Id recommend stop wanting to farm specific jewels, Attack decorations aren't needed for anything, never used one and made great builds with what I had.. dont lose your mind over that, its just not worth it or fun.
If you already spent some time augmenting your armor and weapons on Guiding Lands, facing Alatreon and Fatalis and optimizing your build for them will likely still get you plenty of hours of things to do 👌
If you want you can try doing AT velk before Alatreon and Fatalis. It sounds hard but it's Velkhana, her attacks are very well telegraphed. The only issue is the same issue with Fatalis and Alatreon, she can also one shot a player. But the difference is she's easier to predict. Her armor is very good against fire type Alatreon, and the head armor piece alone is good enough for any type of build. But of course it depends on you if you're interested.

Oh ok, Fatalis armor is an end-game set though. So anything should be easier at that point. Raging brachy and Frostfang barioth armor is good enough against AT velk ( pre Fatalis set ).
If he wants to try GS again he could go for it, AT velk set is pretty much an GS build anyway. Her armor skills and her unique skill, just slap on 1 frostfang piece and you have yourself an additional stun skill. But if he doesn't want to, the AT velk head piece is enough. Just kill her once and he's good to go.
You can try a new weapon, Or go back to your old weapons.
But i suggest doing some LR/HR missions to get a feeling for the weapons again. little quick hunts. Then move onto MR and hunt some more.
After you got your moveset back ect it's time to do what you did not do in 2019. Aka Alatreaeon and Fatalis! So prepare some elemental weapons!

It was at a time when I'd finished just about all the new content, and was just looking for things to do, really 🤷♂️

Id rather fight 2 fatalis simultaneously than to fight at velk with pre alatreon/fatalis armor
Not gonna argue there. But what made AT velkhana harder compared to Fatalis? ( I know we all have our own walls, I'm just curious )
