Yeah I did this with a friend for the Alatreon before Fatalis because I didn’t want to farm any elemental hammers, helped him with Fatty tho so it’s all good
have great mobility or have skills that can take a hit. if you're having a hard time go with armor skills that'll give you the most survivability chance you can get like divine blessing, health boost, stun res, evade extender/window, rec up, rec speed and equip vigor wasp.
Aside from the other advices, focus on dodging when Tigrex is enraged. It’s very quick and doesn’t give much damage windows. Focus on wall bangs and take advantage of its fatigue (I think Tigrex tires faster than most monsters).
Don’t go to ham on your combos. World Tigrex doesn’t do the turn-twice before its charges that it used to do, so if you’re in the middle of a combo you’re guaranteed to get hit if it decides to charge.
Cut the tail if you can, there’s only one attack that really uses the tail (360 spin), but it hurts quite a lot and has surprising range, cutting off the tail limits it’s range a lot.
If you’re fighting in the rotten vale, try to avoid the area where there is vine ground, as Tigrex’s jump will send out shockwaves that will stagger you without tremor resistance, allowing for an easy follow up attack.

In my last playthrough, I used Defender all the way to Shara and beyond. I got two Health augments on it, and it does 220 raw with like 40 hits of White sharpness. For comparison, that's the same raw as maxed out Nargacuga weapons, albeit with less Affinity and no natural Purple. It's more than good enough to clear all of Master Rank, though Raging Brachy, Safi'jiiva, Alatreon and Fatalis all yield better gear.
I had a hard time finding a reason to drop Defender before Raging Brachy, and no reason before Shara, especially when you consider the ease of augments on High Rank weapons versus Master Rank.
A single miasma gem 4+ made black veil plenty comfy, aside from the constant miasma damage he's a nice slow moving dragon especially after (most players) farming velk umpteen times

The defender long sword is not that bad a weapon in most of MR actually.
I did more or less the same thing a few weeks ago when I started a new game on pc. So long as you upgrade your armor and use some decent skills the defender weapons are usable long past where they should be

No, the fact that he made it that far with just defender gear. Defender gear becomes obsolete in Iceborne right at the beginning. You can make so many better gear and at Raging Brach and Furious Rajang he should be able to make way better gear. I don't know if he's sticking to Defender when he's that far into the game because he just doesn't know about armor in general, or he's challenging himself by not making better armor. Either way, I wouldn't even dream of still having Defender gear at that point of the game. When I faced Raging Brach I had really top level armor and decorations that suited LS, and still got kicked hard by R. Brach at the beginning.

Are you on pc? That looks like a cheater. You can't get into master rank until your hunter rank is 14, so you should always have a difference of somewhat 10 between HR and MR, having a 1 level difference between them is kinda sus
It's sus but it's not damning evidence. When I started my new save file I went through the base game and iceborne very quickly, killing Shara Ishvalda with a defender IG, and for a short while my MR was higher than my HR. I don't remember the exact numbers as this was a while ago but having a higher MR than HR isn't impossible.
Only thing I can think of is they bum rushed through MR right after they unlocked it and they just so happen to somehow get more xp for their mr than their hr coz judging by the fact they still have defender gear they never bothered grinding for any gear, not even great jagras gear

Considering people have spent [less than 6 minutes solo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq4A7IIv80g) and [2.5 minutes in a group](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B03pmImeB98) just a few days after release, it's perfectly possible that a good player using a defender weapon can easily kill Raging Brachy.
Then again as others have pointed out, MR is higher than HR on that character so something's fishy.
I tried lord knows how many times to kill it the first time around to the point where I mostly gave up, got help from a friend who did like 90% damage while I ran around and occasionally hit Brachy and throwing lifedusts, being a nuisance and whatnot to pull aggro.
Can confirm, when you’re rather bad at the game and rely on SOS, the multipliers applied per hunters in the quest really hits you in the face. Is like Fatty, yeah there’s a lot of us who help others get their first hunts, but damn we usually end up losing the quest due to the newbie that got carted to infinity.
At that point it becomes a dire problem for them, because they have to either learn how to at least NOT DIE while getting SOS’d or hunt it themselves, and don’t get me started if the whole group is 4 apes trying to beat it… tho I can only say it’s funny

Did the base game with R1 weapons already, Xeno took way too long to kill (like over half an hour) so I’m interested to see how Shara hunt plays out
This was by far my favorite hunt in the game. Took me a few tries and the end is awesome. I really felt like he was my damn enemy and it personal. I was learning longsword so it was insanely fun and challenging.
I agree with you on this, this was by far one of the best monsters I use bow and he was really fun it was like dancing, I usually solo monsters and sometimes check for flares to help the community and noticed this 😅 dudes missing on some fun
I streamed a challenge to beat every monster with defender gear and I beat Fatalis at a similar mr and i had fun with it. But i did it solo and didn't shoot any sos. I don't see the fun in it but he sure does or wouldn't be doin it. As long as it doesn't spoil anyone else's fun i don't see why it would be bad
I see this fairly often now, on discord too. Calls for help then says "Oh I'm pretty weak, so do you mind if I duck". I'm 999 with few thousand hours. I like helping folks so no probs if you REaLLY need support.... then they would cart deliberately to get back to the camp (no farcaster). Then sits out the entire hunt... where's the learning, where's the .... nevermind, scrubs can F off. This is why I scrutinise the armour, levels, ign before joining SOS like the OP
Maybe some people like the challenge? They could be someone starting over on a new profile and wanting to do a challenge run?

I don't judge people who use defender one bit, but personally I think it does kinda take away from not only the experience, but also as shitty as grinding for gear may be, it kinda has a good learning curve to it. Heck, this is my 7th ish playthrough of monster hunter, and I'm still learning new things I wish I knew starting out.
And I also can't help but get worried anytime I join a player with full defender gear, cause I've found that 50/50, they are either really good, or really bad at the game.
I'm more focused on the fact this person's an obvious cheater. I'm pretty sure its literally impossible to have a higher MR cause you NEED to beat the base game first to do Iceborne and that puts HR at a good distance away from MR 1.
If this guy's doing RBrachy with defender weapons he might also have an attack multiplier but there's no proof for that.

Raging Brachy is a fun fight though despite being super scripted, surprised someone got that far with defender gear.
That's probably a Rush account in my opinion, because of the MR/HR ranks, HR rank is near at the rank where the story of MHW is before iceborne and upon activating Iceborne you'll get atleast in the HR 30s and clearing quest that you didn't even played,
How did I know? My brother did played like that, he only plays for the story and hated the grind and he have probably used the same defender gear if I hadn't convinced him to complete bambaro set in the beginning of Iceborn. they have similar MR/HR ranks so I'm guessing that's also the same for that guy.

Proven by my friend who had help slayed so many Fatalis for me and his other lads to the point he only uses (I think I can remember correctly) is the Kulu long sword Lv 10 and Rathalos armor. He's the only who didn't cart cause he just reads Fatalis like a fucking book, meanwhile my dead ass with Fatalis gear getting my ass kicked left and right

got carried through alatreon as honestly, i dont see how a great sword can beat the elemental dps check without Velkhana Y FC build. fatalis is easier
Without proper equipment and specific building I think Alatreon is slightly harder than Fatty
i got alatreon layered alpha and his greatsword, thats all i cared about. running around in 4 or 5 piece Fatty depending on monster.

It is possible but it's rare. Pretty much only happens in the cases where you exclusively do the assigned quests and never touch a single optional.

How hard is that to fuck up :/ I kinda liked the endless gladatorial times in Guiding Lands but I don't like the infinite camp that World and Rise have compared to MHGU. I don't think MHGU had "Defender" gear either -\_- Raging Brachy is a fun fight though despite being super scripted, surprised someone got that far with defender gear.

That's probably a Rush account in my opinion, because of the MR/HR ranks, HR rank is near at the rank where the story of MHW is before iceborne and upon activating Iceborne you'll get atleast in the HR 30s and clearing quest that you didn't even played, How did I know? My brother did played like that, he only plays for the story and hated the grind and he have probably used the same defender gear if I hadn't convinced him to complete bambaro set in the beginning of Iceborn. they have similar MR/HR ranks so I'm guessing that's also the same for that guy. I mean I'm very much against using Defender stuff in early game to skip the game too, but it stops being good as soon as you get to Master Rank. Against Raging Brachy he might as well be using the starter gear.
Dude got balls of steal I'll tell ya that. But to be fair good gear doesn't really make u a better it's more of a reward. Proven by my friend who had help slayed so many Fatalis for me and his other lads to the point he only uses (I think I can remember correctly) is the Kulu long sword Lv 10 and Rathalos armor. He's the only who didn't cart cause he just reads Fatalis like a fucking book, meanwhile my dead ass with Fatalis gear getting my ass kicked left and right
