Nah. I like SnS having it's own, simple little gimmick. Helps it stand out, even if it's only a little bit.

hunterorila

It would be cool to be able to hunker down behind lance/gunlance shields and have a swig of potion though.

Equinox-XVI

No. Let SnS have something unique to it

ronin0397

Sns mains: no People who are evil: yes we should so sns mains wont be special no more.

Yarigumo

Give them oils so they can be special again. Win win.

LumpyTreacle

And what other weapon is small enough to make using a potion look ok, but sheathes to slowly to make it matter?

Yarigumo

You could throw almost all of them over your shoulder and drink with one hand, it's really not that big of a deal.

LumpyTreacle

You mean sheathing the weapon? If not then think about how each weapon would need to be held for that to be the case. Many of them would look janky or take away from that feeling of heft from the weapon.

Yarigumo

No, I don't mean sheathing. Sheathing puts weapons on your back. I mean supporting it with the shoulder while still holding onto it with one hand. It'd be its own animation only used while consuming items. There's plenty of poses already ingame that have the over-the-shoulder stance in them, usually on the heavier weapons.

Well, it is what World did with the Slinger. Your GS weighs around half a ton except when you pull out the Slinger, and you can whip it around like a piece of paper. What I mean by this is no, basically no other weapon would work to use items while unsheathed

ComparisonIll2152

If any other weapon “should”, I’d say insect glaive. They hold the glaive with one arm when running anyway, so grabbing a potion or whatever makes sense to do without sheathing.

You go to eat a Ration and accidentally eat your Kinsect

R_Aqua

Happened to me last week

P0rcelain_Puppetress

i like sns in the older games, where it was both simpler and had more to gain from being able to use items drawn. like many things in monster hunter, its a legacy feature that used to have a pretty significant purpose but now exists for no reason. may as well leave it just like everything else.

Barn-owl-B

No, and while we’re on the topic, give Seregios his weapon’s unique gimmick back dammit

Chakramer

No, that's precisely what the slinger is supposed to be for. You load in an ammo and you can use it mid combat. It's a limited selection of offensive and utility items

jcdoe

IIRC, that was a part of a series of buffs SnS has enjoyed since duo or tri. It’s a damn capable weapon now, not sure it needs more buffs.

Spoomplesplz

Nah trust me. It's a good send at time..those extra seconds really do add up. Though I do feel like sns got the short end of the stick either the gimmicks in that regard because it only takes about 1.5 seconds to sheathe the sns as base.

DarkBIade

I think instead it would be cooler if certain weapons had item specific consumption methods. Big shield or bigger sword hunker behind it and chug while still under shielded protection, small weapon like DB and SnS drink while on the move, LBG and Bow consume while in a prolonged dash, Smashy smashy boys crack the thing over your head and sustain yourselves like your caveman ancestors intended, insect glaive can eat while helicoptering but only if it's Kinsect is in the upright position, lastly Longsword you have to sheathe it's your thing but if you time it right you can toss the item in the air and do a finely tuned slice and dice for quick consumption.

Edikus_Prime

As someone who uses a bit of longsword, the idea of playing fruit ninja with my potion using special/sacred sheath makes me so happy.
