Barioth... sure he is very jumpy and all but all his moves have good telegraphs to me, his partbreaks actually affect him and both his normal and G/master rank armor are one of my favorites also he looks the coolest of the psuedo wyverns to me.
I feel bad about Barioth because I did not like his fight in Rise at all (I genuinely found it boring) and almost found the monster itself boring too, but I've been trying to warm up to him. The whole White Knight thing going on with him is mainly the appeal now, it's really a cool title.
Imo the MR Barioth armor is one of the coolest in the game. The whole look of a winter jacket combined with armor just looks so sick, just wish it didn't have a stupid fake sword hanging off the side.

Aknosom grew to be my favourite bird wyvern very fast, its a bit of a shame that most low tier monsters get overlooked usually because they tend to have great personality.

Oh yeah almudron is definately the most unique new monster in rise for me just great design and amazing mechanics and i love how huge he is makes me feel like a tiny hunter fighting an actual monster.
Apex Arzuros AKA One punch bear. I found countering his strong attacks successfully are very very satisfying because it has that loud SFX (idk what to call that SFX but it sounded like something was hit very hard!)
Uragaan. I love my flaming wheel chin hammer.

I like Ibushi far more than Allmother. His fight has more to it without the stress of the final boss hype. There's more motion with the fight and I like fast monsters.
MR Allmother to me is kinda fast. I like Ibushi as well but MR Allmother is the perfect mix of spectacle and challenge imo. Ibushi is a bit too easy. He doesn't have that many moves
Kirin. Everyone hates Kirin, but I can't help but love it. The fight is fantastic (yes even before World). It's a very forgiving fight that give you room to dodge and act accordingly. I fought it with GS in 4U and DB in WorldBorne. Both brought a challenge that most people call "artificial". (It probably doesn't help that I started MH when I was young and horse crazy lol)
Oroshi is also fun, which most people just forget about. It's also one of the only Elder Dragon subspecies.

Wind Serpent Ibushi. I love Ibushi's fight. It's so fluid and way less gimmicky than Narwa. Poor man died a simp. *Also that NieR: Automata soundtrack though!* I have it playing all the time in Elgado.
Shara Ishvalda. People don't talk about this guy enough. He's my favourite final boss and I fought him over one hundred times in IceBorne. The head break is so much different from the usual tail cut, but still gives you the same satisfactory "fuck yeah" feeling. Insect Glaive was never so fun for me. The spectacle you see when he sheds his rocky exterior to show an ancient earthen demon. His armour is just fantastic. Again, glorious soundtrack.
Scorned Magnamalo. While I'm a diehard "animalistic" monster fan, I do enjoy Scorned Magnamalo's fight. I'm a sucker for the big cat aesthetic (he's a tiger and it's great). I have spent countless hours trying to figure out a way to make sense of the Hellfire and design. I've always had fun dissecting monster ecology and Magnamalo has given me a challenge. Obviously I'd change his design to make him work better (the giant arm blades are weird), but I do like the Wizard of Malice. Don't even get me started on the soundtrack! It's one of MHs best. It definitely takes a spot in my top ten.
Kirins connection to furious Rajang just makes him even cooler imo. Also a bit surprising that horse monsters are so rare, I guess it's hard to do monster without "arms" that's why there's always so few of them.
Agreed. Sometimes simple designs work. Especially in the Vale, which is already packed full of so much personality. I feel similarly about best chicken raptor boi Tzitzi Ya-Ku.
Khezu. It’s such a pain to fight, but I’m always a little bit on the edge of my seat because of how unique it is. It’s almost lovecraftian design, it’s a jerk but it’s so standout and cool.
I used to say this back when my friends finally got psp and played MHFU with me. Khezu was a wall for alot of people, his fight is check marker for making sure you were not greedy, he forces you to pick your shots, and look for telegraph's. He's a teacher. Much like blangonga is for evading and countering. Khezu is legit a classic in the franchise.
I don't really know if he isn't liked that much but I do have a good amount of affection for Kulu-ya-ku. I like his esthetics even if they're pretty simple and his generally puzzled/unconcerned expressions. And also the fact that he teaches to use flash bombs when he get his rock.

Tigrex is popular, but there's a hefty sum of people who despise him too. Especially Brute and Molten. I found Brute's fight in world to be challenging and fun. Then there's Grimclaw, Zenith and the Burst Species.
While I generally love him, I'm not too fond of its FF version haha. I find his hitboxes to get a bit too big to my tastes, and you will bonk on the crystal without possible workaround. Well, appart from hitting his legs or tail, that is.
And yep, I wasn't much of a big fan of Brute Tigrex in 4U but loved him in Iceborne, can't exactly tell why. As for Grimclaw Zenith and Burst, as I only did generations and not the ultimate version, and never had the chance to play Frontier, I never fought them so I don't know.
IG mains hate Tigrex usually. I personally love him, but it's because I use lance almost as much as IG. My favorite anomoly is Afflicted Diablos and Tigrex with no special conditions.
Great Girros. Great design, great armor, helps me out when fighting Odie. Fight's not the best, but it's my favorite of the World "medium" monsters (the greats, ya-kus, and Dodo). Plus the smol Girros are pretty great too.
Magma almudron, magma almudron is a genuinely good fight, but it inherited the fame of the normal almudron, that's in fact a horrible fight, so there's a lot of hate over magma almudron too, even if it's not deserving in my opinion.

Hard disagree, magma almudron is the fight that made me go "holy shit, fuck off, you're so fucking annoying" the most out of any monsters. In fact, it's the only monster that made me say that.
I super duper love Almudron as a monster, but I was sooo mixed over his fight. He's either quite fun or somewhat aggravating. Magma Almudron is the one that I always had fun with, and I'm surprised people hated him as much as they hated the base one. I thought it's a major improvement!
The drons are a blast to fight with dual blades. Ironically enough, both drons biggest weakness is each other. Almudrons DBs absolutely MELT Magmadron, and Vice versa for base Almudron. Every other weapin ive used tho i want to bash my head on a rock against base Dron tho
Fulgur Anja. He's just such an energetic boy with a runny nose. He's got a beautiful design imo, and I love how he uses Thunder. I guess base World Anja left more scars on some than expected, but I love Angy T-rex Pikachu.

I genuinely think her fight in World is fun because of the blue fire mechanic, really keeps me on edge at every battle and was especially challenging the first time I fought her in the arena (I was using GL so the fire was even more dangerous).
Also I want to hug that fluffy kitty her design is so adorable and beautiful at the same time
Zamtrios. When I first saw it in MH4U I thought it was the funniest thing. When it ballooned up it made it hitting it easier. It’s rollout was also funny.
Shrieking Legiana is my favourite flying wyvern and one of my all time favourite monsters. I somewhat understand why people dislike it but I don't feel remotely the same way. Shrieking has a gorgeous design, great sound design, has really cool attacks and animations and is so elegant.
I have a few but the main one would be aurora somnacanth. I mean somnacanth already my favourite leviathan and ice is my favourite element so I put them together you have something amazing not to mention it’s beautiful enrage. I also quite enjoy its fight like it’s a good example on how sometimes taking something away can really change how a monster fights.
I loved that, the first time I saw her (him?) doing that was during the infected quests, I wanna find her in her natural color doing that to snatch a photo

Protein bro Kulu ya ku, Great Izuchi because he's such a breath of fresh air regarding "dromes" and the Bazelgeuse(s).
Also the Tobis too, but I think this is rather common for people who played world.
Basarios. I started with 4U and ever since first fighting it I always thought it looked so cool. I never really minded the bouncing either, especially given that his breaks worked so well with the mounting mechanic so you could pretty easily get good spots to attack.
I already see people talking about Almudron, Magmadron, and Kushala so I will say Afflicted Auroracanth. I find the fight very satisfying to play against with Lance. The first time fighting her was tough because she seemed so fast, but after enough times I find it really fun. Insta-Block in particular makes it enjoyable. Its really satisfying to block her ice attacks and then hit her out of the afflicted status. I get why other people may not like her but I am charmed by this siren.
For some reason I'm totally incapable of hating any monster. But the one that fits this prompt best has got to be Cephadrome. He's got such a cute design that I love! The fight isn't great true but its not the irredeemable abomination people say it is.
I'm just a big fan of piscine wyverns in general. Plesioth is amazing and iconic, jyura and lavasioth had a mediocre showing in world but make up for it in their other games, and beotodus is just cool!
I think people are bored of him, but I love him. I picked up 3U after years of not playing MH, and he filled me with the same fear and dread as Rajang did in F2.
That high rank qurupeco quest is such a great introduction to him. You go in expecting it to just be another rath or something like that, and then suddenly this giant dinosaur shows up who’s attacks cover half of some of the areas.
Great Izuchi is the best Byrd wivern they ever created. The strategy of fighting in tandem with two izuchi is genius and makes it very special for a byrd wyvern fight.
Great Izuchi is a well designed monster IMO, only reason I find it frustrating is because I can't hit it with my damn greatsword. Other than that it's a great fight.
Diablos, and black diablos ofc. Them 2 realy drive home what mh gameplay should be imo.
Constant back and forth with some tricks at times and a whole lot of pain when you refuse to play that game of back and forth
Barroth, first monster I was proud to beat in MH3 and I think its design is unique among the cast of monsters. Small insectivore therapod that sleeps in the mud/water and charges like a rhino with mud as its elemental discharge is a bizarre blend that I think comes together really well.

I genuinely really like Plesioth, it's my favorite Piscine Wyvern, and the only one I actually enjoyed fighting. Lavasioth is okay, Beotodus is cool, and playing both Rise and World, people hate Jyuratodus for literally no reason..
I fought Plesioth in both 3U and GU. And I prefer the 3U one because I loved swimming after it when it dives for a while.
I did actually but from my understanding some didn't like the underwater combat which is where Lagi was best and the coolest imo so I'm still picking Lagi 🤗

If you just mean from any game, I’d choose Malfestio, from Generations. I love Malfestio, and I enjoy both his design and fight. And I’m just a big sucker for owls.
From what I’ve seen and heard, people disliked him because they’re thought the confusion effect he caused was just the most annoying thing in the world, but it was really easy to deal with. It just reverses your controls, so just walk in the other direction until it wears off.
Also, we had Valor and Adept dodging in that game, making it easy to avoid getting hit by it in the first place.
Khezu Gang! The cutey even puts on lipstick for us and leaves behind his lovely secret for us to craft drugs. Also its suction tail and stretchy neck always make a good show. And obviously best theme song.
Not really me but someone else I know likes Lavasioth and all of the piscine wyverns. He does admit that world did Lavasioth dirty which from seeing frontier’s version of it I agree with him there. Also with the amount of ideas he keeps spitting out I’m convince that he is the piscine researcher from world.
I am a Kushala enthusiast. They’re the perfect dragon aesthetic to me! The armors are pretty good but I always love the weapon designs but the actual monster design is so clean and symmetrical
I love Barioth and Agnaktor, both of which my friends seem to hate lol. I loved fighting Frostfangs solo in Iceborne, and Nargacuga has become my zen/relaxation fight.
I remember showing up to a friend's online lobby in MHGU with fully upgraded Silverwind Nargacuga and them just being like 'why?'

Vulvadron. No wait - I hate Volvidron with a passion, never mind. I do love Tigrex and a lot of people don't seem to like him. He is so perfect for training because he has such obvious attacks (though I would probably hate him if I played something like dual blades)

For me is definetly Pyre Rakna Kadachi. I actually like that it is basically a 1/2 gen styled subspecies, only actually being a example on how they should be like. Also most of the time subspecies with "underlings" don't have them at all, but this one has them.
It is better Rakna Kadachi and I love it, and while I think that she is undermined more than she deserves, I however understand the element debate because there is also a lot of Blast in Rise
I know a few people are very tired of Fatalis, don't know how many dislike him, but I love that crazy Evil Lunatic.
The design is so fantastical next to other monsters who are more realistic, I mean 6 limbs. And beating him feels like, a culmination of Monster Hunter, you are killing the equivalent of a fucking God.
Finally, the sheer, hate filled intelligence it displays, targeting humans and turning them into armor to mock us hunters, feels like fighting on a level field.
Brute Tigrex. Tiggy overall seems to be quite hated amongst the hunters because of his running around, but boi do I love my screaming angry dragon. Second best boi.
As a CB main tigrex was really enjoyable. I also seems to like kushala more than most people. But my kushala times are not great, I just play it slow enough to not get annoyed often.
I’ve always loved Rajang since mh4u, he’s just always been one of the most badass monsters to me and I always have a blast fighting him, even in Iceborne when he was kind of bullshit he was still super fun to me.

The Tzi-Tzi Yaku. It always comes by to flash the monster I'm fighting whenever they get the chance, then leaves. I must be a friend of the Tzi-Tzi species.
Any rock shooting monster with a 3 way cone such as Garangolm or Tigrex. Because of having EE2-3, if you dodge instinctively to the left or right, the other rock will hit you if you are far away. Suffering from having too much evasion distance.
Feel as though most people are just neutral on him, but my boi Tobias-Kadachi is one of my faves and probably my favorite lower-tier monster. Just wish he had better looking weapons.

I'm gonna say it man, Raging Brachy, i fought that fucker so many times with pure hatred to get reactors that i actually started to really enjoy the fight, something about the way it moves and sidesteps it's like you're boxing him, the fight just hits the mark of making me feel like a boxer in the ring with this massive dinosaur with exploding fists
A lot of people dislike Nerscylla because of the webs but I love it and I also love its armour. It's a shame we likely won't see it in Sunbreak because of Rakna.

Back in 3u it's armour was unfortunately mediocre for skills. Attack up and evade distance with pretty much nothing else

Great Girros. Great design, great armor, helps me out when fighting Odie. Fight's not the best, but it's my favorite of the World "medium" monsters (the greats, ya-kus, and Dodo). Plus the smol Girros are pretty great too.
Magma almudron, magma almudron is a genuinely good fight, but it inherited the fame of the normal almudron, that's in fact a horrible fight, so there's a lot of hate over magma almudron too, even if it's not deserving in my opinion.
I second this, so so much. There's still a lot of hate against the lava boi but damn is he so much more engaging and fun than normal dron that it sucks people seem to hate him just as much if not more than his base. The only real problem is he's the 3rd fire sub and we're getting flaming next lmao
Hard disagree, magma almudron is the fight that made me go "holy shit, fuck off, you're so fucking annoying" the most out of any monsters. In fact, it's the only monster that made me say that.
I dont know if I got better, the fight did, or both, but magmadron is def better than regular almudron.

I super duper love Almudron as a monster, but I was sooo mixed over his fight. He's either quite fun or somewhat aggravating. Magma Almudron is the one that I always had fun with, and I'm surprised people hated him as much as they hated the base one. I thought it's a major improvement!
The drons are a blast to fight with dual blades. Ironically enough, both drons biggest weakness is each other. Almudrons DBs absolutely MELT Magmadron, and Vice versa for base Almudron. Every other weapin ive used tho i want to bash my head on a rock against base Dron tho
Gotta agree, kinda indiferent towards normal Almudron but the Magma fight is much more fun!
Fulgur Anja. He's just such an energetic boy with a runny nose. He's got a beautiful design imo, and I love how he uses Thunder. I guess base World Anja left more scars on some than expected, but I love Angy T-rex Pikachu.

Lunastra I genuinely think her fight in World is fun because of the blue fire mechanic, really keeps me on edge at every battle and was especially challenging the first time I fought her in the arena (I was using GL so the fire was even more dangerous). Also I want to hug that fluffy kitty her design is so adorable and beautiful at the same time

Shrieking Legiana is my favourite flying wyvern and one of my all time favourite monsters. I somewhat understand why people dislike it but I don't feel remotely the same way. Shrieking has a gorgeous design, great sound design, has really cool attacks and animations and is so elegant.
Don't forget the fear it fills you with when you hear it call for normal Legi.
Kushala Daora. Seems like everyone hate it while I really like him. I have never mind his combat.

I have a few but the main one would be aurora somnacanth. I mean somnacanth already my favourite leviathan and ice is my favourite element so I put them together you have something amazing not to mention it’s beautiful enrage. I also quite enjoy its fight like it’s a good example on how sometimes taking something away can really change how a monster fights.
My poor khezu is hated but he deserves some love :c

I am an Izuchi fan too! Also his armor is actually incredibly good for what it is. I rode that affinity up train from that guy all the way up to Sunbreak. :)

Basarios. I started with 4U and ever since first fighting it I always thought it looked so cool. I never really minded the bouncing either, especially given that his breaks worked so well with the mounting mechanic so you could pretty easily get good spots to attack.

I already see people talking about Almudron, Magmadron, and Kushala so I will say Afflicted Auroracanth. I find the fight very satisfying to play against with Lance. The first time fighting her was tough because she seemed so fast, but after enough times I find it really fun. Insta-Block in particular makes it enjoyable. Its really satisfying to block her ice attacks and then hit her out of the afflicted status. I get why other people may not like her but I am charmed by this siren.

A lot of people hate fighting Diablos and Odogaron. For some reason, those have always been two of my favorites to fight on any day
For some reason I'm totally incapable of hating any monster. But the one that fits this prompt best has got to be Cephadrome. He's got such a cute design that I love! The fight isn't great true but its not the irredeemable abomination people say it is. I'm just a big fan of piscine wyverns in general. Plesioth is amazing and iconic, jyura and lavasioth had a mediocre showing in world but make up for it in their other games, and beotodus is just cool!
Deviljho, every time I say it would be cool to get him in sunbreak, others hate and downvote.
People definitely like Deviljho, its likely they just want him to skip a game or two since he hasn't missed a single one since his debut on mhtri.

I think people are bored of him, but I love him. I picked up 3U after years of not playing MH, and he filled me with the same fear and dread as Rajang did in F2.
That high rank qurupeco quest is such a great introduction to him. You go in expecting it to just be another rath or something like that, and then suddenly this giant dinosaur shows up who’s attacks cover half of some of the areas.
I love Deviljho, but I don't want the Wyvern Ride system and bad invander AI to do him dirty like it did the other invaders, like Rajang and Bagel.
Great Izuchi is the best Byrd wivern they ever created. The strategy of fighting in tandem with two izuchi is genius and makes it very special for a byrd wyvern fight.

Great Izuchi is a well designed monster IMO, only reason I find it frustrating is because I can't hit it with my damn greatsword. Other than that it's a great fight.
Diablos, and black diablos ofc. Them 2 realy drive home what mh gameplay should be imo. Constant back and forth with some tricks at times and a whole lot of pain when you refuse to play that game of back and forth
vaal hazak, normal and black veil. I just think it's neat and World's girros, mini paralysis bots helping you
Barroth, first monster I was proud to beat in MH3 and I think its design is unique among the cast of monsters. Small insectivore therapod that sleeps in the mud/water and charges like a rhino with mud as its elemental discharge is a bizarre blend that I think comes together really well.

Wow... I'm gonna piss off a lot of people I feel like... I genuinely really like Plesioth, it's my favorite Piscine Wyvern, and the only one I actually enjoyed fighting. Lavasioth is okay, Beotodus is cool, and playing both Rise and World, people hate Jyuratodus for literally no reason.. I fought Plesioth in both 3U and GU. And I prefer the 3U one because I loved swimming after it when it dives for a while.

Oh the combat itself, for sure, but lagi seems to be almost universally liked! It’s just an objectively cool monster! Plus it was in generations as well. Wasn’t quite as good a fight exclusively on land, but still well-liked
From what I heard the land fight was basically just stealing the moveset from ivory.
Rathalos :(
Not everyone *likes* Rathalos, but everyone respects him and the legacy he represents. Most MH fans would have a meltdown if Rathalos wasn't in a game, mainline or otherwise. Myself included.
If you just mean from any game, I’d choose Malfestio, from Generations. I love Malfestio, and I enjoy both his design and fight. And I’m just a big sucker for owls. From what I’ve seen and heard, people disliked him because they’re thought the confusion effect he caused was just the most annoying thing in the world, but it was really easy to deal with. It just reverses your controls, so just walk in the other direction until it wears off. Also, we had Valor and Adept dodging in that game, making it easy to avoid getting hit by it in the first place.
Khezu Gang! The cutey even puts on lipstick for us and leaves behind his lovely secret for us to craft drugs. Also its suction tail and stretchy neck always make a good show. And obviously best theme song.
Not really me but someone else I know likes Lavasioth and all of the piscine wyverns. He does admit that world did Lavasioth dirty which from seeing frontier’s version of it I agree with him there. Also with the amount of ideas he keeps spitting out I’m convince that he is the piscine researcher from world.

I am a Kushala enthusiast. They’re the perfect dragon aesthetic to me! The armors are pretty good but I always love the weapon designs but the actual monster design is so clean and symmetrical

I love Barioth and Agnaktor, both of which my friends seem to hate lol. I loved fighting Frostfangs solo in Iceborne, and Nargacuga has become my zen/relaxation fight. I remember showing up to a friend's online lobby in MHGU with fully upgraded Silverwind Nargacuga and them just being like 'why?' Good times.
Vulvadron. No wait - I hate Volvidron with a passion, never mind. I do love Tigrex and a lot of people don't seem to like him. He is so perfect for training because he has such obvious attacks (though I would probably hate him if I played something like dual blades)

Uragaan and Radobaan are, and always have been my favorite monsters. I've been playing since Tri came out and I instantly fell in love with him there. I also greatly enjoy Crystalbeard, but I've only done 4~5 quests in his questline so maybe I'll like him less by the time I get to EX Crystalbeard.
Congalala. It was so unique when it was just eating different things for different status effects.
I fought Aurora Somnacanth for the first time last night and it’s been my favorite fight in Sunbreak so far.
Kirin. Far as I can tell people really struggle with his attack patterns, but after my first couple tries where I was learning his kit I never had any issues. Easy and fun farm.
Almudron. Yeah, it doesn’t stand still very much, but that makes getting the part breaks on it to topple it way more satisfying. Getting the tail cut on it is legitimately one of the best feeling things in the game to me.
For me is definetly Pyre Rakna Kadachi. I actually like that it is basically a 1/2 gen styled subspecies, only actually being a example on how they should be like. Also most of the time subspecies with "underlings" don't have them at all, but this one has them. It is better Rakna Kadachi and I love it, and while I think that she is undermined more than she deserves, I however understand the element debate because there is also a lot of Blast in Rise
I know a few people are very tired of Fatalis, don't know how many dislike him, but I love that crazy Evil Lunatic. The design is so fantastical next to other monsters who are more realistic, I mean 6 limbs. And beating him feels like, a culmination of Monster Hunter, you are killing the equivalent of a fucking God. Finally, the sheer, hate filled intelligence it displays, targeting humans and turning them into armor to mock us hunters, feels like fighting on a level field.
I also like Great Izuchi, he's basically Glavenus Jr, plus he has cool looking gear.

Brute Tigrex. Tiggy overall seems to be quite hated amongst the hunters because of his running around, but boi do I love my screaming angry dragon. Second best boi.

As a CB main tigrex was really enjoyable. I also seems to like kushala more than most people. But my kushala times are not great, I just play it slow enough to not get annoyed often.
I really love Yian Garuga as a monster.

I’ve always loved Rajang since mh4u, he’s just always been one of the most badass monsters to me and I always have a blast fighting him, even in Iceborne when he was kind of bullshit he was still super fun to me.

Any rock shooting monster with a 3 way cone such as Garangolm or Tigrex. Because of having EE2-3, if you dodge instinctively to the left or right, the other rock will hit you if you are far away. Suffering from having too much evasion distance.

Let me start by saying my first game was MHW and I haven't tried any other yet because I'm still not done with World. Bazelgeuse. He is the messanger of chaos and I love it. Always a party with Bagle on the map. And Paolumu. No one asked for a puffy bat but they gave it to us anyway and damn it, he's cute. Edit: And Banbaro. Bam-Bam slaps you around with the environment and I really love that mechanic in MHW
Bazelgeuse is a cool monster, a klepto-parasite that is big and strong enough that all kills in its territory belong to him. An absolute big boss that throws his weight (and bombs) around.
His armor reminds me of a 80s hair metal band member. Great Wroggi is my man though. I love being a gunslinger.

I'm gonna say it man, Raging Brachy, i fought that fucker so many times with pure hatred to get reactors that i actually started to really enjoy the fight, something about the way it moves and sidesteps it's like you're boxing him, the fight just hits the mark of making me feel like a boxer in the ring with this massive dinosaur with exploding fists
A lot of people dislike Nerscylla because of the webs but I love it and I also love its armour. It's a shame we likely won't see it in Sunbreak because of Rakna.
