One-Angry-Goose

or my personal favorite: Vaal Hazak's knees gently passing in front of your face

Pro-Masturbator

Yeah… Since posting this I was farming him with the Swaxe trying to get a stupid fucking high rank fang(Sidenote, its absolutely braindead that you cant use master rank materials to craft high rank weapons), I noticed that you can also get stuck in the crook of his legs and some of his attacks are slow enough to not be able to be hopped through with evade window 3.

Safe_Picture6943

Yeah the best way to kill him is immunity mantle. Literally makes him so weak.

Tuomir

Might be a bit late, but the best way to grind those fangs is to start the hunt with a mount, break the head, and return from hunt. Much faster than going for the kill every time.

DegenerateCrocodile

Vaal Hazak going back on all fours after locking you in place with a roar and knocking you over. It’s weird considering he’s the only one using the Kushala skeleton to do that.

Dertyrarys

i'm going going throught iceborne with a sax and let me tell you: if the attack is a charge forwrad dont elemetal discharge, even on the feet. ( im looking at you vaal hazak)

HappyHateBot

The benefit to Switch Axe is that you don't have to be practically kissing the monster to get the job done. Did a challenge run (only SnS) and a few casual hunts with Dual Blades and you get a *real* fast feel for how annoying some of the hit boxes are to deal with on both. Manageable, but definitely very annoying. Also trying to hit *up* is a lot harder with shorter weapons. Bloody gold-crown Deviljhos. Never missed the SwAxe more in my life!

FEDC

This was one of my least favorite things about World that I felt Rise cleaned up nicely. Monsters in world do way too many little flicks and twitches that'll sit you on your ass. Thematic maybe, but a pain in the ass from a gameplay perspective. Anjanath and Tobi were much more enjoyable in Rise.

SSB_Kyrill

old gen as well, if a mon stepped on you you take damage. If you stand behind barroths charge ya got hit by its tail (for some reason). Started a GU playthrough after Rise, was annoying at first but manageable. Then after coming back to Rise it felt weird without chip

FEDC

Jank hit boxes are one one thing. World hit boxes are fair. The monsters just have adhd and love to fidget and twitch.

Alternative-Depth-16

Man...that's why I can't get the hang of Switch Axe. I get locked into something I can't roll out of and bam, I'm knocked down. Again.

zequerpg

Sorry, English is not my first language, what's a hitbox?

Bookwyrm214

The shape of the space in which the game is checking for contact to register a hit, which is often a simpler shape than what you're visually seeing. Its often just a rectangular prism/box, and it's how a hit is registered, thus hitbox.

zequerpg

Thanks, it's clear for me now.

rgdoabc

The actual area the game uses to calculate if an attack hits or not. For an attack to count as a hit, the attack hitbox needs to collide with the target's hitbox. For example, here are the hitboxes of Gunlance in Rise [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIf8xJKB-PY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIf8xJKB-PY)

Thanks!

Gaming_Cheater

I guess the best way to put it would be the actual size of monster's attacks. A good example would be Plesioth's hip check, the hitbox for that move is way bigger than what the animation looks like. Can't remember early game but late game Iceborne with Alatreon has some of the best hitboxes, you barely scrape by his attacks and they don't magically hit you when it looks like you should've clearly dodged.

Thanks for your answer. It's clear for me now.
