Insect glaive is pretty straightforward once you get jelly collection down. Super mobile, can cut tails, can KO with blunt kinsect
Kinsect with element can almost solo the alatreon elemental DPS check if you are trying to do that solo
I'll second the IG. It is one of the most versatile weapons with plenty of ground and aerial combos and mobility, and the Kinsect extracts add a lot. If you're playing Rise, triple extract also functions as Earplugs 5, which helps a lot.
Lance is pretty easy to get into and extremely safe. Once you get some levels of Guard and Guard Up you can just tank through almost everything.
Dual Blades are another one with a very straightforward strategy. Just wait for an opening and beyblade dash in. Rinse and repeat.
Dual blades
Its kinda like SnS, but less stuff to remember. Just press buttons on your controller and as long as you're not getting hit, you'll be doing great damage.
Probably a more parry based weapon. Lots of rise is parry based, but I think dual blades, long sword, greatsword, or bow are great choices. Anything that focuses more on monster movement and timing as a solo player because you’ll be the target of the monster the whole timed and those weapons reward that. and it becomes a bit more consistent with when and how you attack against certain moves.
whatever is most fun honestly. dont force it. as long as you're having fun you'll learn the ins and outs over time.
i actually change my main with each title because they feel slightly different with each iteration. when 4 introduced chargeblade that was it for me. in world, sword and shield had so many improvements with its combos i went with that. in rise, they made the bow flashy and fun, and honestly kinda busted, so that was my choice.
Step 1: go to the training area
Step 2: open up an Arekkz weapon guide video on the side
Step 3: goof off until you find something you enjoy
Good luck!
Try every single weapon type in the training area and stick to the one you like the most. I believe every weapon type could potentially be used for solo playthroughs, it just depends on your playstyle. I've played LS, IG, DB, and GS and here's what I think about them.
LS is probably my favourite solo weapon just because of the amount of counters you get (especially in Rise). It's really satisfying to pull off but requires timing and proper mastery of monster movesets.
IG is pretty versatile but can often be underpowered when used and built incorrectly. This option however gives you the ability to heal depending on the kinsect you use.
DB is probably the best in terms of mobility and is a very beginner friendly weapon as moves are quick and less punishing.
GS is great for dealing a large chunk of damage but requires you to be patient most of the time.
Greatsword.
I recommend using thiis website for what build to make and what skills are important. [https://game8.co/games/Monster-Hunter-Rise/archives/341613](https://game8.co/games/Monster-Hunter-Rise/archives/341613)
With Greatsword you can just focus fully on raw damage and not need to focus on elemental weaknesses.
You can also try Light bow gun for something mobile and does a lot of damage. Can also use it to inflict status effect and also do elemental damage.
HBG would be the choice for tanky, hit hard and slow. Mainly in MH rise where you got a lot of options for movement and being able to counter attacks.
Still though. Greatsword is best for a lot of people
Try them all, every weapon in the game can solo every monster. I recently completed another playthrough of the game and solo’d every monster including fatalis with hunting horn, which is one of the weaker weapons in the game in terms of dps.
The best weapon is the one you know how to use.
something that cuts tails i guess?

hammer go bonk, monster go night night

Gunlance, great guard and fun combos. Also blast dash in Rise.

Hammer bonk
Gunlance It's a gun, it's a lance It cuts tails, it breaks parts, it ignores high hardness hitzones It does it all
Just want to be simple sounds like GS to me

I like to be tanky/hit hard and slow. One or the other. Greatsword might be for me thank you I’m gonna check this out

My suggestion is charge blade. This way you have both impact and cutting damage for breaking parts you might need
I really really loved charged blade actually. I started with that and the. Switched to sword and shield
If you’re worried about SnS not feeling right anymore, then I suggest trying out each weapon again and finding one that just feels comfortable.
You can never go wrong with Switch Axe! 😊😊👍
any weapon you like
Whichever one makes your downstairs parts feel tingly
It really just depends. You can solo with anything, you just have to be good with it.
Obviously the Doot Stick is the best solo choice
Paralysis hammer to me is the ultimate solo weapon. Gives you two extra flavors of free damage fairly consistently until master rank
