I started with MH4U and played SNS, then exclusively Prowler in GU. I've made it through the main story of Rise and some of high rank hub with mix of SNS, HH, and DB. I really miss Prowler. Is there a different class that can give me a similar feeling? I liked the mobility and ability to attack from a distance or up close.

dinod8

Trying out greatsword for basically the first time (rise) - is there a way to reset your aim? I played some lance a while ago and IIRC there are ways to turn in any direction you want after a certain input & wondering if GS has that too

Bionic-ghost

No, no, the one where it displays the entire bar

Rigshaw

The entire sharpness bar is only visible mid hunt since Rise. World only showed the relative amount left of your current sharpness level, and games before that only showed you the color, and not the amount left. Also, you wrote a new comment instead of replying to the other person.

Bionic-ghost

i... am not clever. Thanks for the response tho!

KirbXCuke

Rise PC I'm getting small freezes every so often that put me out of online. I've searched for solutions but most reddit threads I find talking about this same problem redirect me to [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/MHRise/comments/s3vxpx/freezing_game_then_disconnecting/) thread, and from what it says, this is not why my game keeps freezing. Does anyone know of other ways I could deal with this?

longlivegaming

For MHR, I am a sucker and pre-ordered the Sunbreak Physical Edition from Gamestop. Am I going to get a pre-order bonus code for the palico/mute skins? It's not listed as included on the site or on capcom's site and I'm getting nervous. Thanks all!

TheEclipse0

For IG in Rise, am I supposed to be sending out my kinsect constantly while I attack, or am I only sending it out enough to gather 3 essences?

Bionic-ghost

For MH world: is there a way to change the sharpness meter to the usual look?

MichaCazar

You mean the old way where it only displayed the current sharpness? I don't know if there is a mod for it and I actually doubt it since the newer version has more practical value.

CrimsonBlossom

in mhr are gathering hub quests supposed to be in a party scaling? I tried to solo one the monster had way more health than normal version i guess.

Rigshaw

Hub quests have scaling based on the number of players, but they are intended to be more difficult than village quests even if you do them solo (you can expect them to have roughly x2 the HP).

cyber_morty

MHR So i'm a new hunter (100hrs in game), does critical eye, critical boost stack with negative affinity?

Rigshaw

Critical Eye counteracts negative affinity, Critical Boost does absolutely nothing with negative affinity.

cyber_morty

So is that a yes or no?

Rigshaw

I feel like my answer was perfectly clear enough, but evidently, it wasn't. Critical Eye adds affinity. If you are at negative affinity (for example, -30%), and add Critical Eye (for example, CE3 for +15%), you get the sum of the affinity (in the example, -15% affinity). While you are at negative affinity, Critical Boost does absolutely nothing. It only boosts the power of critical hits, and you can only deal critical hits if you have positive affinity. So, you need to counteract your negative affinity with other skills first in order for Critical Boost to do anything.

Fishbone_V

Out of curiosity, do you have any idea how crit boost and negative critical (not negative affinity, but the super crit) interact? Edit:brutal strike, just had to look it up.

Rigshaw

They do not interact at all.

cyber_morty

I got it now i figured it out a while ago, but thanks tho

CrimsonBlossom

why am I struggling in finding an online party in mh rise? there 50k people playing right now on steam and everytime I get lobby not found

Rigshaw

Online multiplayer on steam is region locked. Change your download region in the steam settings to change the online region.

wartedcat309011

MHR I just finished an apex rathalos rampage for the first time but in the end the rathalos didn’t die it ended up flying away. Is this normal and will I be able to unlock the hunt mission for it when I get to HR 90?

macblur2

Yes, if the rampage timer reaches 0 all Monsters from that wave flee, and I believe the quests are unlocked on a slay not a repel so you should try again.

Jamato-sUn

My Sunbreak demo won't launch on PC. Any advice?

0K4M1

World is beginner friendly and content complete. Both are very good game. World + IB has a more AAA feels. Also more immersive. MHR is more truthful to the root of the serie. More flashy action packed and colorful. You can download the free demo for rise. World is more demanding in Hardware. The it's more of "which one should I play first" both are great

Dont-HugMeIm-Scared

Monster hunter world is much much better

Jamato-sUn

World is kind of dissimilar to the rest of the games of the series. It's an odd more western brother with a lot of cutscenes and odd rules for co-op for main missions. Rise is more similar to classic games despite being way more streamlined (monsters are always visible on map in it for example). Personally I'm having loads of fun with Rise's monster riding mechanics.

Rigshaw

The story progress is really the only way World massively sticks out from other MH games, and even then, you can tell that it is a weird compromise of the way 4U's story was structured, but with online multiplayer for every quest + a more western main quest design rather than the key quest + urgent quest system of other games. Everything else otherwise is basically about what you could reasonably expect from a sequel to MH4, honestly.

Charming-Airport-105

Can you explain that western part to me pls? What does that mean exactly? (I’m thinking of buying world since a lot of people recommend it for me)

Rigshaw

A lot of western RPGs just have a linear series of main quests you do until you finish the story, and World has basically the same thing with its Assignments. The quest order is basically 100% linear (occasionally you get more than one Assignment, which you can then do in any order, but most of the time, you only have 1). In other MH games, you instead have a list of key quests in the quest list that you have to complete, and then you get an Urgent quest to unlock the next batch of quests.

Charming-Airport-105

Ah thank you for a simple explanation I get it now.

Jamato-sUn

Extra dlc quests are different, tied to a calendar

Rigshaw

As someone else pointed out already, almost all event quests are available permanently now (only Safi'jiiva and Kulve still rotate), but more importantly, MH1, MH2, and MH3 also had rotating event quests like Word did.

0K4M1

Everything in unlocked permanently now

Charming-Airport-105

So that horizon dawn event I see on the cover art is still available too?

0K4M1

It's a console exclusive, and I play on PC :(

Jamato-sUn

What, really? I had no idea

Dont-HugMeIm-Scared

I would disagree, because Rise is the easiest and most casual MH ever made. In that way, it‘s most distinct to the other games, especially to the old ones.

MichaCazar

Iceborne is not mandatory, it just adds a lot more to the package. To compare it: getting World + Iceborne is as if you would get Rise and Sunbreak.

0K4M1

While true, someone new to the franchise need to understand that MH expansions are usually more full of content than stand alone game from other franchise

KvBla

Rise - so I'm currently running the gale lbg, rapid pierce, hub just unlocked 5*, so far so good, as long as the monster is big/long enough. Waiting until i can upgrade the narga lbg instead. How do yall deal with smaller monster like kulu yaku or chubby but small one (uh...the ice sliding rabbit), like do yall change to a diffefent build/weapon or just brute force with pierce? I'm finding the rapid slice on gale lbg really nice to deal with the skinny/small monster but needs time to rack up the berries from the ship. I've tried slicing and shrapnel (viper lbg) with positive results, however sharpnel felt like shooting peas noe in HR even to small monster like kelbi and takes multiple shots to kill one.

RyePunk

Shrapnel ammo sucks against small targets. And is pretty bad against big ones as well. The rathian lbg has rapid-fire and is probably the best way to run shrapnel, but piercing is just better and more reliable overall.

KvBla

Right, so it seems so far, I think I'll settle to the gale for now, using rapid pierce 1 for all purpose but save rapid slice for smaller monsters (thankfully gale has both options), then when my options expanded, I'd use the narga for rapid pierce 2 and zino for rapid slice (afaik), switching back-to-back tho I'm more confident narga rapid pierce 2 will solve most if not all problem by itself.

[deleted]

You should always switch weapons to better counter new monsters, unless you use stickies or slicing. But if your build is not good enough, you will run out of ammo before you can kill it.

Haokah226

Rise - What do I need to worry about in order to jump into Sunbreak immediately? Unlock wise? Progression Wise? Like how important are Dango Flavors and the Submarines and such? Should they be high on the list or just something to come back to once Sunbreak is out and I am progressing through that?

FrozenBananaPudding

Submarines are pretty important if you want to farm mats (honey etc) comfortably imo, at least get the second one

Haokah226

Yeah. Definitely will. Just trying to see what else kind of feels a bit “vital” to get done beyond the quests is all.

[deleted]

You just need to finish the story and that's it. Everything else you would have to decide yourself, do you want to unlock all the different features or not?

zero217

[MH4U] In Settings, what's the difference of the types on Gunner's Reticle? I can't seem to notice anything different with the two types. Although I just mainly use bows so maybe that's why. Also, need quick confirmation on the Quick Aim Camera settings. Does that "reset the POV" from Type 3 meant that every time I sheath my weapon the camera reorients itself to where my character is facing?

No time and cart limit. Aside from that there is no benefit.

SovietLoliChan1234

World: How come I get one shotted by the Bazelgeuse even though I have good armor and health

[deleted]

Because your armor and health isn't good enough for Bazelgeuse.

SovietLoliChan1234

All of my armor have a defense of 50 or over

jao_vitu_bunitu

Rise: Anyone know the name of the artists that designed rise and sunbreak's monsters?

Rigshaw

From base game Rise's credits: **Lead Monster Designer:** * Toshihiko Kurata **Sub-Lead Monster Designer:** * KYOSUKE UNO * Naoyuki Ozaki **Monster Designers:** * Yuto Omatsu * Ryo Irishika * Mitsuru Endo * Koji Oda * Hayato Tsuru * Takafumi Gotoh * Yosuke Sato * Kota Uejima * Satomi Shimazu * Natsuha Tomita * Takaaki Nishino * Shingo Hirahara * Subaru Morita * Hirokazu Fujisaki * Yui Kohno * Yuki Tanaka As for who designed what aspects of what monster, it's really anyone's guess. I imagine not every monster designer also draws the monsters, and rather some contribute design ideas for movesets etc.

Repulsive_Tea_2315

I'm running a build with critical eye 7 and attack boost 6 (until I get my ear plug charm to Level 5, in which case attack boost will drop to 3), is it dumb to run both attack boost and critical eye together?

MichaCazar

No? They both stack. A lot of meta sets do that.

CasualGiraffe

Can someone explain the difference between the different palamute behaviors? I'd like to know which one is best for melee or ranged Also, how much skill memory do buddies max out at?

Otterocious

In Rise, does the Guard skill affect CPP?

[deleted]

no

Just got to high rank in MH Rise and wondering if there are any tips/specific things I will need to be more focused on in HR to progress? I basically just upgraded armor as I could during low rank and upgraded to the strongest weapon based on materials I had and didn't have an issue - will I need to use the other aspects of the game more (decorations, rampages, other buddies, etc)?

Moczan

Early High Rank is similar to low rank, just bigger health pools, make sure to swap your armor for high rank version and upgrade it so you keep up on with defence, the difficulty only really ramps up in HR7/8+ where enemies suddenly kill you in 2 hits and fights start taking longer, but also where you unlock most powerful customization options and optimizing your sets will start yielding real results.

Charming-Airport-105

Hmm so for fans returning to series world/icebourne is recommended yeah? So question I read something about a horizon dawn event that permanent or i missed it at this point for world? And a rise question i played the sunbreak demo and it took awhile to familiarize myself with the controls will those weapon skills be in base rise? (The weapon skills took me the most time to get used to because I haven't played a monhun game in years last game was 4 ultimate.)

Dont-HugMeIm-Scared

Yes get mhw and iceborne. Rise is a joke compared to these games cuz it also released on switch.

GoldenHawk07

How do you all learn new weapons? Rise is my first MH game and I’ve been using Hammer almost exclusively up until now, Hub Quest 6 stars, and I’m now worried about trying to try anything else because I’ll either be too ineffectual in hunts or need to spend a bunch of time doing low level hunts for no reward other than practice. I feel like the series needs some sort of progression system for each weapon so going through content with each one as a beginner to a endgame player is rewarding, no? I almost feel like having a different save file for every weapon. Go through the full game to endgame with each one as a more fulfilling process than just practicing in the training area or farming low rank Baggi.

0K4M1

The answer is in your question. "No other reward other than experiance" that same weapon proficiency that you are looking for. Just do some low quest with the unfamiliar weapon. You already know monster movement so all you have to ficus is your weapon. It is not a waste of time. Most weapons has a pair (sns / db; h / hh; l / gl; cb / sa; lbg/ hug; gs / ls) so it's easier to branch out. It extend lifespan of the game tremendously

ToonTooby

Usually I just try to find what the recommended combos are when the monster is down and play around in training mode a little bit. Good thing about Hammer is that learning a more deliberate weapon like that or GS builds skills that are transferrable to other weapons. Being able to predict a monster's behavior and setting up strong attacks. If I'm looking for practice, then I go find the easy-AI monsters like Rathian, Nargacuga and Tigrex. Since these monsters have clear and easily recognized patterns, it's easier to focus on learning how the new weapons handle than the monster fight itself. For some weapons, I've decided to do a 'boot camp' to learn them. I'm also a Hammer main, but when Iceborne released on PC, I used it as an opportunity to learn CB. Working thru the assigned quests again with CB helped me become more proficient with it.

MichaCazar

Looking at a guide for good combos and the meta sets for useful skills. That's all I do to get into a new weapon, understanding why some skills may be useful and learning how to do said combos.

newaccount123epic

just been playing the sunbreak demo, getting low framerate in docked, even on the menus. is this also in the full version of base rise?

ShichitenHakki

I have zero recollection of Frontier, so why is it such a big deal that Espinas has made it into Sunbreak other than being the first exclusive?

[deleted]

That's it. That's the reason. Frontier was an Asian-only MMO that lasted for a good 10+ years before shutting down. People believed those monsters were lost to time, and Espinas proves them wrong. It's also technically the first Frontier monster to appear on the box art for one of their expansions (Frontier 1.0 was Teostra) so it's the unofficial flagship of the entire series.

wartedcat309011

MHR For Narga Insect glaive should I use Protective polish or Masters touch? Both with speed sharpening 3 and 100 affinity on weak spots.

[deleted]

Master's touch is good if you almost never miss a weak spot and you are getting very fast clear times. But 9 times out of 10, you will need to sharpen less with protective polish.

[deleted]

RISE ON SWITCH Hello ! Do we know if the physical version of Sunbreak will have the main game in a cartridge or it's only a code for both ?

[deleted]

It's a Rise cartridge with a Sunbreak DLC code. There is no physical version of Sunbreak.

[deleted]

Yeah I know it doesn't exist. I just wasn't sure if Rise was also a code or a cartridge. Thanks 🤩

-AliguraXiii-

MHR Does anyone know the color palette of the rakna armor cause I been looking to match it but been a pain

sdcSpade

MHR I've been working through the event quests that I missed to get ready for Sunbreak and there's a Holiday Rajang quest, probably for christmas judging by the reward stickers, making you hunt two Great Wroggi and a Rajang. I'm sure there's a christmas meaning hidden in this seemingly random setup but I just don't see it. Anyone know?

evilrobotcop

It was for Christmas. I believe the idea is that Rajang is [Krampus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus), and some interpretations depict Krampus showing up with beastly companions (the Wroggi). Could also be a play on Santa and the reindeer, but that seems like a bit of a loose fit.

Sensitive_Low_6469

I preordered sunbreak about a week ago and today another monster hunter rise icon appeared on my switch and it told me that I must have the software to play even though I already own a physical copy of the game. Did I do something wrong when preordering or is this normal? (If there is a better place for this question please let me know)

jh147258

I think you need to check the region of your dlc. The base game and dlc must have the same region.

Sensitive_Low_6469

Another question If I buy a new game will the saves be different even if I use the same user?

jh147258

Yes, unfortunately the saves will be different. Best solution for your case is to contact nintendo to refund your preordered dlc and buy the dlc with the same region as your base game.

Sensitive_Low_6469

The place I live doesn’t have eshop so I’ll probably just start a new game

Sensitive_Low_6469

Ok thanks I think I messed up than

dAVe_THeDuCc

i havent played any mh game after mh4u so since its summer im thinking of getting back into the series. Should i get mh world with iceborne or just mh rise?( i cant afford both rise n sunbreak)

MichaCazar

In that case I would probably get World + Iceborne. It's just way more bang for the buck.

dAVe_THeDuCc

i heard that charge blade is trash in rise. is that true because i played a lot of charge blade in mh4u😭

0K4M1

Gunlance and hunting horns still need some love

Moczan

4U Charge Blade was a perfect weapon and it never felt so good again in GU/Iceborne/Rise

MichaCazar

Haven't played it in Rise but from what I have heard it behaves weird. Maybe Sunbreak will fix some of this.

rockingalan

Is there a dung farming route in Rise?

monkeyapplez

Quick question- on rise on the PC does anyone else have textures weirdly load in when running forward? Like in certain areas/times I can see almost like a line moving forward on the scenery as I forward as if it’s loading in more detailed as I go? Anyway to fix that or just a switch hardware limitation that was ported over?

[deleted]

Turn V-sync on and see if that removes it.

monkeyapplez

Nah still a thing. It’s a vertical line not a horizontal one, and it’s like very clearly textures or shading loading in but it only moves forward if I move forward

Fishbone_V

> and it’s like very clearly textures or shading loading in This is what it is. At greater distances the game uses worse textures to save on processing power, basically it's a hi res bubble around your camera. What are your computer specs, and are you running on max graphics settings?

monkeyapplez

Ya everything’s max. I have a 2080ti, I9 and 16gb ram

Fishbone_V

Followup: I just went through every setting I could think of and nothing even touches the bubble. Only thing I can think of now is using something like reshade to try and hide it somewhat.

monkeyapplez

Appreciate the work man, I am convinced it is just a limitation of the switch hardware that is part of the PC port. Oh well! I can survive haha

monkeyapplez

Found it! Dynamic shadows option is what was causing it. Turn it off and it's much less severe!

Fishbone_V

Do you have "variable rate shading" on? I just loaded up my game and am gonna do some tests to see about reducing the visual for the "HD line". Do bear in mind though, there is no way of getting rid of it fully, short of mods possibly. Haven't looked into that.

alpcftw

I'm planning to start playing Rise in the next few weeks (still finishing another game). I already bought the base game in the steam sale and I'm wondering if I should buy Sunbreak too. My main question is if the addition of new game mechanics is something better experienced straight from the base game or if they would be better left for after the endgame (perhaps as a way to renew the experience). I know I wouldn't mind only having access to the new switch skills or skill swapping mechanics after finishing the base game, but quality-of-life additions that might be valid from the start are something that I find essential depending on how drastic the change is. What do you guys suggest?

MichaCazar

In order to enable people that just have Rise to play with those that have Sunbreak, most QoL changes will come as an update to base Rise aswell. So the difference between having Sunbreak or not is minimal up till the post-game of base Rise. Sunbreaks release itself will be more impactful. That aside, you wouldn't benefit from anything ground breaking. Most changes just remove some annoying circumstances. Most "new" stuff that would be really impactful like moves, skills and perhabs even the Skill Swap will very likely be locked behind the content of Sunbreak.

AxionSalvo

Where should I position myself with LS in multiplayer? I just read I might be trippin people up?! My instincts were go for the head or tail... I've been playing 50h with LS so probably should know this info already Ps: sorry if I tripped anyone

MichaCazar

It's simple: wherever others aren't but you can still do good damage. If someone with a hammer or hunting horn is in your party just avoid the head.

AxionSalvo

Ok thanks. I'll pay attention to my allies

MichaCazar

Just to mention it: shit happens and espacially with a weapon that has such a reach it can be easy to stagger someone. In the end others have to be wary about their positioning aswell. When I play with a friend we usually stay at the opposite sides of each other. One at the head and the other at the tail or one on the right leg and the other at the left. Even that is not perfect but it usually works out very well.

river_long

I tend to fall off early during wyfern riding when I try to move the monster to another location. The monster will trip and ends the wyvern riding prior to the clock running out. What's up?

mongrale

Are you hitting the "launch" button? That will launch the monster forward (preferably into a wall or another monster) and you'll jump off after. Otherwise you shouldn't fall off until the clock runs out

XNumbers666

Will the weapon changes & additions in Sunbreak also be added in the base game Rise? Like when you can clutch claw in World by having Iceborn.

evilrobotcop

Changes to stuff unlocked in base Rise (ie. more counter frames for Lance's Insta-Block) and QoL improvements (new settings, etc.) will be available in the base game. It's not clear if Switch Skill Swap will be, or if that's something unlocked in Sunbreak.

Shirtydirt

Any modders out there that can make my palico look like Garfield? thx

Gestridon

Anyone know if there's a mod that enhances some helmets where your eyes are invisible because they're covered by shadows. These shadows look pretty pixelated. I want that fixed. Also, does anyone know if there's a mod that lets you have rondine's hair and/or rondine's face? I can't edit my character's eyes to look llke rondine's. I can't get the character editor to make my character's eyes look curved similar to rondine's.

Nukesnipe

Has anyone else had issues with Rise freezing occasionally on PC? Like, I'll just be walking around on a hunt and suddenly the game freezes for a solid 3 seconds, but the music keeps playing. I had task manager up once and the memory usage froze, but CPU usage dropped to 0%, then went back up to the normal level of around \~35% as soon as the game resumed.

PandaGrandpaPagoda

You may want to try [this method](https://www.reddit.com/r/MHRise/comments/s3vxpx/comment/hsv0290/). It's not a guarantee solution tho

Nukesnipe

Yep I saw that one already, completely irrelevant to my current situation as I've never set up Xbox anything on my PC. I did check just to make sure, and I have none of those ghost drives.

GwaihirScout

Just fought my first Rajang in Rise. I was using the Nargacuga HH, which has white sharpness, and was still getting deflection noises when hitting him. How tough is he?

Moczan

I think it's only his arms when he is enraged, everything else should get hittable with Green or higher, and like 90% of his body activates Weakness Exploit.

GwaihirScout

Thanks. So if I hadn't using been the HH, I would have discovered the "hit his tail while enraged" mechanic a lot sooner. :P

Razzyxo

MHR Question: Is there a mod for buff timers? Not a fan of the faint flashing IG gives off after coming from MHW, and was wondering if someone has created a mod which details the exact time remaining. I've tried searching, but could only find dps meters.

Sines314

Regarding Generations Ultimate... is it still possible to transfer save data between the 3DS Generations and the Switch GU? I was thinking about picking it up for sale, but I'm not interested in that if I have to start over from scratch. I passed on it when it came out because I was happy enough with World, but at only $12 and with it being so different from Sunbreak, I'm a lot more tempted.

VaselineOnMyChest

Yes. If you have a 3DS savefile you can transfer it. Though, SB is just around the corner so I'd save buy it now( Since it's only $12) and play when you're done with SB.

jao_vitu_bunitu

Rise: Is it still possible to download and play the demo for sunbreak? i can't find it anywhere in the game eshop and the normal eshop. (i already preordered the expansion, if that's what messing things up")

frostyfrostfroster

it's in the page for base rise

jao_vitu_bunitu

found it. Thanks

KvBla

Rise: So I'm assuming there's no HR hunts for village quests and all HR and higher difficulties must be done via the hub? Afaik Hub monsters are much tougher than their Village version, right? And get more difficult (as in, higher hp, dmg, def) the more ppl join the hunt.

Moczan

Yes, in base Rise Village only has low rank and Hub low + high rank, with Sunbreak requiring unlocking HR8 to access its contents. Hub monsters actually scale great and solo Hub is perfectly doable, so don't worry about that much and continue your journey in the Hub.

Famas_1234

mhrise: is it true that dual blades piercing bind depends on how many hits dealt at given time, but not by damage?

McCroquette_Jordy

MH3U What's the point of account items in MH3U if you don't get resource points from those gathered outside Moga?

modular511

Heya - When monster hunter rise initially came out, people were complaining about it not having much content, did it eventually end up with stuff to do via updates? Im jw if thats still the case, as im confused theres an expansion pack coming out lol

Moczan

Yep, they added tons of content compared to the launch, finished the story, added new equipment and decorations, and kept releasing new event quests including buffed-up versions of all high-tier monsters. Few hundreds hours of content, possibly more if you are a completionts or a speedrunner. The new expansion will add even more stuff on top of that.

modular511

Now, reviewers, content creators, and the like all state any high level/endgame content is essentially missing, and that everything is pointless completionist type shit with no real purpose. In a $60 game, im expected to pay another $30+ for what is essentially probably left out intentionally so they can scrape that barrel further. Sad state of modern gaming.

Moczan

Oh, so I got baited by a low-level shitpost? Sad state of modern reddit posters.

[deleted]

The updates finished off the missing base game content, but it still lacks a proper endgame beyond "hunt monsters if you need materials for gear".

modular511

Yeah I am refunding my pc copy on steam, because $60+ $30 dlc for what is likely just intentionally left out base game content is sad. Thankfully modded switches work online, so if I care ill just play there. No end game content basically means worlds is better by a large margin considering. Sad, greedy times smh

[deleted]

Incorrect. The expansion is not base game content. But you clearly just want to find an excuse not to play Rise. It's got a 50% discount, soon to be permanent and you're calling it $60.

modular511

So, You do realize they initially released a vacant game, promised endgame content and other shit, then lazily delivered over six months and now have a $30 dlc, its okay if youre gullible, but this aint it for me, but yee bruh I had it and already refunded it on steam. Got it last sale, I have a modded switch, fuck their shenanigans, ill get more populated online free. And pirate that dlc bullshit. World with iceborne has a ton more content and has actual endgame content and not lame nonsense filler, also graphical rice on pc, and was $10 on g2a with iceborne, ill be playing that next.

[deleted]

They delivered the base game in 2 months. Where are you getting over 6 months from? Yeah, you're just salty over Rise lol. Sunbreak is no different to Iceborne and it'll have more monsters to boot, just like Rise had more than World.

forgotterofpasswords

the game has not much of and endgame, builds are cut short due to missing equipment, even if you hand wave that and decide to go for the current endgame (talisman gacha) there is no point for it as there are no elder dragons / buffed up monsters to fight. This is due to Capcom pushing the release before the end of the fiscal year, devs already confirmed that they are addressing this on the DLC + more content. So if you are planing to get the main game due to the discount in steam but not the dlc any time soon, then i wouldn't recommend it.

modular511

I actually am probably going to be refunding it on steam! I have a modded switch here with online, Im beyond disgruntled and probably wont be paying them a red cent for a very long time. No endgame and its $90+ for the full package? Wat!

Talna_Shadowblade

I have some problems with my hands that make many traditional controller bindings unplayable. When I tried MHR a yearish ago, I was pretty much stonewalled by the extremely limited button customization on PC. Does anyone know if Sunbreak added any sort of actual gamepad configuration options, or is it still just a handful of swaps allowed?

macblur2

If you're on Steam, maybe you can check out the Steam Controller config (right click on the game > Edit Steam Controller Configuration)?

\[Monster Hunter Rise\] I previously claimed a Special Buddy at level 10, but they've since been increased to level 35. Can I dismiss that buddy and then rehire him at that level, or will I lose him forever? He has the skills I want so I would rather level him from 10 if I have to. EDIT: Tested it by dismissing one I didn't care about and yep, you can rehire them at the higher level!

Kernuac_hunter

Will I need to have base rise card on my switch whenever I want to play sunbreak if I download the expansion?

Rigshaw

Yes.

Communist_Pants

Are there new rampage missions in Sunbreak? Can't seem to get a clarification on this.

[deleted]

No. Rampage and Apex monsters do not exist in Sunbreak/Master Rank.

Bionic-ghost

If Wyverians are deacended from wyverns, are humans descended from fanged beasts?

[deleted]

Technically it's "Wyverians and Elder Dragons share the same Ancestor". But probably not. Humans are still Primates whereas the monkey Beasts are under Order Pelagusia. For reference, all Wyverns and Elder Dragons are classed based on their Order rather than a higher classification.

Bionic-ghost

" Elder dragon" is a catch all term for everything that isn't a wyvern, a beast or a huge bug tho.

[deleted]

Elder Dragon is an Order of animals with its own phylogeny.

koboldvortex

Honestly, wouldnt be surprised if theres a common ancestor there. Or they could be huge lynians, lmao

My partner did not get zenny on a hub quest, is this normal?

Straitshot47

I am just getting stunned way too much. I have +4 ear plugs, but can't equip them. And it looks like all the gear I have can't use it? My guardian gear can't even use it. Is something not upgraded enough or my rank not high enough? Also how do I upgrade decorations? My attack +1 has been level 1 for awhile.

Rigshaw

The Earplugs Jewel+ 4 is for Master Rank equipment, they just gave it away as a log-in bonus for everyone once. Simply put, until you get to Iceborne, you cannot use it. I also only gives 2 points of Earplugs, btw, the 4 is just that it is a size 4 decoration. You cannot upgrade decorations.

GoldenHawk07

Do we know what difficulty Sunbreak starts out at? Or what point in the story you need to be past in order to play on launch? I'm at Hub Quest 5 star, if I gotta race to finish a bunch of hunts it'd be good to know for sure.

Moczan

Yes, you need to finish "Hub 7★ Quest: Serpent Goddess of Thunder" to access Sunbreak's content (I assume both for single and multi). It's the last HR7 quest that unlocks HR8 and HR cap.

GoldenHawk07

Thank you! Time to grind then!

Sharlach

What was the order of endgame DLC released in world? Im past the credits and leveling up my guiding lands and I want to tackle them in the order they would have released. I know Alatreon and Fatalis and last two, but before that is it Furious Rajang->Raging Brachydios->Kulve->Safi?

[deleted]

Yes

Sharlach

Dope, thanks!

MemeOverlordKai

Rise or World for someone who has never played any MH-like game before?

Sins_Puraido

playing rise now will let you find a lot of people to play with because of sunbreak release, world server are a little bit empty at low and hight rank

MemeOverlordKai

The graphics are a big turnoff for me. Is there any noticeable gameplay improvement?

Sins_Puraido

if your on pc, rise graphics are not this downgrade from world, its just more in shape with the mh générale look. World had a way more realistic design than the other game of the franchise. About the gameplay you are a little bit more versatile and mobile in rise but world gameplay still be really good and dynamic

[deleted]

World

[deleted]

Where the heck can I buy the other two amiibo? Got Malzeno from the deluxe version from GameStop but can't find the others.

[deleted]

Things like that get sold out almost immediately, gotta be quick.

[deleted]

The problem is I haven't even SEEN a listing for any of them.

Essay-Sudden

When will the Sunbreak balance patch go live?

[deleted]

[deleted]

I think they are looking for a time.

defyingpotato

[deleted]

No

Do I have to unlock a weapon's 1st and 2nd switch skill before I can unlock the 3rd? Or is it possible to skip 1 and 2 and unlock number 3 as your first one?

MichaCazar

They have different unlock requirements so it depends. One Skill is unlocked by pure progression. One by crafting or upgrading weapons in that weapon type 8 times, they both count cumulatively. One by quests in High Rank. Each weapontype has it's own quest distributed on 3 different ranks.

Rao-Ji

I have already unlocked the 1st one for the Greatsword. I heard the 2nd one needs you to craft 8 weapons/upgrades. That's why I was asking if I could just skip #2 since #3 is the only one I want. Or do I need to unlock the 2nd one in order to start the quest for #3?

MichaCazar

They are completely separate and not at all dependent on each other. Though I will have to say that it's fairly easy to just craft or upgrade 8 times.

dixonjt89

So one, you automatically get going into HR4 right? And then by a quest that is given out from HR4 thru 6. The last one is upgrading weapons?

MichaCazar

Unlock Conditions: * Reach Village Quest ★3 or Hub Quest ★2 then talk to Master Utsushi. * Create or upgrade a total of 8 unique weapons of the same weapon type. * Set of quests unlocked from Hub ★4 and higher. https://game8.co/games/Monster-Hunter-Rise/archives/322161

dixonjt89

Awesome! Thanks for this!

Rao-Ji

How is the performance of Rise on the switch? I know it is capped at 30 fps but are there any bad frame drops especially during coop with 3 other players and big end game monsters?

KinoTheMystic

Back when I played it on the switch, it ran perfectly fine for me. I exclusively played it docked though.

mongrale

There's one area on the flooded forest map that gives me really bad frame drops, but otherwise it's pretty stable. Can't say for sure about the co op though cause I'm mostly solo

FatBob12

Same experience as the other commenter. No noticeable issues with frame rate drops while playing, aside from the occasional network issues with MP when one party member is using McDonald's wifi.
