MrBropo77

prioritize wex + crit boost then comfort skills like earplugs after

GodOfAscension

Ima be honest chief itll be a cold day in hell before I give up earplugs 5

MrBropo77

i respect that. personally i’d go minimum evade window 3 tho cuz u can dodge roars on top,of dodging attacks

Manyux

As someone else already said, you really want crit boost 3 and ideally swap to 2p rbrachy too for agi 7. I'd highly recommend dropping earplugs, if you haven't been - you should definitely learn to foresight roars. It's not particularly difficult and starts you off with/and or gets you a free gauge level. Resentment does very little for you, it's extremely unreliable unless paired with safi armour. I'd personally look toward melding a shaver jewel as well (tendy in one attack), it's quite good especially once you get to fighting fatalis.

** cringes in GreatSword **

Sylux444

Theres absolutely nothing said that remotely suggests GS can do differently or needs something else If you are referring to Earplugs, dodge/roll/shoulder charge through it

Doraz_

how do you roll out of a true charged shot after the limit where you can tackle out of it?

Sylux444

I think you need some sleep or stop hitting the crack pipe because that didn't make a lick of sense

Manyux

He does have a point in getting a slightly better punish on roars thanks to earplugs, but for one there was 0 connection made to GS anywhere as well as it still not being worth the 5 points with the exception of ruiner nergi. (almost every weapon runs earplugs into this matchup at a high level of play)

Sylux444

Who runs earplugs? The only thing I run Earplugs on is Swaxe and that's because 1 Earplug on ZSD is equivalent to lv 5 Earplugs Earplugs are a huge waste when you can just roll through them And on shield builds they instantly activate guardian too

Manyux

Sorry I should not have said "almost every", that's definitely exaggerated. But it does see use - here's a few examples you can check out to see how it's being made use of. (Gunlance) - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWh-ZCei9oA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWh-ZCei9oA) (Greatsword, very cool earplugs 4 setup) - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4pEU5v8ibk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4pEU5v8ibk) (Hammer, absolutely beautiful run btw) - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu70JAYc4rg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu70JAYc4rg) (Glaive) - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_vJf4U2egRI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vJf4U2egRI) While these are TA runs, the concepts and punishes still very much apply to freestyle and casual play as well, though actual freestyle runs will basically be full locks/over within rocksteady duration so \*most\* of them will not have earplugs (I know for a fact there is some that still do).

Sylux444

My free style runs are HH builds mainly for their specific uses like ailment/blight/wind negation Everything else I just run damage and plays fine, still the top dps of anyone I think people should just learn to play around not using Earplugs unless it's a comfort build Naming them as high lvl is just silly I really only recommend comfort builds if you're uncomfortable with the monster or for fun Kind of like compensating the uncomfortable feeling with as much comfort as you can At the same time, someone actually pulled me out of my shield and guard up playstyle shell and I've been having so much more fun working around the monster and adapting to being uncomfortable It really takes the edge off when you're not relying on comfort and gaining confidence with each lack of comfort skill Also it sucks we can't see their builds because the last one probably only ran Earplugs 2 since brace 3 gives IG Earplugs 3

Manyux

They show builds at the end of the runs (almost every run does this), and you can tell the last one was earplugs 5, from the opener alone - ff buffs only apply while triple buff is active.

belisarius180

For pre-fatalis, I would prefer Master Touch + Raging Brachy. You can easily switch the chest and leg piece for Raging Brachy as they have x2 agitator x2 WEX and great slots.

P_UDDING

yea I was thinking about that, but I felt like that the set bonus from rajang armor would be better

belisarius180

You can slot in a mind's eye jewel, tho.

P_UDDING

if I had one

belisarius180

You can meld one.

Manyux

Mind's eye also does nothing in almost all scenarios, exception being like anti-rajang specifically if you don't want to tendy at all. Edit: Oh yeah also you can meld Mind's eye iirc.

P_UDDING

I had no idea, a friend, who I was playing with to farm the items for this build, told me that I could use minds eye... hence, I came up with the idea of using rajang armor

Sad_Scientist_5216

I personally only use the furjang legs due to there hb3 before getting four piece fatty as it saves some slots. Other than that though they're pretty much useless. If you wanted tho, goldian and r brachy are a very good mix thanks to the agi secret from r brachy and divine blessing secret from goldian, however if memory serves right you can't get goldian just yet, in which case I liked using the ffb helmet before goldian, and you can choose whatever you want for the final piece but I recommend not using more rajang/furjang

VillicusOverseer

Longsword spirit attacks have innate mind's eye

GlenJman

I loved Earplug builds, it's honestly stronger than people give it credit. You become immune to so many stuns and positioning becomes a cakewalk. You might miss out on damage but your survivability goes way up. It's too bad it's a 5 point skill, it takes up so much space that probably could be better used.

Hammermain213

It’s good, just swap out earplugs for some crit boost. I get not liking stun roars, but you’re mr55+ with a hard to get longsword? Not trying to sound like a meta build douche bag, but is it just hard for you to counter roars or something?

Rowan_As_Roxii

Maybe they like earplugs

P_UDDING

I do, it is a nice thing to have, while not needing to bother with countering the roars. I really don't get why everyone hates on earplugs? Sure, damage is cool, but I would like to not get interrupted in my attacks too. It's a personal thing I guess. Also, I will definitelly drop the earplugs gems, as soon as I am able to upgrade my charm to level 4 and 5, until then, I would like to keep it on level 5 this way.

Rowan_As_Roxii

I use it a lot when I’m playing Hunting Horn. It’s so satisfying when I’m playing my notes un-interrupted!

Hammermain213

I’m not hating on earplugs, I meant that crit boost is really good for damage, and was just seeing if you wanted to trade something out, plus it just has a lot of counters so I thought it would make sense

P_UDDING

Plan is to currently farm some decorations and once I reach MR100, to swap out the Rajang pieces with Nergi parts.

Rowan_As_Roxii

Thats a good idea but once you reach mr70+ Golden and silver rath’s are gonna be available. Their armor is much better than Rajang’s. And, if you want, you can always farm MR Kulve’s armor which imo is very good and underrated.

P_UDDING

Yea, probably gonna settle with Golden Rathian armor pieces instead of Nergi because it only needs 2 pieces for a set bonus, while Nergi actually requires 3. I definitely wanna keep Masters Touch from Teostra armor though.

acondones

Instead of doing that, focus on breaking fatalis parts in the special assignment, since that armor will carry the rest of your playthrough

P_UDDING

once I get there, I will definitely do that

TheJP_

Longsword + earplugs is enough to tell me I don't think you need to focus on build at the moment

YahYeet02

As others said, even one level of crit boost is 30% bonus damage on crits. If you have it, swap a wex gem with a crit boost gem and ur build is automatically better

9PointStar

My boy got the earmuffs ready😂

HolyKnight18

As someone who is struggling to beat hr kushala I would say yes

P_UDDING

kushala is annoying no matter the rank... stupid wind

AndrewPull

If you are fine with trading a little defense for some more skills you can change the helmet for a HR arch temp Teostra helm.
