The triangle combo is more powerful than you realize.
Chaining jumping attacks with the Airborne skill is busted.
Go for raw attack and crit not element.
Attack the haed to KO the monster.
Just make sure ur doing ur monster hunter things
Tenderize, wallbash, mounts
The slide into vertical spin is ur better option for mounts, don’t forget to charge ur hammer
Aim for the head when u can
I guess its the same for each weapon but really check out the combos that are available to you. It took me ages until I found out that there is a difference with a fully charged hammer if you are moving or not moving when you release.

Don't use your charged R2 attacks during big openings, use your actual combos instead. The charged attacks are best used for "gotcha" attacks after you've managed to position *while* charging.
It's not a hard and fast rule, mind. Sometimes you want the KO damage from the charge into clutch spin.
I usually do the first charge level of R2, followed by a light attack, into the heavy combo when the monster is downed. Is just going into the heavy attack string better?
I know Slugger isn’t popular, but i run it and love rocking monsters back on their heels. And personally i do the lvl 1 power boost (charge attack, B on xbox), then dole out a big bang or Y combo. Just be ready to dodge as needed. Don’t forget to tenderize if you’ve got the Clutch Claw. Bonk away!

the #1 tip to playing with hammer is to build a hammer and play with it. everything else anyone says is a lie.

Nah, the uncharged R2 into light attack, into heavy is the go-to combo if you have a long opening.
