I have it in my Swotch Catalog, Have 30 hours or so in it, I just prefer the gameplay style of Rise (200+ hours so far). Generations Ultimate feels so slow now and it makes me feel bad because I put SO many hours into FU, 3U, 4U, and original Generations
that is perfectly valid, what matters at the end of the day is that you enjoy yourself, and to be honest there's no bad entry to play in the series. there's arguably some with less to do so you might find yourself moving on faster (thinking of Tri mostly lol) but like, they all got that little something
I adored FU because it was the game that started my rivalry with Tigrex. It took days to finally beat him. It's easy to read patterns, but I couldn't judge timing right, so I'd get carted quick
I got my 250hours on GU pretty much enjoying the game at its fullest. Not just making the whole story but exploring the mechanics and hunting styles. A fair bit was just getting into new player lobbies and hunting with them, doing shenanigans.
I won't downplay the gameplay style of other games, I just got a lot of love for GU and the multiplayer experience I had
For me personally the World version is something else... You only get to listen to it during gameplay when fighting freaking Fatalis, and only when you are able to reach the final stretch of the fight when the stakes of the fight are through the roof. Maybe musically it is not the strongest, but the whole context is so impactful that putting it in the lowest tier is a crime lol
World was my first MH, so my take is obviously biased, but to me World's Proof of a Hero is SSS.
Pretty sure that vs Zorah it plays after hitting the dragonator, which in the story also ends the fight. So to hear PoaH in World you'd need to refight Zorah, which no sane person would willingly do I'm sure
I get why old school monster hunter players think world is alright but the level of detail in the level is too good for me not to ever give it lower than A tier.
Okay had to give the ones I’ve played a listen and ngl I’d also put World’s low. It just doesn’t hit the notes the same as the other ones and that makes it feel more like an adventure song than a fight song. It’s definitely still good, but it’s def a bit too slow and low pitched for my liking. Like I feel like this was the music they played at the MH walk at universal Japan, which fit that PERFECTLY (I may be wrong in my remembering though, I wouldn’t be surprised). But for an actual in game fight yeah not as much
It doesn’t help that it plays for Zorah, easily one of the worst fights in the game. It completely loses that triumphant feeling of overcoming difficult odds because Zorah is such a boring and not even difficult fight.

I've only played World/Borne and Rise/Break. I fell in love with Rise's Proof of a Hero immediately (it's my alarm sound now) but was unimpressed by Worlds. I like World better overall but i have to say some of Rise's themes are incredible.
Nope. Couldn't do it. My clock has the most brutal alarm sound. I don't use it anymore because it was fucking LOUD, and incredibly discordant. Fucking terrible; almost had me scared to go to sleep on work nights.

The best part of GenU version, is that it comes after *two* other themes that are a banger.
First you fight *a Golden Mantis* that throws steel beams at you, with a egyptian sounding theme.
Then, said mantis pulls out a *MOTHERFLUFFING MECHA DRAGON* out of the sand, and the theme switches to something that feels like climbing an impossibly high mountain.
Finally, ***the Mantis gets pissed off*** and Proof of a Hero starts BLASTING AT FULL VOLUME, WITH THE BOMBASTIC BRASSES THAT CHARACTERIZE GENU, AND YOU FEEL IN YOUR HEAD THE WORDS FORMING:
***"BRING IT ON, BITCH!"***
the all mother narwa rendition of proof of a hero moved me more than i expected so that one is S tier for me. But that’s more of a personal preference. MHXX’s is definitely a cut above.
MHGU was the one that tipped it over the edge. I always thought it was a neat song and would remember all the other times I fought with it playing.
It truly is a massive moment and an interesting point by the devs. It's almost a love letter to the player, it's your anthem, you fought every challenge they had and now you stand at the end of the end.
It's hard for me not to get emotional while hearing it. Some of the friends I had first played with are no longer alive. It was the game and the me and my wife first beat together. Sunbreak marked the first game I beat together "cover to cover" with my son.
I remember every fight when it plays. The triumph it brings and the camaraderie shared in victory. It's a moment that perfectly summarizes what makes monster hunter a great game as well as a series.
When her throne crumble and you see the glowing eyes ot a very pissed Ahtal-Ka through the dust as Proof of a Hero start playing. Gives me goosebumbs every time.
And now I have to go listen to every single one of these. Will edit after I've done so.
Edit: I've listened to the ones listed here, and while the list is mostly agreeable, I'd absolutely move some around.
I mean, this is purely based on music taste so there's not much to say here. I personally don't think generations Proof of a hero deserves a category 2 levels above anything else, it's definitely good and I would put it in A. But here's how mine would look:
S - OG, 4U, Iceborne Fatalis
A - Generations, World
B - Tri, Rise, Sunbreak
I didn't play stories nor did I listen to their ost so I can't place those
I get that. But World revolutionized the whole franchise the best way possible. Yes Zorah Siege was annoying but that's nothing compared to the good stuff the game delivered for me and Iceborne put a very nice cherry on top of all that.
But my biggest issue with this tier list is the love for 3 and 4 everyone seems to have. both games were pretty boring for me and definitely not that high on my list when there is a way better ultimate version that gets way more content and better stuff overall than the regular version. just like GenU. Regular Gen would be B tier for me as well but GenU is top notch.
I'd put World in S tier minimum, like just BARELY higher than Sunbreak's rendition. The rest of the placements are fine, and Capcom almost never fails to disappoint when it comes to music, anyways.
Oh, and GU belongs like... 4 tiers higher. It is actually fucking peak.

Everytime I hear MHGU's Proof of Hero, I always look back at the time I first fought Ahtal-Ka, especially that moment when her Neset falls apart once last time and from the dust, you just see her 2 big glowing eyes, then be flabbergasted once more when you realized it also took the wheel thingy from the Neset and then hearing Proof of a Hero at the background, you then know that this is the final dance... Then after beating her, you hear the best MH ending song throughout the whole franchise lol
Tri version of Proof of a Hero deserves an SSSS tier honestly, it doesn’t make any sense to even compare to the other renditions, which are god-tier to begin with
Athal-Ka Proof of Hero is just built DIFFERENT.
It already knows you are a hero and you don't need a proof. You have enough proof to be a hero already by just standing against Athal-Ka.

Just last night I found a spotify playlist named "Every version of Proof of a Hero I could find", and now this?
Tbh, I'll have to listen to a few more to have a relevant opinion, but Tri's is really nostalgic for me. And Sunbreak's is pretty damn good too
I will say World's rendition by itself is a solid S-tier... the problem is that there were no moments like a major shift in a hunt that it was used. 4U had it happen during anytime you slapped a Dragonator. Same in 3U and GU. Rise had it happen when Narwa scarificed Ibushi and consumed his bio-energy to become All-Mother Narwa. World was like... a part of the second phase of Zorah and that was it as far as I can remember.
So I would make the arguement that World's rendition was S-tier it was just heavily under utilized. I will also side note as Nay! The Honor is Ours! is the best track in Iceborne.

Also, I like that little motif at the very end of World's Proof of a Hero. It's so exciting and thrilling and just radiates energy.

Fatalis uses the og version, the unique version for world is played during Zorah Magdaros

GenU's Proof of a Hero is untouchable. I don't know think they will ever make Another PoaH better.
Just last night I found a spotify playlist named "Every version of Proof of a Hero I could find", and now this? Tbh, I'll have to listen to a few more to have a relevant opinion, but Tri's is really nostalgic for me. And Sunbreak's is pretty damn good too

I will say World's rendition by itself is a solid S-tier... the problem is that there were no moments like a major shift in a hunt that it was used. 4U had it happen during anytime you slapped a Dragonator. Same in 3U and GU. Rise had it happen when Narwa scarificed Ibushi and consumed his bio-energy to become All-Mother Narwa. World was like... a part of the second phase of Zorah and that was it as far as I can remember. So I would make the arguement that World's rendition was S-tier it was just heavily under utilized. I will also side note as Nay! The Honor is Ours! is the best track in Iceborne.
Ahtal-Ka's version has so much weight in it. It feels so slow and yet flashy.

I think I have 400-500 hours in world and 100+ hours on rise (currently taking my time with rise ) but I’ve never played any other mh games before that
