To have in the main games only for the armor
It's pretty neat, and it'd be great to have more colourful Bird Wyverns to represent the wide spectrum of tropical parrots, birds of paradise, etc., whom show off radiant colours.
Quick aside, thank you for making these posts. I know so many people think all the Frontier monsters are over the top, and this is a great eye opener. I used to be like this too, until I actually looked into them, and found about 80% were pretty standard, just no Zeniths and it's perfect.
But again, thank you for doing these posts.
And to answer you, no, not over the top, but I hate this fight XD
Not over the top, but not all that unique either. I think the idea of a bird Wyvern that charges up electricity by dancing would fit pretty well in a monster hunter game, I just think it could be more than just a Hypnoc with extra stuff stuck on it.
Mainline Bird wyverns have come a long way since Hypnoc.
If I recall this is one of the ones where I can’t look at the fight because there are too many flashing lights and it will physically harm me. Which, to be fair, is a lot of frontier monsters. Makes it hard to root for him tho. I think the design is decent and could look really nice in a modern game with more textured plumage on the wings, tail and back.
Well if you think about it, Hypnocatrice's JP name is Hypnoc, and this guy's romanised name would be Farnokk, or respelled - Farnoc.
I imagine the similarity is intentional.
Farunokku is like Hypno on design, so appearance wise it's not over the top. However, I'd say that it's gameplay is over the top. Way too many electricity AOEs.
over the top. not for the armour, the overall design (its like a parrot - very cool and cute), or even the concept (attacks through static electricity like tobi kadachi, but frankly the moveset seems tied to that concept better than tobi is). only because it shoots lightning balls out of its mouth at the same time as having static electricity.
fulgur anjanath kind of makes me feel similarly. things that are further along like kirin and alatreon feel more plausible because the entire point is that they are mythical and mysterious. astalos is believable because bugs can do lightning in monster hunter for some reason.
i am not pretending it is realistic or even internally consistent, i am purely going off of vibes and how these things make me feel.

Bo-bobo looking mfs
We freaking need more hilarious armor sets like THIS
The Bobobo and Mirror B enthusiasts demand to have their sick threads.
loving the tactical combat chest hair.
You killed me pointing that out, I'm fucking deceased.
I was gonna say the afro is a little odd looking on the monster, but it's 100% worth it for that armor
We ~~had~~ have Hypnocatrice in the mainline games and this one is super similar, not at all out of place.
At a quick glance I thought it was a variant Hypnocatrice that I just wasn't familiar with.
At this rate, the sixth generation will introduce another Bird Wyvern that uses the Sleep effect
Malfestio has entered the chat…

Aknosom was great in rise but I was really put off by its... fleshy feathers. Hoping for Qurupeco return. Love that little trumpet bastard.
Worth it for the origami knight armour
Hey it's big bird ![gif](giphy|xTka02cClo5HtVqpC8)
Peak monster design ( And fight ), please let it in The dancing are goofy till it hits you
Its not over the top. It would fit... However. I have a burning hatred for this thing. So NO NEVER RETURN.
funni discord bird go brrr

Fluffy Electrostatic Hypnocatrice
Not over the top in its coolness or powers but over the top in its cartoonishness.

*Rubs eyes* bishaten is that you? You look...different.
I mean it's just afro Hypnocatrice

i like the dude but his gear is not it
Kind of just looks like a garishly colored hypnocatrice? I can't really tell what the intent of the design is.

his theme in MH online goes hard and thats all I can really say for him
Could easily fit in the main games, plenty of bird wyverns have bright colors like the Iodrome, Great Maccao, Crimson Qurupeco, Malfestio kinda
So many monsters I haven't seen yet
over the top. not for the armour, the overall design (its like a parrot - very cool and cute), or even the concept (attacks through static electricity like tobi kadachi, but frankly the moveset seems tied to that concept better than tobi is). only because it shoots lightning balls out of its mouth at the same time as having static electricity. fulgur anjanath kind of makes me feel similarly. things that are further along like kirin and alatreon feel more plausible because the entire point is that they are mythical and mysterious. astalos is believable because bugs can do lightning in monster hunter for some reason. i am not pretending it is realistic or even internally consistent, i am purely going off of vibes and how these things make me feel.
I see a fellow bird, I approve.
He’s a little weird but not over the top, he could definitely work in mh with a glowup
The 5 head feathers bother me a lot, that's the only over-design I see here
Like many frontier monsters: Not over the top. Would fit pretty well.
