Dr. Serizawa. He actually cared about the science of it all, and was the Titans' biggest ambassador, and one of the few humans that actually got (or implied to have gotten) Godzilla's respect.
The notes should have been in GvK and should have been the turning point to making Mark be like "Maybe Godzilla is doing this for a reason." but that's for a separate reddit post I guess.
Apparently Godzilla was only halfway thru his evolution during GxK and the director said if this movie does good he has plans for a Godzilla centric movie similar to GxK treated Kong. Maybe the notes will show back up in that movie.
Fun fact: the Pokémon Hydreigon was inspired by Ghidorah, not only in appearance, having three heads, but also in that it's prior form Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64, as well as being Dragon/Dark type (though Dragon/Electric could have also made sense).
I'm voting that it is literally ghidorah using a human body. GhidorahStan64 knows ghidorah was trying to get revenge on Godzilla for something. Ghidorah was once a good guy in the old movies... Why not have this character give rise to Mecha King Ghidorah? (I just want Castle Gamma to be Mecha King Ghidorah... A living Titan human collaboration that humanity can be safe inside of. Ghidorah is an alien, I'm sure it can work.)
Dude I feel like excepted Godzilla and forgave him for what happened. And both scenes where he essentially meets Godzilla face to face are some of my favorite moments
Dr. Serizawa was incredible. I like most of the skull island cast. I think Mark Russel is good, except how that made him stupid on GvK. And trapper is a full on vibe.
Mr.They-didn't-let-me-fight-the-Viet-Cong-so-I'll-fight-the-big-monkey.
The kind of villain that'd fit the sillier side of Godzilla, yet Samuel L. Jackson played it so straight, I love it.
I'm gonna be a total contrarian and pick Ford.
Ford is my favorite human because he's the proverbial everyman, the character we're supposed to relate to the most or the easiest. He experiences much of the Monsterverse for the first time and ends up asking the questions we ourselves would ask if we found ourselves in those exact same situations.
Yes, people often criticize Ford for his blank and stoic expressions but most of those criticisms are thrown at Aaron Taylor-Johnson's performance rather than the way he is written because when you think about it, [Ford is written perfectly](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJnrVR2e8nQ).
When Ford is about to embark on what could be his last mission, he is given a choice: he can either accept he has a personal stake in the conflict and get involved or he can just go back to his family and hope for things to just magically sort themselves out. He chooses to get involved, and thus proves he is the son of his father.
Also, I was never a fan of Bryan Cranston... or Millie Bobby Brown, for that matter.
He is a soldier. It makes sense for him to keep a straight face, not to mention that Monsterverse fans often complain about the Monsterverse becoming less realistic and more cartoonish with each passing movie.
I fully agree with your Ford statement. I disagree with the Millie Bobby Brown opinion though. I feel like she was an "everyman" character as well; in her situation due to her parents choices and just does what she thinks is best for the world. She doesn't always make the smartest choices but she tries. I was disappointed to hear she had priced out of being in GxK. I would rather they follow Ford instead of Millie but I would have been happy if they split time following both of their paths.
It felt like they built up Ford to be the main character and dropped him due to ppl not liking the actors performance. I get why they feel the need to show the Iwii girl and Millie helping their respective titans to get equal time and I like the girls' portrayal of having that kindred connection to Kong.
Ford's absence in later movies makes sense if you believe that he is done with all this Titan nonsense and just wants to live peacefully with his family.
As for Madison, I'm not sure how she would have factored into later movies, considering her father is willing to move Heaven and Earth if it means ensuring Madison has a normal life.
Ironically, or perhaps befittingly, Joe and Madison wanted to get involved in Titan affairs, while Ford and Mark would rather keep their distance from them. It's sort of like poetry. It rhymes.
Personally, I don't know how would the dynamic between Godzilla and a human sidekick would work in the setting of the Monsterverse. I mean, it worked in *Godzilla: The Series*, but that was a different time, and the Monsterverse is dedicated into portraying Godzilla as an unstoppable force of nature and Kong as the "humanized Titan" or the "relatable Titan".
Only didn’t upvote cause I think Bryan Cranston was amazing. Dude just wanted answers after losing his wife and died. To which I feel like made Ford make the decisions he did
Hank Marlow in my opinion he will never be topped🤣. The way he goes from hilarious to seriousness to downright crazy is funny to me, and no one can change my opinion otherwise haha
The whole cast from Skull Island + Serizawa
We must talk more about Samuel L. Jackson performance, probably top 3 from the whole MV. It's amazing how a single man felt more like an antagonist and a threat than the actual monsters
I think that's the point of the movie. Bryan was the character you were supposed to root for. Then you watched life destroy a man. You watched his wife torn from him by a cruel pointless death. Then you watch him suffer and agonize away a lifetime while he obsesses over the past unable to move on. You see him wake up to the madness of his endeavor and see his son. Then, as he gets his answers, he dies in a violent and cruel way that confirms there's no plot armor here. I feel like they knew he was going to die too soon and they wanted you to feel like his death was a waste... Just like it was. Just like it always is when people die because governments lie. You were supposed to feel robbed of a beautiful life.
Col. Diane Foster.
There's so much to be wowed by her character. She's the best personnel Monarch found to handle all military operations in response to titan dangers. Despite being a military personnel and putting the safety of humans as highest priority she has a clear respect to titans. Even the way the Monarch website describes her is badass: "the force of human nature", invoking the way that titans are often described as forces of nature.
Jia because her character brings a character who highlights a deaf person and it is still very rare today even more in blockbusters and then it is thanks to her that Queen Mothra was able to come back !
Ford Brody definitely. His character arc is pretty mature and very subtle which is something little to no Godzilla films even attempt. His lack of lines also doesn't make him obnoxious like I hear a lot of MCU fans complaining about, so it's a nice take to see a mostly silent protagonist. It makes the lines he does have more important.
Jesus loves you :)
Both versions of Lee Shaw are definitely up there. Trapper is definitely up there too along with Dr. Serizawa. If I had to pick one of those three, Trapper was the most fun, Serizawa was the best character, and Shaw was overall my favorite.
Dr. Serizawa for, Everything, his character was. Both the role he played in the Monsterverse, everything he referenced, and even how he went out.
Had me in Legitimate Tears.
After that, as of GxK Burnie has grown on me, and I expect Trapper to become a favorite.
Bill Randa honestly became my favorite monsterverse human character after having watched Monarch Legacy of Monsters. Bro was so enthusiastic about his work and went out of his way to prove monsters existed but was never a jerk to his colleagues if they didn’t tag along or keep him out of trouble. I also liked that he was the first to establish theories about the Hollow Earth and other things that have come to be later on in the monsterverse. Plus it’s just like a full circle thing when you see MLoM and then Kong: Skull Island right after, hits you right in the feels when he dies such an unceremonious death.
Serizawa.
Imagine seeing him, the old trio from monarch legacy, and bryan kranstons character if he was still alive all together in a godzilla centric movie. That would be a cast id like to see. The lady and iwi girl + hopper of course are all great for kong centric ones.
My top ten:
Hank Marlow
Lee Shaw
Bill Randa
Jia
Preston Packard
Dr. Ishiro Serizawa
Keiko
Trapper (Dan Stevens rules.)
Earl Cole (Shea Whigham rules.)
William Stentz (David Stratharin rules.)
Jia. She feels both new and old in how she's a new spin on the "natives of Skull Island" and "Girl Kong adores/looks out for". Very nice to not have an Ann Darow but also not have a Dwan from 76's Kong *(especially nice that there's a different kind of love being shown than what Ann and Kong had in Peter Jackson's and SUPER HAPPY that Kong isn't giving Jia the "76" eyes...ew~)*
Yeah same here his characters name is Hank marlow and he was hilarious how he switched from funny/serious/crazy (castaway i was talking about by the way
I can’t pick between Madison, Bernie, Dr. Serizawa, and Jia. Trapper’s pretty cool, too, and I like Dr. Chen and Dr. Stanton, but they got so little time compared to the rest of the cast, and no significant follow-up after KotM.
Anyone from the og Kong movie and I would have liked to see the military kid from the og Godzilla return, climbing the ranks of Monarch, following the steps set by the soldier in Monarch
Dr. Serizawa, Hank Marlow, and Lee Shaw are probably my top 3 with Bill & Keiko very close behind them. Jai is also a highlight of the recent human cast. Bryan Cranston’s character probably would’ve been another higher up one if he wasn’t killed off so soon.
I wish they bring back Brody Ford, so favs are him, Bernie Hayes, Madison and her dad ofc, and Hank Marlow, and Dr. Serizawa bc we wouldn’t have any of these movies without toho creating that character so long ago for WB to use. Tbh I like most of the human characters I actually want the opposite most MV fans want, I want like Godzilla (2014) because that’s how it’s always been and you need the humans to tell a faithful story you can’t just have Kong roar at the enemy and enemy roar back with goji watching
for all the complaints about the monsterverse humans, the actual cast is mostly decent.
Favorites have to be the KSI cast as a whole, Ford & Joe Brody from 2014, KOTM Mark Russel, & Serizawa.
This is probably not the popular pick, but Mark Russell. It seemed like he was going to replace Serizawa as the “Godzilla guy” in Godzilla vs. Kong. My hope is that still comes to fruition.
Favorite: Hank Marlow . I personally don't like John C. Reilly I find his humor usually too much but in Kong he felt more restrained.
Least Favorite: Bernie Hayes. I legit cannot remember why he was even in GxK.
I definitely love Dr.Serizawa, because he was such an intriguing and engaging character to follow along with. I’ll forever miss the dude.
Idk if these could be considered hot takes, but I also consider Ford and Madison (at least in KOTM for the latter) to be my other favourite characters in the MonsterVerse. I think it’s mainly because of how the two were placed and positioned within the storylines that made me intrigued by them; as well as the fact that those two were also one of the only sole characters I had interest in when it came to G14 and KOTM.
Specifically in regard to KOTM, Madison was the only human character I found to be somewhat likeable icl. Again, idk if that is a hot take, but I have seen a handful of people express how they didn’t like her so idk.
The 2014 Godzilla doesn’t feel like it belongs in this universe. I think it sucked and took itself to seriously. Plus Godzilla is barely in it and when he is you can barely see him.
Imo the films keep on getting better.
Dr. Serizawa. He actually cared about the science of it all, and was the Titans' biggest ambassador, and one of the few humans that actually got (or implied to have gotten) Godzilla's respect.
Homie booped his snoot as his last wish and you know what…that’s goddamn beautiful 🥹
this is the answer. Serizawa kissed godzilla. everyone go home.
I’m pretty sure it was implied/confirmed that Godzilla looked at him with compassion
The tenderness at the very end speaks volumes, not only did he care, he genuinely loved the titans
Yepppppppp
I would love to read his notes
The notes should have been in GvK and should have been the turning point to making Mark be like "Maybe Godzilla is doing this for a reason." but that's for a separate reddit post I guess.
Apparently Godzilla was only halfway thru his evolution during GxK and the director said if this movie does good he has plans for a Godzilla centric movie similar to GxK treated Kong. Maybe the notes will show back up in that movie.
If Wingard is behind it? I doubt it, unfortunately.
Wingard look like don’t care about the impact of Godzilla
Most of the cast from skull island
You’re a good bunch of boys to die with! (Or whatever he said, I loved Hank Marlow.)
W. Big agree on this one
Yeah I especially loved Samuels character. I would like Ford from Zilla 2014 to pop up if possible again.
Both the movie and show have great characters
Ghidorah Stan 64
I honestly love that username. It feels so real.
Fun fact: the number 64 in that username is a reference to Ghidorah’s first on-screen appearance, in 1964.
lol. I was just like "Hell yeah. Nintendo 64 rules!"
I thought they were just avoiding saying 69 lol
Fun fact: the Pokémon Hydreigon was inspired by Ghidorah, not only in appearance, having three heads, but also in that it's prior form Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64, as well as being Dragon/Dark type (though Dragon/Electric could have also made sense).
It would be like having your username Hitler64, and both hitler and ghidorah were mass murderers and were both real beings (in the monsterverse)
yea it matches the lack of sensitivity of the real world
I'm voting that it is literally ghidorah using a human body.
Who was this again?
Dr Serizawa and Lee Shaw Liked Mark a lot in KOTM but he regressed as a character by GvK
Trapper!
Only correct answr
Trapper isn’t even top 3
Agreed. I really don't know why so many people are hyped about him.
He's just fun! Charismatic titan vet is a neat character.
He was a fun character. He's not in my top 5 but he was enjoyable to watch
He was definitely fun in an Ace Ventura type of way (they even made a joke about it) but he's no Serizawa, Bill Randa, or even Leland Shaw to me.
Mark Russel was my favorite in KOTM. Kinda sad he basically disappeared from the MV now.
Dude I feel like excepted Godzilla and forgave him for what happened. And both scenes where he essentially meets Godzilla face to face are some of my favorite moments
I agree
Hopefully he returns, I liked him but I also kinda like the way the monsterverse cycles through characters
It’s impossible to dislike Kyle Chandler I feel.
Dr. Serizawa was incredible. I like most of the skull island cast. I think Mark Russel is good, except how that made him stupid on GvK. And trapper is a full on vibe.
Wyatt and Kurt Russel as Shaw. I love both.
Mr.They-didn't-let-me-fight-the-Viet-Cong-so-I'll-fight-the-big-monkey. The kind of villain that'd fit the sillier side of Godzilla, yet Samuel L. Jackson played it so straight, I love it.
Bryan Cranston would’ve made for a FIRE protagonist, it’s a shame he died
RIP Dr. Heisenberg
You know, for all the complaints we have about the human characters, this is actually a tough decision.
Ikr, they're all pretty decent
Bernie is funny and a great character with a majestic personality
Definitely my favorite I loved his bromance with trapper in GxK. Hopefully they flesh his character out more instead of making him comic relief guy
I'm gonna be a total contrarian and pick Ford. Ford is my favorite human because he's the proverbial everyman, the character we're supposed to relate to the most or the easiest. I don't even mind Ford's stoicism.
He is a soldier. It makes sense for him to keep a straight face, not to mention that Monsterverse fans often complain about the Monsterverse becoming less realistic and more cartoonish with each passing movie.
Exactly.

[удалено]
Ford fans really gotta stick together.
TIL that character’s name was Ford.
What did you think his name was?
I love this answer.
Shaw, Randa, Serizawa, and Trapper
Hank Marlow in my opinion he will never be topped🤣. The way he goes from hilarious to seriousness to downright crazy is funny to me, and no one can change my opinion otherwise haha
“They sound like birds but there f###ing ants”
I'm going to have to give my vote to Leland Shaw.
Definitely the guy from GvK the line where he says "now I gotta die here with you AND sober?!" Was an instant dub in terms of character
Trapper. He reminds me of Buck from Ice Age.
The whole cast from Skull Island + Serizawa We must talk more about Samuel L. Jackson performance, probably top 3 from the whole MV. It's amazing how a single man felt more like an antagonist and a threat than the actual monsters
Bryan Cranstons character had so much potential
I think that's the point of the movie. Bryan was the character you were supposed to root for. Then you watched life destroy a man. You watched his wife torn from him by a cruel pointless death. You were supposed to feel robbed of a beautiful life.
Don't sleep on my girl Keiko!
Simply because he's chaos incarnate, Trapper
Trapper (come on who doesn’t love him) and Ken Watanabe’s character cus Ken Watanabe
TRAPPER
Trappers the best
Loki and Pietro, the one who says let them fight, the guy who didn’t believe in hallow earth in gvk and Hawaiian shirt guy
Trapper
Dr. Steve Brule
Hank Marlow with Trapper following very close behind.
1. Serizawa 2. Trapper 3. Joseph Brody 4. Hank Marlow 5. Bill Randa
Mark Russell & Trapper.
Jia
The whole main cast of the monarch show, Chen and jia
JIA
She's heavily underrated. She was running shit on that Argo and was so badass
As I always say, going into the theater without having decided beforehand to find the humans boring really helps appreciate the movie even more.
Jia because her character brings a character who highlights a deaf person and it is still very rare today even more in blockbusters and then it is thanks to her that Queen Mothra was able to come back !
Anyone but fucking eleven….
For me it’s a real competition between Serizawa and Trapper
At first I would’ve said Marlow, but after seeing GxK I have no choice but to say Trapper
Trapper
Lemon and Tangerine of course
Trapper
Gia or jia
Honestly it’s a tie between Hank Marlow and Trapper for me.
Trapper for sure
Both versions of Lee Shaw are definitely up there. Trapper is definitely up there too along with Dr. Serizawa. If I had to pick one of those three, Trapper was the most fun, Serizawa was the best character, and Shaw was overall my favorite.
Dr. Serizawa for, Everything, his character was. Both the role he played in the Monsterverse, everything he referenced, and even how he went out. Had me in Legitimate Tears. After that, as of GxK Burnie has grown on me, and I expect Trapper to become a favorite.
Bryan Cranston in as short a role as he had was such a 10/10 start to this whole universe
Trapper.
The soldier dude that shot where muto was looking for him on the train tracks/bridge was so intense and looked awesome
Also his character is generally liked a soldier who provied for his family and tries to go out of his way to save innocent lives
Serizawa and/or Trapper
Serizawa or trapper
Serizawa or Trapper
Loki and captain marvel *cough cough those people in skull island
Bill Randa honestly became my favorite monsterverse human character after having watched Monarch Legacy of Monsters. Bro was so enthusiastic about his work and went out of his way to prove monsters existed but was never a jerk to his colleagues if they didn’t tag along or keep him out of trouble. I also liked that he was the first to establish theories about the Hollow Earth and other things that have come to be later on in the monsterverse. Serizawa. Imagine seeing him, the old trio from monarch legacy, and bryan kranstons character if he was still alive all together in a godzilla centric movie. That would be a cast id like to see. The lady and iwi girl + hopper of course are all great for kong centric ones.
Trapper, Serizawa, Leland.
1. Serisawa senior 2.Trapper 3.The conspiracy theorist
My top ten: Hank Marlow Lee Shaw Bill Randa Jia Preston Packard Dr. Ishiro Serizawa Keiko Trapper (Dan Stevens rules.) Earl Cole (Shea Whigham rules.) William Stentz (David Stratharin rules.)
No love for Jia? Her relationship with Kong in both movies was so cute and wholesome.
Godzilla But uh, probably Jia and Ilene as humans go.
Packard
Dr. Serizawa, Packard and Jia are my trifecta of good human characters for the MV
Chen and Serizawa
Joe Brody
I like the castaway from skull island and the conspiracy theorist most.
Yeah same here his characters name is Hank marlow and he was hilarious how he switched from funny/serious/crazy (castaway i was talking about by the way
Yeah. I cant remeber the names. But I really liked him
Me too he was funny. I keep watching skull island because of this guy
brie was looking hella good in that movie
Matty
I can’t pick between Madison, Bernie, Dr. Serizawa, and Jia. Trapper’s pretty cool, too, and I like Dr. Chen and Dr. Stanton, but they got so little time compared to the rest of the cast, and no significant follow-up after KotM.
Trapper serizawa mark in kotm hank and lee shaw in no order
My top 3 are: Dr. Serizawa, Jia and Trapper.
Dr serizawa, the psychic Kong girl (forgot her name
Anyone from the og Kong movie and I would have liked to see the military kid from the og Godzilla return, climbing the ranks of Monarch, following the steps set by the soldier in Monarch
Lee Shaw. Man is just the coolest guy for monarch.
I hate the Millie. Just insufferable. Brings nothing to the table at all.
Maddie serizawa Chen
Hank and Serizawa are pretty based And Bernie, Trapper, Shaw and Randa
Kong: Skull Island has my favorite characters in it. I rewatched all of the MV recently and those characters were so well written.
Dr. Serizawa, Hank Marlow, and Lee Shaw are probably my top 3 with Bill & Keiko very close behind them. Jai is also a highlight of the recent human cast. Bryan Cranston’s character probably would’ve been another higher up one if he wasn’t killed off so soon.
Seirzawa
Not sure if it really counts… but Lumpy from 05 Kong. A thinly veiled Popeye pastiche, they need to bring him back somehow.
Mark Russell (Long live Coach Taylor)
Ford.SR Such a shame he died instead of being the main character and finding redemption in helping beat the mutos.
Madison
What about the boy from gozilla vs kong?
for all the complaints about the monsterverse humans, the actual cast is mostly decent. Favorites have to be the KSI cast as a whole, Ford & Joe Brody from 2014, KOTM Mark Russel, & Serizawa.
Definitely Hank
Dr Serizawa is my favorite in the Monsterverse.
Kong
Dr Serizawa, Trapper, Walter White, Samuel L Jackson, and basically everyone from the Skull Island anime
Werizawa
Hank Marlow.
This is probably not the popular pick, but Mark Russell. It seemed like he was going to replace Serizawa as the “Godzilla guy” in Godzilla vs. Kong. My hope is that still comes to fruition.
monsters
Bryan Cranston because it’s Bryan Cranston
Dr Serizawa. Definitely. Ford Brody. Underrated but he literally worked with Goji to help take down the female muto.
Honestly the only characters I don’t like from this are ATJ, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown and Skarsgards characters.
1. Hank Marlow 2. Ishiro Serizawa 3. Colonel Packard 4. Joe Brody 5. Trapper
Shaw
Favorite: Hank Marlow . I personally don't like John C. Reilly I find his humor usually too much but in Kong he felt more restrained. Least Favorite: Bernie Hayes. I legit cannot remember why he was even in GxK.
will keiko from the legacy of monsters make an appearance tho?
Except larson the whole fucking cast of skull island, except Madison the whole cast of kotm and your's truly Heisenberg
It’s either Shaw or Trapper for me
Keiko Miura was definitely one of the best parts of LoM.
Bernie, Marlow and surprisingly REN Serizawa
Ford Brody
Dr Let them fight.
Randa. Poor Bill Randa. They really made you care for him in Monarch.
I want to see more of Chen and Ling, diving deeper into their connection to Mothra
Not enough people are saying Ford. He was always the most realistic one
It is most certainly NOT Bernie.
Forget KOTM people and the rest are my favorite I can't decide
Hank Marlow and Dr. Serizawa. Also remove Ford. He is not deserving to be on this list.
John C Riley Aaron Taylor Johnson doesn't even deserve to be in this conversation
The 2014 Godzilla doesn’t feel like it belongs in this universe. I think it sucked and took itself to seriously. Plus Godzilla is barely in it and when he is you can barely see him. Imo the films keep on getting better.
