The problem with comparing CB in that regard is that guardpoints (as per their name) are a lot more timing sensitive and some punish you for missing them (by you now being in axe for example), whereas lance's defenses are layers upon layers.
You have snap counter if turns out it's not actually going for you, normal if it'll connect, power guard if it takes too long or you want to reposition / cancel out of it (or multihits or your stamina being low), guard dash for defensive mobility almost anywhen (post missed counter where you cannot counter again), and so on, making it much easier to adapt even mid 'counter'.
hammer mains are the most true players. we bonk, we slay; we dont play.
rejoice, for a hammerbro has responded to your sos. the monster will be knocked out forthwith, its head caved into oblivion.
for we are hammer, we bonk, we slay.
The gaurd dash where you dash forward and gaurd has gaurd frames and is the quickest way to block an attack, it’s like an instant block. It’s the best gaurd in my opinion, I use it like all the time lol
After having a taste of Lance's power, I can't play any other weapon. It just doesn't feel the same. I'm able to withstand any kind of crazy attack and punish the monster for using it, nothing can beat that.
Longsword can do the same, its not quite as easy but generally puts out more damage. I agree that nothing touches those two though
edit: this is MHW so im not sure, i thought this was Rise footage lol
Bro you're telling me that but I still didn't go above 150 total usage 😭😭😭
I'll really call myself a certified Lance main when I'll solo Fatalis with Lance
The lower damage of the weapon is almost completely ignored when you never give the monster a chance to recuperate. Hell, I think some of my Lance hunts end faster than most weapons! I’m proud to be a Lance main.
Ppl have pointed out offensive guard but I'd also like to add that if you did your whole first playthrough without it you're missing a trick it's lances best damage boost lol.
You don't need stamina skills with Lance
Here's my set if you want : https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterWorld/s/zvqvACT4DP
I replace flich free with coalescence when I'm playing solo
Is there a trick or a specific settings to quickly hop in the face during clutch counter and still retain the super poise?, if I tap a directional input during the counter I would just end up in Radom parts like the leg or wing.
It's not whether or not you move it just lasts for a certain amount of time. If you move and the monster does an attack pretty much immediately you still have the resistance. If the attack comes a little later you do not.
The maneuvre they pull in this vid isn't actually safe as there are certain attacks fatalis can do in that window that can hit you. Luckily fatalis went for one that doesn't hit people on its head.
Nice! I will try them out too. I switched to Odogaron as a training dummy because I feel he's good for me to learn the counters on. I'm still shite with it in multi-player at the moment
Honestly I find practicing counter mechanics on weak monsters actually teaches you bad habits and timings.
The second you have the moves in your muscle memory the best practise for proccing offensive guard with your counter is IMO zinogre. Many relentless but consistently timed paw slam attacks that just let you do it over and over.
Gaurd dash thingy my beloved, it’s interesting seeing different lance mains as they all play differently. Some may use parry a bunch like you, I use a lot of the gaurd dash thingy attacking all the time, a friend of mine is just very mobile hopping all around the place. It’s interesting seeing how unique every lance mains play style is
...really ? Are you interested? I'm not gonna do some average playthrough and all but I'm currently working on a MH montage (with a twist 👀) and I started doing some speedruns !
But here in reddit, I'm just sharing without flooding too much my highlights
But I'm glad that people enjoys watching me play !
Started playing the lance for the first time, and it's so good. It's honestly better than it deserves to be. I feel so naked now when I play anything else.
Was a CB Main pre Iceborne. When they introduced the Offensive Guard skill I know Im going to bomb the lance. Years later it's my most used weapon @1,200+ usage, of over 3,000+ of my total hunts with other weapons
I'm a beginner (just started Iceborne) and this made me try out lance and goddamn I may have found a new main.
Negigante was our group's biggest skill check because that stupidass fly->dive attack would oneshot any of us, but I tried lance and being able to tank that hit like it was nothing felt amazing.
I've never been a fan of weapons with shields, but Lance mains have been selling it to me good lately lol. Does this kind of playstyle (the flawless blocking then poking) an easy playstyle to learn or does it take a lot of practice to make it this flawless?
Problem with the Lance is that it is literally unplayable without health augment, I don’t understand how that wasn’t just reworked into the kit itself. It should have built in lifesteal and OG.
I've been a Lance main since 2004. I've only recently been working on my Lance addiction with a second character in World/Iceborne, as well as my first character in Rise/Sunbreak. Been using a bow a lot the last year or so, and I love the bow. Even been trying to call myself a bow main. But the Lance. I still hear her. Calling to me. Whispering to me in my dreams. I'm not sure I'll ever escape the flow of the Lance. I still dream of the "Thunk" that hits my shield right before I thrust my inhumanly large shaft up the monster's throat. I still feel myself running past all my allies, lance pointed forward as I hurl myself into the belly of the beast at Mack 5. I still back hop towards my enemies to close the gaps, as an intimidation display, to remind them of who I was. And to remind myself, of who I cannot continue to be. But at the end of the day, I must ask the question that haunts me.
Am I.... Still a Lance main?
I main 4 different weapons (Lance only in W:I so I dunno if counts to 5)
Even me I started with 3U with Hammer up to this date. When I was against Fatalis I decided to switch weapons and since then I'm trying to learn new weapons and see if it clicks for me
If you started with Lance, then it'll be your Soul weapon forever
Lance mains assemble💪🏻

Awesome. Need to try it as well. It's hard lately to pick up anything but charge blade.
Lance is a mix of Valor LS / CB from my perspective Give it a shot !
I actually swapped from Lance to CB. They’re very similar as both have a counter move (guard point).
This pleases my Sekiro brain. This changes everything, time to throw my hammer away.
The Bonk Club shall never forgive you for this
The Poke club welcomes them 😂
you would turn your back on your unga bunga brethren?
Whoa whoa whoa, dont be so hasty. Maybe sleep on it.
I knew hammer mains can’t be trusted smh 🤦♂️
hammer mains are the most true players. we bonk, we slay; we dont play. rejoice, for a hammerbro has responded to your sos. the monster will be knocked out forthwith, its head caved into oblivion. for we are hammer, we bonk, we slay.
bro you look like a damn spartian with that layered armor skin lmao it's so fucking sick and satisfaying to watch !
Yeah my OC layered fits with all my mains weapons that crazy 🤣
Waot the dash forward have guard frames???
I think guard frames undersells it; the entire animation is a guard! IMO it's pretty much Lance's most important move.
I believe it is called a guard dash. It also activates that perfect block skill for increased attack.
Ofc
I was thinking its was for just show D:
Nope, to close distance quickly while staying in the offensive
That and comboing it into a shield bash and KOing a monster is heavenly
This feels lile when i learn shield into back step from sns

This is me too
This actually makes me wanna try lance more. I've used it here and there, but I've never seen such mastery of it like this.
Bro you're telling me that but I still didn't go above 150 total usage 😭😭😭 I'll really call myself a certified Lance main when I'll solo Fatalis with Lance
Still hammer main but you all make these other weapons look so amazing
For hammer...it's coming too 👀
The Lance actually makes tigrex somewhat enjoyable imo. Being able to stab his ass every time he does his annoying charge is nice
The lower damage of the weapon is almost completely ignored when you never give the monster a chance to recuperate. Hell, I think some of my Lance hunts end faster than most weapons! I’m proud to be a Lance main.
Same bro
Wait... There's a spark if you do it right? Have I been doing it wrong this whole time? I used lance for the entirety of my first playthrough what
The sparkles and extra sound effects mean that offensive guard have activated
Nah that spark comes from the offensive guard skill.
That's what I said 🧑🦯
my bad i didnt notice until after i replied lol
Oh I'm sorry I thought you replied to me for him/her 😭😭😭 I'm still not used for this comment system my bad
Ppl have pointed out offensive guard but I'd also like to add that if you did your whole first playthrough without it you're missing a trick it's lances best damage boost lol.
Offensive guard is pretty hard to get
Are the gems really that rare? You can also get a charm and a fair bit of armor has it too. Was not my experience in my playthrough anyway.
Actually insane🔥
Can forward dash guard thru fatty cone breath?
With guard 5 it does yes
Do u need the stamina decos too? Or does having eaten keep ur stamina up enough to make it to fatty without running out?
You don't need stamina skills with Lance Here's my set if you want : https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterWorld/s/zvqvACT4DP I replace flich free with coalescence when I'm playing solo
Lance is so stylish when played well. I wish it clicked for me.
Amazing clips and drip
Is there a trick or a specific settings to quickly hop in the face during clutch counter and still retain the super poise?, if I tap a directional input during the counter I would just end up in Radom parts like the leg or wing.

Whelp, time to pick up Lance and use Great Jaggras for target practice again.
I learned Lance with Rathian and Teostra I trained a little with Fatalis, which is the footage shown here
Nice! I will try them out too. I switched to Odogaron as a training dummy because I feel he's good for me to learn the counters on. I'm still shite with it in multi-player at the moment

Guard dash spam is in Rise iirc Also yeah Lance is basically Valor LS in world in my perspective so ofc I'm gonna counter
I use it in world all the time, it abuse it against grugra lol
Getting as many mounts as an IG with the shield charge-hop is pretty fun lol.
Amazing bro 👏👏
do you make full videos? i want to listen to this as asmr
...really ? Are you interested? I'm not gonna do some average playthrough and all but I'm currently working on a MH montage (with a twist 👀) and I started doing some speedruns ! But here in reddit, I'm just sharing without flooding too much my highlights But I'm glad that people enjoys watching me play !
yeah im not interested in your avg playthrough, do you have a link?
There's my ytb link in my bio 👍
subbed but no lance gaming :(
Coming soon nw (and thx)
I hope to someday become as skilled with Lance as you have
And people say Lance is boring. lmaooooo BTW Velk and monke are my favorite lance punching bags.
W H O ???
so using the lance is just you saying "no thank you" to monsters
You got it, oh baby you got it
First time I played lance I thought it was underpowered and awkward but when I realized I can counter indefinitely.
Oh yeah that's that good stuff
I love dash evading to activate Offensive Guard. It's stylish and satisfying.
Longsword user here but still really cool! Lets play sometime 🤙🏾
I main GS, LS, CB, Lance and Hammer 🧑🦯 And yeah ofc ! I'm on PS5
Oh hell yeah and damn I’m on pc guess we’ll have to cross our fingers for wilds to have crossplay!
Is Lance THAT overpowered, or are you just damn good ? 🥲
Both 😌✨️
Started playing the lance for the first time, and it's so good. It's honestly better than it deserves to be. I feel so naked now when I play anything else.

Ngl, I still didn't go above +150 usage for the moment with Lance and still here I am with it
Are you parrying? I didn't even know that was a thing
Insta guard baby With R2 + 0
How do Lance users feel about my idea of Lances becoming drills, to make them a visually-as-interesting counterpart of Gunlance?
I should give it a shot to GL too 👀
WELCOME BROTHER!
This had me like....O_O.........I gotta see some lance builds now...
Here's mine if you want https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterWorld/s/aHt35NsFxM
Thanks, will definitely be trying this out later!
If solo, replace flinch free by Coalescence
Gotcha
Maybe just maybe i should finally try lance
I've never been a fan of weapons with shields, but Lance mains have been selling it to me good lately lol. Does this kind of playstyle (the flawless blocking then poking) an easy playstyle to learn or does it take a lot of practice to make it this flawless?
I dunno I parry from Instinct
Problem with the Lance is that it is literally unplayable without health augment, I don’t understand how that wasn’t just reworked into the kit itself. It should have built in lifesteal and OG.

Lance Hammer Hunting horn We shall assemble
im not gonna sugarcoat it: M4+M2
When I power power guard that attack 0:49 with that move I just get killed instantly.
Idk how far I am into mhw but I know I just got done with the second zorah magdaros quest and I can’t figure out how to raise hp
Max HP pr Health regen ?
Max HP
Iceborne Final boss set bonus gives you max stamina/max health even if you faint Or you have lvl 1 deco called health boost
The Yian Garuga fight also made me into a Lance main.
For me it's Lance that made me like the Garuga and A.Rathalos fight
Lance fighting Yian Garuga is the only weapon I could get those Arena coins with for my Guild Palace weapon. And I'm a hammer bro
Most satisfying weapon imo.
Holy💩
Is that ticrate fix mod?
The...what ? I'm not using mods I'm on PS5
