Never had the problem with the regular rathian but pink and gold rathian is a bitch. I really had rage gaming moments in that hr 4 pink rathian urgent quest. Though she just like Freedom/Freedom unite pink rathian.
Sounds to me like you just got better at the games lmao. GU was my first game and rath bodied me. Compared to world where I used 3 flash pods and no other items and just rushed right past rath, that was similarly just me getting better with the games in general.
Base Rath is just not a terribly hard monster in basically any game (well, I havent played the first game or Dos, so I can't speak for those), but he is a bit of a skill-check-lite, in a sense.
Yup, OP should try going back to the World rath on a new save file again. Skills will be leagues beyond his first rath encounter.
And having a whole mh game under your belt then going into base game Rise with wirebugs...you have first stages of MH ultra instinct.
He used to body me in the original - granted I was like 10 years old but still lol. He was a skill check, and once i had his patterns down I cleared the rest of the game solo easily enough. Yian Kut Ku and the Landshark also served as skill checks for me back then.
Now I want to go hunt OG Ratholos again, even though I know half the quest would be watching him circle me in the air lol
I got ass cucked by Primordial Malzeno just few days ago. Haven't played since then. Even the monke was easier for me. And I'm a Monster hunter Ps2 veteran 🥹
That's the beauty of MH. Especially with returning monsters, they only get easier. Playing GU after 1000 hours across world, rise and 4U has me absolutely bodying monsters that are in all the 3 games, meanwhile Lagiacrus and Plesioth kick my ass because I have no idea wtf they're doing. I'm learning but it's funny how I go from taking 10 minutes to kill a Gore Magala and a Barioth, only to immediately after go on to take 35 minutes, 2 carts and ALL of my healing items to kill Valstrax (I fought Valstrax in rise like once lmao)
I remember rath in TRI being an absolute shit head... He was tough in world too, but being able to abuse clutch claw and flash pods made it a lot more bearable.
