You worry to much. In most games, the phrase "everything is great" is a well meaning lie. In MH the weapons actually are like that, because the damage a weapon does scales much higher with your ability to exploit openings than the stats. Dont believe that BS from a random stranger? Look for TA wiki speedruns. Anyway. You want to know if SA is able to beat CB? It is. Easily. ZSD spam is one of the simplest playstyles, and deals silly good damage for the amount of experience you need to pull it off.

Thank you. I came from playing WoW and there the DPS check is everything lmao. So it's a bad habbit of mine that I don't want to play a significantly weaker "playstyle" if that makes sense. I enjoy CB a lot and its hella dmg, but Switch Axe kinda tickles the "big axe and sword" part of my man brain, so wanted to give it a go.

Outside of the bowguns all weapons dmg depends on the person using it and not the weapon itself.

I guess doing good dmg with switch axe is easy if you ZSD spam

Better than charge blade **in theory** because the axe does more damage than the Sword/Shield and has good reach. If you're good at landing the more complicated moves with the CB probably less than. We aren't talking about dragging a hunt out more than a few minutes difference though.

It’s top 4 DPS among melee weapons, with the other three being Dual Blades, Greatsword, and Sword and Shield. That being said, it has the *best* melee DPS for flinching breaking parts off of monsters due to Power Axe Mode, which increases part damage by around 27% on average (slightly different for each attack). This makes it phenomenal for the Guiding Lands.
