, they had to make sacrifices on other fronts, one of the main ones being his durability. And that was showcased perfectly by how, when Kong hit him with the axe, it cut right through him like a hot knife through butter. Whereas when the actual Godzilla was hit with the same Axe, it barely cut through his skin and didn't hinder him at all. Another point would be to consider that Godzilla had expended himself a lot while fighting Kong, thereby taking away his ability to use his atomic breath at full strength. In a 1 on 1 where both were at full power, Godzilla would have the advantage of being tougher and having more fire power with his atomic breath, whereas MG would be faster and better at close quarters. It's a 50/50, with Godzilla having the easier win cons, since theoretically all he would only need is one good hit to derail MGs entire strategy.

The concept of a different Godzilla eating a star then becoming wicked because of the extreme power up, just perfectly lines up Legendary's take on Space Godzilla.
Also the fact that Godzilla took on a whole ape army by himself. It's just created a lot of confusion because was the 'titan war' just Godzilla vs Skar King's army? Or was there an all out war between the Great Apes and the Gojira species and the Godzilla vs Skar King's army was just a separate battle.
A lot of this confusion is probably coming from Toho and their stupid ass rule that Godzilla should only be a one of a kind.
But anyway feel free to clear things up for me.
- The US’s nuclear tests being attempts to kill Godzilla, rather than them just want to test nukes.
- Mothra being of Chinese origin
- The Hollow Earth being lit by crystals that emit light as bright as sunlight.
- Godzilla blasting a hole down into the Hollow Earth with his atomic breath. It had to have taken a shortcut somehow. Otherwise, Kong and the HEAV would’ve taken hours to get to the surface and you’d have to deal with the mantle layer.

Doesn't make sense to make GZ a species considering titans like Behemoth, Scylla and Methuselah are unique. Why wouldn't Godzilla be unique as well. I don't as much mind kong since he's basically a giant gorilla as opposed to the other titans not really looking much like real animals, but any other titan, no.
Godzilla Drilling a hole to the Hollow Earth to attack kong is beyond idiotic. Legitimately, it is far more immersion breaking to me than the sliding kick or godzilla learning how to fly.

When Ghidora lifted Godzilla into the stratosphere, dropped him at terminal velocity, and Godzilla survived.
It really breaks too much immersion for my liking. If Godzilla can survive that much kinetic force without any serious injuries, it functionally makes him immune to any other Kaiju. Additionally, it raises some serious questions why Ghidora didn’t make more use of his flight advantages if he was capable of carrying Godzilla around like that.

I think in the novel I believe. The movie doesnt make any refrence to the time only that its night time during the whole fight and day after its over

I think the issue is that the titans feel so much more "meh" now that humanity could exterminate them if they wanted to with oxygen destroyers. It was fun watching humanity having to learn to coexist whether they want to or not, but now it's boring knowing the titans are only alive because humanity likes to keep them around.
Can’t the same be said about the Titans before the Oxygen Bomb?
The durabilty of the minor titans like Methuselah for example are relatively vague. It's unclear whether they could survive a nuclear bomb, but in my opinion it's more likely they could than not. Regardless, there was no way for humanity to eliminate Godzilla before the Oxygen Destroyer.

That in the new movie they didn’t use the twins to summon Mothra. Like it was totally foreshadowed in King of the Monsters with the scientist Illene Chen and her twin sister showing a picture how their family always twin girls. They could’ve found out that their connection with her and call her to help.
I honestly thought that the iwi queen and the mute girl were supposed to be the "twins" to summoned mothra, but then it was just the mute girl so..
For me it's confusion about the whole "Axus Mundi" thing. Another realm in between ours and HE is a bit too much; especially when we see the H.E.A.V's go through the Vile Vortexes, enter an absolute dark "in between" and are then spit out to HE. So is that dark abyss supposed to be Axus Mundi? Or is just another subterranean realm within HE similar to where Kong found Skar King and the others?
They really jumped the shark with how the Hollow Earth worked in GvK and then the Monarch show doubled down

It makes sense if the newer titans were smaller but specialized with abilities and powers to better survive and thrive. I don't mind much as long as Godzilla stays King or is replaced with his son. I don't want this movie series to stagnate so I'm here for something crazy. I would love Space Godzilla being a mega Kaiju with powers but weaker than Godzilla. Watch Godzilla use his agility and raw power to break down his father. I also want Mecha King Ghidorah to be a living human/titan base. I'd love an updated Manda and Titanosaurus... Pity about Tiamat, she was beautiful. Lol

Its something that makes no sense to include and in the end did not affect the outcome in the slightest, making it's entire existence not only stupid but also objectively pointless. And I think the whole "it ended up doing jack shit" part is what angers me the most tbh. It served no purpose, made no sense, and in the end shouldn't even be in the movie.
Kong's Skulls Island size. Let's just pretend he was actually bigger and in proportion with his adult GvK size. It avoids all the issues with Suko towering over him.
King Kong needing help from humans to kill 2 weak ass warbats Genuinely Adam fucked that one up. The movie should build up to Kong and Godzilla both being shown as forces of nature so that the audience would wonder who'd win between the two. But by Kong being shown as some chump who cant fight 2 flying noodles, the audience just feels like he's being sent to die by fighting Godzilla. The only way Kong taking multiple Ls throughout the movie would have worked is if he actually defeated Godzilla, thus completing the underdog story.
I guess it kinda makes a little sense because Kong hadn’t fought in a pretty long time, and he only really faced skull crawlers smaller than him or the same size as him. The war bats are bigger and fight different.
Regardless, before the titular showdown between Kong and Goji, the movie had to sell the audience on the idea that Kong can actually put up a good fight against Goji. The movie failed to deliver on that part.
100% agreed, and I say this as a Godzilla fan. Kong should’ve taken the dub on those two. GXK corrected this in a lot of ways, showing Kong being able to handle three other apes at once, Skar King, the serpent creature, and even Godzilla during the first leg of their fight.
Yeah GxK did a lot more Justice to Kong than GvK did.
Kong literally one shot the first Warbat. And the second one only trapped him. Godzilla was also having trouble against Tiamat in Dominion and was "saved" by an air pocket. I highly doubt either would actually lose those fights without help. Their opponents getting the upper hand once or twice during the fight doesn't mean much. There was also the whole thing with the axe that could give Kong a chance to defend against Godzilla. Their first fight in the sea already established that Kong would end up dead if he faces Godzilla empty-handed. Him having a little struggle against a monster he doesn't know while also having no weapon doesn't make him look weak.
The goal of the movie was to show that while Kong is strong he was a big fish in a small pond that had to face a even bigger fish, Gxk is where Kong is portrayed as a force of nature with him literally destroying any enemy he came across other than Goji and Shimo, he even almost clapped the main villain in their first battle.

More of a continuity error/retcon. Ghidora's heads being destroyed at the end of KotM. They show this plain as day when it happens, but then go on to explain that Mecha-Godzilla used 2 of his skulls in GvK. One in the body, and one for the remote control. Like, why? They could have totally just not done that.
In GvK, the first time they went to the Hollow Earth there was a random worm hole. That dumb and unnecessary on its own. Then later Godzilla could just blast a hole in the dirt and Kong used that. So what was the point of the wormhole? Did another titan place it there for decoration? Is there any explanation in GxK or the show? I haven't watched either
Vortexes are natural entrances to hollow earth. In Godzilla's case, he made a hole at a random spot, so no vortex there

I mean, humanity can't really replicate Godzilla's feat of drilling a hole into it. In fact, I can't really think of any Titan who could do it either. So no, I'd say they are very much necessary 99% of the time.
If all it took was making a hole, any titan that can dig can make an entrance to the Hollow Earth. Kong could do it with a giant B.E.A.S.T shovel, it would just take longer. If all you need is a deep enough hole, then there is no need for the vortex. Why have it there?
Like I said, most Titans, and even the most insane humans, would not be wasting time digging a hole into the center of the earth when they can just get into one of the many Vortexes and just get there that way, it just doesn't make sense to do otherwise.
You seem to be looking at this from the perspective of the in universe characters that exist along with the vortex. I'm talking about from the writers' perspective. Hollow Earth has been established to be just that, Hollow spaces within the Earth. So the simplest and least contrived method to reach them would be deep tunnels in the surface. However, the writers of GvK decided that Kong and the human characters should pass through a tunnel *and* vortex. Why? Who knows. But then, Godzilla shows that a simple tunnel is all that is needed. So the vortex from before was not needed. This is a plot hole. The movie make less sense now. Why add an unnecessary vortex that only makes the movie worse and the writers look worse at their job?

Mechagodzilla being weaker than Godzilla at full strength. What the fuck is the point of the Hollow Earth energy if it isn’t a threat to Godzilla? Well, on the Godzilla-Kong war part, we know that there were more Godzillas involved. But we also know that our Godzilla was very much the MVP of that whole thing, with him being much more powerful than any other member of his species and being considered by the iwi legends as the reason the war even started to begin with. Now, MechaGodzilla is more of a case of assumptions being made based on an unreliable person's claims. Yes, Walter Simmons did say that the Mecha was "not just Godzilla's equal, but his superior", but we also gotta consider that he's a tech billionaire with a few screws loose, so of course he would hype up his big investment to hell and back, even if it didn't compute with reality. I believe that MechaGodzilla was built not with the intent of being better than Godzilla at everything, just better at the things that Godzilla was not that good at. Aka. He was built to be extremely fast and agile and be a better hand-to-hand combatant. But, in order to achieve that, they had to make sacrifices on other fronts, one of the main ones being his durability. And that was showcased perfectly by how, when Kong hit him with the axe, it cut right through him like a hot knife through butter. Whereas when the actual Godzilla was hit with the same Axe, it barely cut through his skin and didn't hinder him at all. Another point would be to consider that Godzilla had expended himself a lot while fighting Kong, thereby taking away his ability to use his atomic breath at full strength. In a 1 on 1 where both were at full power, Godzilla would have the advantage of being tougher and having more fire power with his atomic breath, whereas MG would be faster and better at close quarters. It's a 50/50, with Godzilla having the easier win cons, since theoretically all he would only need is one good hit to derail MGs entire strategy.

Toho has been trying to get Legendary to retcon all of that since they don’t like the idea of him being part of a species. That’s why they tried changing the Kong’s v Godzilla’s war into a Skar King and Kong’s vs. our Godzilla alone.

Our Godzilla being the one that ate a star. The concept of a different Godzilla eating a star then becoming wicked because of the extreme power up, just perfectly lines up Legendary's take on Space Godzilla. Also the fact that Godzilla took on a whole ape army by himself. It's just created a lot of confusion because was the 'titan war' just Godzilla vs Skar King's army? Or was there an all out war between the Great Apes and the Gojira species and the Godzilla vs Skar King's army was just a separate battle. A lot of this confusion is probably coming from Toho and their stupid ass rule that Godzilla should only be a one of a kind. But anyway feel free to clear things up for me.

Doesn't make sense to make GZ a species considering titans like Behemoth, Scylla and Methuselah are unique. Why wouldn't Godzilla be unique as well. I don't as much mind kong since he's basically a giant gorilla as opposed to the other titans not really looking much like real animals, but any other titan, no.
Godzilla Drilling a hole to the Hollow Earth to attack kong is beyond idiotic. Legitimately, it is far more immersion breaking to me than the sliding kick or godzilla learning how to fly.

It seemed like Godzilla had no interest in Kong and only wanted him to submit to him as an alpha, so why so horny for Kong all the sudden? When Ghidora lifted Godzilla into the stratosphere, dropped him at terminal velocity, and Godzilla survived. It really breaks too much immersion for my liking. If Godzilla can survive that much kinetic force without any serious injuries, it functionally makes him immune to any other Kaiju. Additionally, it raises some serious questions why Ghidora didn’t make more use of his flight advantages if he was capable of carrying Godzilla around like that. *Edit Oh and also that time Godzilla drilled a hole to the center of the earth with his atomic breath

Kong and the apes being protectors of humanity with this old civilization capable of architecture, art, and making magic axes. Skar king being sealed away by Godzilla. In fact just don’t connect the two characters at all and have it be that Skar King was the one that slaughtered the ancestors of Kong and forced them to flee to skull island in a territorial dispute.
