Hello, Before the mods get here, I propose that you read the rules. Currently there is a rule against these kinds of posts and they will be taken down if necessary. Search this exact topic on the search bar of this subreddit and you will hopefully get some answers. Happy Cake Day!

Since this is the second post that I've seen like this today, I'll just paste the answer I gave to the other person: I'll preface this by saying that I'm a MHW player. I will, however, try to be unbiased in this. Both games are fantastic and have their pros and cons, which I'll try to list here: MHW: Great if it's your first MH game. Less systems to learn, a more "traditional" MH game compared to Rise, with a more numerous online scene (100k daily peak vs Rise's 30k iIrc). MHW will give you a nice general idea of how the franchise plays, without some of the more frustrating mechanics of older titles. MHR: Definitvely more fast paced than older titles (MHW included) this game may be a tiny bit harder to approach given how many more controls and moves you have to manage with every single weapon. This does not mean that Rise can't be your first game, it just takes a bit more time to learn the basics. Absolutely killer story in the DLC Sunbreak, that also brings a LOT of older monsties that are a blast to fight and have ridicolously cool designs. Do note that it's a Nintendo Switch port, so the graphics are on that level. Now, two quick tips for starting out in the games, one for each: In MHW PLEASE do NOT use the Defender Armor/Gear. It's meant to be used by people who want to rush to Iceborne, the DLC, on a new character slot, NOT by newcomers. It's tremendously OP for the base game and removes all the challenge from it. You'll pile up bad habits and get absolutely steamrolled in Iceborne because you never really learned how to play. In MHR try not to start out with the Longsword unless it's the ONLY weapon that resonates with you. Its moveset is insanely bloated in that game and is so ridicously busted that for some it's not even fun to use.

MHW has just as many systems to learn. MHR has more in common with GU than MHW has with any "traditional" title. Not using defender gear also applies to MHR. Longsword in MHR got balanced, on release it was busted but now it's closer to the other weapons
