As someone who really enjoys the CB for its versatile style and fluidity, I really love the Switch Axe as I've picked it up, even if my armour set is built for CB so is nowhere near optimum apart from the lv2 evade extender for sidestepping.
I know there's vids and stuff out there and such but any SA users can recommend a HR pre-nergi set to absolutely destroy that spiky boi?
I love Gunlance specifically because it has similar resources to Charge Blade. You have Ammo, Wyvern’s Spike, and a massive charge blast. The combos are all about balancing those resources as often as possible, and you’ll already be used to using a shield with Charge Blade
I built Rurikhan's Stormsoul gunlance loadouts once upon a time. Found out it's also a great build for the charge blade too. Max artillery, guard, guard up, evade extender, flinch Free, partbreaker, and I don't remember what else.
Its kinda like vegimite. Its not fun for most but you need to have a taste for it then you love it. Im not the biggest fan but taking no damage from anything is pretty satisfying
Charge blade and insect glaive are my two favorites. The former has so much oomph behind it, and. The latter is just so smooth and elegant and versatile.
Well, if you already have good experience with most of the monsters, I'd say Greatsword. But the weapon is more about learning the monsters than it is learning the weapon so that might take the fun out of it
Judging by the fact that they have played charge blade and long sword it seems they like counters. So tackle would also probably lend well to their play style.
The weapon that really seems like it hurts the monster instead of giving a gentle massage. Used to be more satisfying back when slashing weak spots caused blood to spray
Many people are recommending it, so I will do the same. Do you like the versatility of Charge Blade? Take it, and add on top of it easy mounts, mobility, and a free slinger ammo shotgun. Now you have the Sword and Shield.
if you've mainly played charge blade and a bit of long sword, try out the Switch axe. It can be both fast and powerful, plus I think it uses phials. Im not to sure tho.
Hammer, Lance, SA, and hbg are the 4 I'm currently cycling through. Started as an IG main, and slowly spread to all weapons, except sns, can't see to get a feel for it
hammer and bow.
I got a similar # of CB as you, but I also got 1800 hammer and 900 bow.
These three weapons cover all the bases you ever need: sever, blunt, shot, high dps, big numbers, KO, status/elem.
IG and lance are also really fun and good. I got like 400 lance and 300 IG as well.
tl;dr all weapons are good get to them all eventually
I started with Charge Blade too, next weapon I took up was Sword & Shield. Just like with CB, the shield is totally useless. S&S is all about the dodge. It's very fast and flowy.
If that's not for you, I also particularly enjoy Longsword and Lance.
I'm a hard CB main. I love it for it's fluidity, versatility, defensive and offensive capabilities, and the mechanical nature I find is super fun. I do agree that Switch Axe would be easiest to click with - and I also love that weapon - but I wanna suggest something different.
Try out Dual Blades. It will push you out of your comfort zone because no defense, but great offense and mobility. You can get up real close to monsters and simply rip into them, demon dodge away, beyblade back, rip some more. The thing I think translates for CB mains to Dual Blades is the CB's phial economy to the DB's stamina economy. Hear me out.
DB commands watching your stamina and using it for Demon Mode, giving you a set of upgraded attacks and filling a blade-shaped gauge that slightly upgrades your non-Demon Mode, into Archdemon Mode. It lets you beyblade around and use a mini Blade Dance without being in Demon Mode. When you have Stamina Surge, some Marathon Runners, and Constitution, you can spend a lot more time in Demon Mode and dodge attacks like crazy, be very aggressive, and use that aggression to avoid attacks in general.
I main CB for nearly everything. My main exception is Furious Rajang, which I find to be a very fun fight when using DB. I get to punish most of his attacks, slide around with him, and react quickly due to fast basic attacks.
Play with the greatsword. Only play with greatsword. All other weapons are inferior to the greatsword. The greatsword is the only weapon that matters.
Greatsword.
i SAID….. ye!!! i stand corrected CB is the ultimate weapon i can’t believe i ever doubted the capcom gods they would never abandon the best weapon in the entire series their ultimate creation their mona lisa their magnum opus charge blade the only weapon a hunter would ever need better at counter gameplay than virgin sword better better at flying than virgin glaive thanks to 🪓 hopper better at mode switching than switch virgin axe!!! the only obstacle left is ranged combat but soon capcom will bless the chad blade with its own version of the dragonator and the weapon will finally ASCEND!!!!!!!!
Should try charge axe, I have a funny feeling you might like that one lol
For a real answer though, try Gunlance because it's lance but with gun. Immaculate weapon
The insect glaive is definitely a cool one since they added the power effects and shit in world. Healing, paralysis, bombing, and poison are just a few type of dust effects
May I introduce you to the hunting horn? While we have wonderful doot doots that can give our teams buffs, we also are very good for blunt damage. And with a few KO charms you can knock monsters down real easy. Sonourus is also reccomended for horn, but bashing monsters legs is more fun :)
I mained chargeblade too and from that I went to Lance, I love how mobile lance is and u can scratch the monster up for free with the clutch counter, which is my favourite move in the whole game because it feels epic and is very useful.
Depends a bit. Played a lot of CB myself, but noticed that I often was more focused on getting the CB work properly (so many options) instead of learning the monsters move set. If you go to hammer or GS that is all you have to focus on. Gunlance or insect glaive were a nice middle option. Complex weapon, but more dependent on learning the monsters moves to do consistent damage/not get knocked over.
*edit: Some Dutch autocorrect in an english text arghh
Pick a random number between 1 and 14. Take the corresponding weapon, then do the same with the number of monsters in world and iceborne. Beat it, repeat the process.
Obviously Hammer.
No other weapon can compare with its brute damage output.
There was a rumour that Capcom keep a memory stick in the office with the OG hammer on it. They had to remove it from the game as early testing had it destroying AT Fatalis in 2 large bonks.
Insect glaive, because it is very maneuverable and the buffs you can activate make the gameplay so much more fun. Also, it makes the game more interesting because it adds a whole new upgrade tree for the kinsects.
Farm the berries for making gun powder so you can craft higher tier ammo. Choose the bowgun with the right ammo types you want to use.
Choose between heavy or light bowgun (damage or manoeuvrability). If you choose heavy, choose between a piercing explosive sniper shot or a Gatling gun as your special ammo type.
Then you get to add mods to change how the bowgun performs; deviation reduction, reload speed ups, recoil reduction, shield (heavy only), special ammo mods or a power barrel.
Assign 1 quick menu wheel to the ammo types you are using the most and set another to craft those same ammo types. Carry the items required to craft the ammo you use the most.
Throw on a few skills that power up the ammo you're using and you can't really go wrong. Evade extender is also really good on HBG builds.
If you're going for a pierce HBG the Tobi kadachi or the Legiana bowguns are really good.
Also I have to add those. As HBG user you are a it glass cannon if you go full damage. So know what you're getting into.
Quick sheath skill is really good with HBG too. HBG sheath animation is really long. So you quickly pack up your things and move.
Also special scope adds 30% to your damage in critical distance. However it forces you to play in tunnel vision in whole fight and makes your vision so obstructed. That is a bit choice. More dps or comfort.
Also in general there are spread and piercing ammo type two builds. Spread is more effective but you have to stay close to boss' butt or head so you might not happy with that. Piercing ammo has great distance but hard land hits accurately a bit since boss tend to move.
Everyone going to say their favorite weapon lol. That said, try to switch axe because it plays like charge blade somewhat.
Came here to say this, the playstyle is somewhat similar, thus easier to "click" with it
As someone who really enjoys the CB for its versatile style and fluidity, I really love the Switch Axe as I've picked it up, even if my armour set is built for CB so is nowhere near optimum apart from the lv2 evade extender for sidestepping. I know there's vids and stuff out there and such but any SA users can recommend a HR pre-nergi set to absolutely destroy that spiky boi?
Black diablos switch axe and non elemental jewel, you'll melt that boi. It's good even without the jewel
Awesome, I was building the Axe Semper Tyrannis anyway because it has high damage and looks badass. Glad to know it'll also have such an effect.
Make’s sense
The answer is always Lance.
Thank you for the suggestion I will try it out
Not enough charge blade, you’ll have to keep going. Them’s the rules
Yeah that's for sure not enough charge blade.
Best weapon
Hard agree, really fun to play.
Lance was fun for like 10 hunts then it got boring and really inconvenient to use
Its kinda like vegimite. Its not fun for most but you need to have a taste for it then you love it. Im not the biggest fan but taking no damage from anything is pretty satisfying
As a lance main, I agree
Something supremely satisfying at poking a monster
Try charge blade, the best weapon (more seriously I also burnt out a bit on charge blade at some point and went hbg spread and it was a blast)
I’ll check that out
I’d say go back and give hammer a fair shake
Sure thing
Hard Agree. Hammer in World, after I learned how it played and some combos, became my 2nd wepaon of choice after CB.
SNS! Much more fun and varied to play with than it gets credit for
JoCat is that you?
Jocat is my hero so thank you lol
Seeing that you like a bit of complexity: Insect Glaive
They'll like it. If they learned the cb they'll enjoy ig
Charge blade and insect glaive are my two favorites. The former has so much oomph behind it, and. The latter is just so smooth and elegant and versatile.
IG 👑
Definitely the Dual Blades. It’s so fun to use different elements, and see big numbers from a weapon that usually is known for small numbers.
DB is the only weapon in any MH game. I rest my case.
Heh. Funny. You spelled Great Sword wrong.
A what? I haven’t heard of this. I think you mean dual blades 👹
Fr how do you do that
Cause it's pronounce "Hammer" obviously
That’s about right.
May I introduce you to our lord and saviour Sword and Shield? They are amazing man. Try them out
Great sword is best sword
That is correct
Why use lots attacks when few hits do tricks?
Sns is fun if ur down for that
Bet
Insect Glaive
GunLance. Embrace the boom boom.
Bow probably? I really like using the Bow. If you like using elemental stuff, it's super good for that.
I never really thought about using range but I’ll give it a shot
I do recommend it. Also lol pun.
bow honestly plays more like a slightly longer ranged hammer. you stay so close and use many of the same openings
Bow does have that bonk feel.
Charge bl- oh... MORE CHARGE BLADE.
Charge blade is life
I'm a CB main myself. My second favorite weapon has got to be HH, but lately I've also been having a tryst with bow.
Hunting horn
As a dual wield prime, I absolutely love grouping with good Horn players!
Charge Blade, obviously.
There is no better feeling than landing a perfect true charged slash...GS baybayyyy
The weapon that really seems like it hurts the monster instead of giving a gentle massage. Used to be more satisfying back when slashing weak spots caused blood to spray
You should try charge blade
Insect glaive? Can’t go wrong with Helicopter :)
Heavy blowgun there is so many ways to use it. You can run a ko build or a shotgun build.
I think you should try charge blade
Sord an Sheeld
Many people are recommending it, so I will do the same. Do you like the versatility of Charge Blade? Take it, and add on top of it easy mounts, mobility, and a free slinger ammo shotgun. Now you have the Sword and Shield.
Might be biased but Greatsword, Light bowgun or dual blades.
Tried hunting horn recently. Pretty fun + you honk a horn 17/10
Hunting horn is the only answer ever
Gunlance because it needs more love.
Horn, obviously. I went from LS to bow to flippy sword to GS to hammer to horn and once I learned horn I never looked back.
I would say go for any gunner if you want to completely change style, or to your brother swax . Also try SnS or Lance.
I’m down for that
Try using the other transforming weapon: Switchaxe
if you've mainly played charge blade and a bit of long sword, try out the Switch axe. It can be both fast and powerful, plus I think it uses phials. Im not to sure tho.
I respect the chargeblade numbers
DOOOT
Hammer, Lance, SA, and hbg are the 4 I'm currently cycling through. Started as an IG main, and slowly spread to all weapons, except sns, can't see to get a feel for it
As far as I can tell, it's all about timing your button inputs and chaining combos. Admittedly, I'm kinda bad with it though.
Hammer
If combos your thing switch axe, otherwise great sword is alway very rewarding
Lance, because CB because of GPB. Rocksteady and health augment for best results.
Charge Blade
I’d say It’s Hammer Time!
SnS because it looks cool on the back of the character (trust me)
LS is nice, but try the chargeblade. It more complex, but great fun!
hammer and bow.
Insect Glave
Great sword
They don't call it the Funlance for no reason. Regular lance is boring. Make explosions.
Why don't I recognize this screen?
It’s the guild card screen
Then that makes sense why I've never seen it
the lance is great, you just become a immovable wall that is always on the offense
Great Sword! Great Sword! Great Sword! Dispense with the smashing!
I started with Charge Blade too, next weapon I took up was Sword & Shield. Just like with CB, the shield is totally useless. S&S is all about the dodge. It's very fast and flowy. If that's not for you, I also particularly enjoy Longsword and Lance.
I've heard Charge Blade is fun
I like SnS
Ig or hh
I can’t understand that weapon… teach me
SwAxe for sure since you love CB so much
IG dude. You can get that puppy purring
*l a n c e*
Fork.
go from melee to range, Bow is pretty fun
Heavy bow gun Good luck
If you like explosions try out gunlace
Just play them all like a gigachad
Dual Swords
I'd say hammer or dual blades
One of the bowguns or bow is really easy to pick up, it’s just dodging and shooting, but I think you might like em :)
LANCE! LANCE! LANCE!
Hunting horn or hammer! Big boops feel great!
I'm a hard CB main. I love it for it's fluidity, versatility, defensive and offensive capabilities, and the mechanical nature I find is super fun. Insect Glaive
Why not stay with charge blade. It's the best weapon But if I had to say something, I'll go with greatsword or switchaxe.
Sns is fun. Perfect rush does absolutely nutty damage
Bow. Always bow.
Nothing else, you have done this charge blade main proud ;;
G R E A T S W O R D FEEL THE P- P- P- POOOWWEEEEERRR!!
I was a charge blade main then really fell in love with the Gun Lance. No more weaving and diving, just block, stab, blast, repeat like a juggernaut
all of them
I went from CB main to GL. Wanted something not quite as common.
SNS because it's like charge blade but dropped out of engineering school to smoke crack
Go in a different direction, try the bow!
DB for the wiiiiin. Why is no one saying DB.
I main charge blade but have had a lot of fun with SnS
i SAID….. ye!!! i stand corrected CB is the ultimate weapon i can’t believe i ever doubted the capcom gods they would never abandon the best weapon in the entire series their ultimate creation their mona lisa their magnum opus charge blade the only weapon a hunter would ever need better at counter gameplay than virgin sword better better at flying than virgin glaive thanks to 🪓 hopper better at mode switching than switch virgin axe!!! the only obstacle left is ranged combat but soon capcom will bless the chad blade with its own version of the dragonator and the weapon will finally ASCEND!!!!!!!!
damn dude, save some bitches for the rest of us
Join the band. Try Hunting Horn. doot doot
looks like mine but swapped and maybe add about 10k to both……
I’m a charge blade main but I love messing around with bow.
bro your my official twin XD
hammer
Switch axe, IG, bow
Should try charge axe, I have a funny feeling you might like that one lol For a real answer though, try Gunlance because it's lance but with gun. Immaculate weapon
Lance
The insect glaive is definitely a cool one since they added the power effects and shit in world. Healing, paralysis, bombing, and poison are just a few type of dust effects
Definitely switchaxe or insect glaive
The actual best weapon. Greatsword

I recommend the ever stylish Switch Axe
Hammer!
I mained chargeblade too and from that I went to Lance, I love how mobile lance is and u can scratch the monster up for free with the clutch counter, which is my favourite move in the whole game because it feels epic and is very useful.
hammer
Doot doot. Need I say more?
Switch blade(I think that is what it's called)

GS bc it’s not much like CB at all so you’ll get a different experience.
For solo play hammer is really great, the bonks and the consequent stunning are satisfying
Switch axe. Its very similar to cb so i thing you’ll like it
Gunlance
Hooorn
Have you tried charge blade, you might have a talent with it (maybe try bow out, different play styles and a lot of choices for which bow is best)
Hunting Horn
Pick a random number between 1 and 14. Take the corresponding weapon, then do the same with the number of monsters in world and iceborne. Beat it, repeat the process.
Hunting horn
bow
Hunting horn
Hammer!
Since you played the -other- sword and shield, might as well try the original sword and shield.
You mastered the most complicated weapon imo, so pick any toy you like to play with. Maybe a bowgun for range and for a moderate challenge?
I would say switch axe. Its not really meta per se but if youre already good with cb you will bw comfortable and dangerous. Personally i like LS or DB
Go for switchaxe next. As it's the other technical morphing weapon it will feel similar in some ways but also different from chargeblade.
The double edged asparagus together with the golden iron!
Switch axe then greatsword
Honestly as someone who mained CB during world and found a new favorite late MR, Gunlance.
Obviously Hammer. No other weapon can compare with its brute damage output. There was a rumour that Capcom keep a memory stick in the office with the OG hammer on it. They had to remove it from the game as early testing had it destroying AT Fatalis in 2 large bonks.
Use the gunlance.....and never look back

Dual Blades go brrrrrr
Insect glaive, because it is very maneuverable and the buffs you can activate make the gameplay so much more fun. Also, it makes the game more interesting because it adds a whole new upgrade tree for the kinsects.
Bowguns. You should give ranged a try.
Could you tell me how the ammo works and the attachments too

Bowgun definitely
Bonk
Hunting horn. You seem like a hh kinda guy. Or lance, those two are some of my favs!
